Maa trailer: Kajol unleashes her protective and fierce maternal instincts in the trailer of her upcoming horror film Maa. On Thursday, the makers unveiled the trailer of the Vishal Furia directorial, which tells the story of a mother who becomes Kali to end a demonic curse rooted in fear, blood, and betrayal. The trailer begins with Kajol driving her daughter through a dense forest road. Her daughter complains of period pain, and Kajol says they will stop in a short while, and it will be okay. But that does not happen as planned, as a mysterious figure slams into the glass window, and the two of them find themselves in Chandanpur, where a dark new chapter is about to begin.
Kajol tells her daughter not to step out with her permission. Soon, she finds out about a cursed tree where it is believed that evil spirits reside. Ronit Roy appears and shared that several girls have disappeared from the same place in the last few months. A furious Kajol then declares that she will not let her daughter be the sacrifice for ending the curse of this place. Will she be able to protect her daughter from the evil forces?
Reacting to the trailer, a fan commented, 'This looks intense and scary! Good to see Kajol in a different role.' A second fan said, 'So happy to see production houses exploring the horror verses instead of the action and romantic stuff!' 'The trailer looks awesome,' said a second fan.
Maa also stars Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, and Kherin Sharma. It is directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Subbarayan. Saiwyn Quadras wrote the screenplay, while Sandeep Francis is the editor. The music composers of the film are Harsh Upadhyay, Rocky Khanna, and Shiv Malhotra.
Maa is set to release in theatres on 27 June.

'It was a very sensitive scene," Madhavan said. 'There's this moment where I make my daughter dance through the night. She reaches a point where she can't hold it anymore and urinates. In the original version of the film, the approach to the scene was different. But here, I realized that even as a villain, if I looked at her during that moment, it would send out a completely different message. I needed the audience to feel disgust—not pity or justification." Madhavan explained how he changed his physical performance to reflect that discomfort. 'So, I wrapped myself in a blanket, deliberately avoiding looking at her. That decision not only worked for the character but gave me relief as an actor. I could step away emotionally while still staying true to the role. I simply tell the mother, 'Can you go help your daughter?'" He further added, 'There were many such moments during filming that made me deeply uncomfortable. But I had to find ways to stay authentic while protecting myself emotionally." Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, is the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash. It stars Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala alongside Madhavan in a dark and sinister role. Akshay Kumar wasn't the first choice for Jaanwar: Suneel Darshan
Filmmaker Suneel Darshan recently opened up about the behind-the-scenes casting decisions that shaped his 1999 film 'Jaanwar'. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Darshan revealed that action star Akshay Kumar was never the original choice for the lead role. 'Jaanwar' was initially meant to feature Sunny Deol, and later, Ajay Devgn, who was almost finalised."Jaanwar was not written for Akshay,' Darshan began. 'The film was originally planned with Sunny Deol. We were nearly set to go ahead when we had a fallout over some very ugly issues. Those issues are still pending. So I decided to move forward and find someone else.'advertisementThat someone, it turns out, was Ajay Devgn - who was not only a top star at the time but also nearly finalised for the part. 'Ajay and I met on a Saturday and agreed on the film. We were supposed to finalise everything that Monday, but Sunday changed everything," Darshan recalled. On that Sunday morning, Darshan received an unexpected call. 'It was from someone I had never met before—Akshay Kumar. He was very keen to meet immediately. I invited him over, and he said he wanted to do 'Jaanwar'. He asked me, 'Would you consider making the film with me?''Darshan admits he was unsure at first. 'Akshay was going through the worst phase of his career at the time. But I thought, 'Here's a good-looking, disciplined actor willing to give 100% of himself.'
