Maa Worldwide Lifetime Box Office: Kajol's supernatural-thriller to end its below average run falling slightly short of Rs 50 crore globally
Maa, directed by Vishal Furia and starring Kajol, Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati and others is at the fag end of its below average global theatrical run. With an expected Rs 35 crore net (Rs 42.50 crore gross) in India and USD 0.65 million gross (Rs 5.50 crore gross) internationally, the movie will end its run with an underwhelming Rs 48 crore worldwide. Let's dive deep and try and understand the global theatrical performance of Maa. Maa Is Set To End Its Global Theatrical Run Grossing Rs 48 Crore The collections of Maa, if seen as a standalone Kajol film that's not associated with a brand like Shaitaan, are pretty reasonable and probably even good. We don't have many actresses who can command this level of business on their own shoulders. However, Maa's collections can't be analysed without bringing Shaitaan in the discussion, since the film was marketed around the Ajay Devgn, Janki Bodiwala and Madhavan's 2024 supernatural-horror. These collections of Maa have a lot to do with it being linked to Shaitaan, and the collections of the film without that connection would have been significantly lesser. Maa Could Have Earned Itself A Better Verdict If It Held Stronger At The Box Office After Week 1, Like Dino Has The global theatrical share of Maa shall be slightly under Rs 20 crore. The budget of Maa is high for the face value and scope. But the good news is that the non-theatrical recoveries have been hefty due to its association with Shaitaan. Shaitaan was a runaway hit on digital, which helped the digital platform acquire Maa at higher than usual rates. There's no doubt that the film is not going to lose anyone any money. However, with a better theatrical run, it could have earned itself a better theatrical verdict. Maa Faced Stiff Competition From Holdover, As Well As New Releases Maa faced stiff competition from holdover release Sitaare Zameen Par and the new release F1. It clearly didn't get the kind of theatrical space it would fancy, to put up a good show. Immediately next week, it lost more screens to Dino and Jurassic World: Rebirth. With a very mixed theatrical reaction, it was always going to be tough for the supernatural movie to make a mark for itself around the strong films it was pitted against. Kajol's Next Movie After Maa Kajol's next film Sarzameen is already up for release on JioHotstar on the 25th of July. The actress is busy reading different scripts for her next after Sarzameen. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more box office updates.

Maa Box Office Collection Day 10: Kajol's Horror Thriller Crosses Rs 30-Crore Mark
Kajol's first horror film, Maa, released on June 27, 2025, has been performing well at the box office. By the second Sunday, it crossed the Rs 30 crore mark. Kajol's first horror movie Maa is doing really well in theatres! The film, which released on June 27, has been getting a great response from the audience. Even in its second week, it's pulling in strong numbers. On Sunday (July 6), Maa crossed the Rs 30 crore mark at the box office. Maa seems to be picking up pace again at the box office. As per early numbers from Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 2.35 crore on its 10th day (Sunday), showing a clear jump from Saturday's collection of Rs 1.75 crore. Thanks to the weekend boost, the Kajol-starrer has now crossed the Rs 30 crore milestone, bringing its total earnings to Rs 31.60 crore. The film has managed to stay strong through its second week. Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa has held its own despite facing tough competition from biggies like Sitaare Zameen Par and Kannappa. Maa had opened with Rs 4.65 crore on its first day. In Maa, a mythological horror thriller, Kajol takes on the powerful role of Ambika, a fearless mother who will stop at nothing to protect her daughter from dark, supernatural forces. The film blends myth and mystery, marking Kajol's first foray into the horror genre. Alongside her, the cast includes Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, and Kherin Sharma. Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa is backed by producers Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Subbarayan. A part of the review of Maa by News18 read, 'The concept and story have substance, but the film lacked largely because of its style of storytelling. Besides, the film also has a lot of stereotypes that could have been done without. Besides the exaggeration that the palace had a almost 30-feet tall Kali maa's stone carved statue, the way people from Chandrapur talk in the film, everything seems to be a cliche that all the Bengalis would be running away from. It only gets disappointing to see Ronit Roy, who plays a vital part in the film, deliver all his Hindi dialogues with such a heavy Bengali accent. A lot would argue that it is not how people from Bengal speak when they talk in Hindi." First Published:

Maa Day 9 India Box Office: Kajol's supernatural-horror grows by 60 percent on 2nd Saturday; Nets Rs 1.60 crore
Maa, directed by Vishal Furia and starring Kajol, Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta and others, after an ordinary Rs 26 crore net in week 1, saw a major drop in collections on 2nd Friday, impacted by new found competition in Dino and Jurassic World: Rebirth. It only collected Rs 1 crore on day 8. The Kajol movie, fortunately grew by 60 percent on 2nd Saturday netting Rs 1.60 crore, and it shall add another Rs 1.75 crore net or so on Sunday, to go past the Rs 30 crore net India mark. The Day Wise India Net Box Office Of Maa In India Is As Under Maa Has Got Appreciation, But It Has Not Translated To Strong Box Office Numbers Maa, despite the appreciation by its target audience, has not been able to make a mark at the box office, due to multiple other bigger films playing concurrently in theatres. Had it released in a silent release phase, the collections could have gone over Rs 40 crore and perhaps very close to Rs 50 crore too. Maa Has Done Reasonably For A Kajol Movie, But Unreasonably For A Movie From The World Of Shaitaan The collections of Maa so far are pretty reasonable, if seen as a Kajol movie. However, Maa is also directly linked to a brand like Shaitaan, and for that, it should have done better. It will now be over to Shaitaan 2 to draw in the big crowds and have the supernatural-horror franchise, up and running. Talking about the economics of Maa, it is a safe venture because of the presold non-theatrical deals, and the Rs 20 crore worth of global theatrical share. Kajol's Upcoming Movie Projects After Maa, Kajol will be seen in Sarzameen, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The movie will stream on JioHotstar from 25th July, 2025. Kajol's next after Sarzameen is not confirmed. Maa In Theatres Maa plays in theatres now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Kajol and Maa.
