Kajol has been honoured with the prestigious Raj Kapoor Award for her great contribution to Indian cinema. At the recent Maharashtra State Film Awards, Bollywood actress Kajol made headlines, not for her award, but for her choice of language during her acceptance speech. Honoured with the prestigious Raj Kapoor Award for her great contribution to Indian cinema, Kajol delivered her speech in Marathi and English. However, when someone requested her to repeat the speech in Hindi, Kajol politely refused. The video went viral, and it sparked a wave of reactions across social media platforms.
During her speech, Kajol expressed how special the moment was for her, mentioning her happiness that her mother, who had also received the same award earlier, was present with her. She said in Marathi, "I have received this award today… it's a very, very big day for me. I'm very happy my mother is here with me.' However, in ANI video, when asked to repeat her speech in Hindi, she replied, 'Should I speak in Hindi now? Whoever wants to understand, will understand." This response caused a stir online. Many fans and netizens expressed disappointment and confusion over Kajol's refusal to speak in Hindi, especially since she is a well-known face in the Hindi film industry. Comments poured in questioning her decision, with some users asking why she continues to work in Hindi films if she is "uncomfortable" speaking the language publicly. Several social media users suggested that if Kajol prefers Marathi, she should focus her career on Marathi cinema instead. Others pointed out the irony that Hindi cinema gave Kajol her fame and recognition and wondered why she seemed to show bias against the Hindi language. The incident has opened up a larger debate about language preferences and cultural respect within the Indian film industry and among fans.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kajol has been quite busy with her back-to-back releases. She began with Vishal Furia's fantasy drama, Maa , alongside Rohit Roy and Indraneil Sengupta. The actress was last seen in the JioHotstar film Sarzameen , which premiered on July 25. Directed by Kayoze Irani, the film also featured Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan.

Gadkari calls out indecent music making rounds at Ganesh & Durga mandals
1 2 Nagpur: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday expressed concern over the increasing use of 'indecent' music and songs at Ganeshotsav and Navratri celebrations, warning that such practices negatively influence younger generations. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the Khasdar Inter-School Patriotic Singing Cup, Gadkari urged organisers to focus on programmes that inspire values, culture, and positive change. To counter this trend, Gadkari announced that under the Khasdar Sanskrutik Utsav banner, over 300 performances will be staged at various Ganesh mandals this year. "We offered mandals the option that expenses would be borne by us, and these programmes will now entertain while also imparting good values," Gadkari said. Recalling an initiative last year where a Marathi writer organised the programme 'Lokaho Mala Maaf Kara' (Forgive Me, O People) to highlight the original vision of Lokmanya Tilak behind Ganeshotsav, Gadkari said the event exposed how far the festival strayed from its roots. He reiterated the need for cultural revival through music, theatre, and bhajans by saints like Tukdoji Maharaj and Sant Kabir, whose simple words carried deep spiritual meaning. Highlighting the broader initiatives of the Sanskrutik Utsav, Gadkari said bhakti mahotsavs have been organised where thousands of students sing verses like the Manache Shlok, Ram Raksha Stotra, and Vande Mataram. One such event, with 30,000 students, even entered the Guinness Book of World Records. During Covid, theatre competitions supported artists financially, while a large Sharadutsav initiative provided employment to 450–500 girls through a mehendi drawing camp that saw nearly 49,000 women participate as customers. Sharing personal memories, Gadkari recalled how teachers in his school taught patriotic songs by Vasant Desai, Pushpa Pandhare, and others. "Listening to and singing such songs gave us a sense of contentment and inspiration," he said. He urged schools to continue this tradition, pointing out that music and words have a lasting psychological impact. Expanding on his cultural vision, Gadkari revealed that over 4,000 bhajan groups have been given tablas and harmoniums to encourage devotional singing at temples. "Regular bhajan sessions bring positive changes in thought and behaviour. This is how society evolves and strengthens the foundation of the state," he remarked. Turning to contemporary challenges, Gadkari suggested that every child should spend at least three hours in playgrounds daily, citing his own grandchildren's enrolment in gymnastics and badminton as examples. BOX 25 Marathi songs composed by Shankar-Ehsan-Loy to commemorate RSS centenary year Nagpur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that 25 specially composed songs based on traditional Marathi music by singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan will be launched on September 28 at Suresh Bhat Auditorium to mark the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Gadkari said the initiative, prepared under the Sanskrutik Utsav banner, aims to promote discipline, road safety, and national pride through music. He recalled spending his childhood at the Dr Hedgewar Memorial at RSS Smruti Mandir, which inspired him to initiate such cultural programmes. Earlier, a road safety song composed by Mahadevan went viral, following which Gadkari requested versions in 22 Indian languages. The upcoming launch, he added, will combine cultural heritage with social responsibility, reflecting the Sangh's values of nation-building. ‘I wasn't supposed to feel gareeb in India': Dubai vlogger left shocked after Rs 1,000 chai in Mumbai
A Dubai-based Indian travel vlogger has gone viral for something most NRIs can relate to — the shock of returning home and finding India anything but 'cheap.' Parikshit Balochi, a radio presenter and content creator, recently posted a candid Instagram video about how the cost of living back home has left him stunned. His witty yet exasperated rant, especially about a cup of tea that set him back Rs 1,000, has already crossed half a million his video, Balochi confessed that earning in dirhams always gave him the impression that India would be his playground for carefree spending. 'I am an NRI, I was not supposed to feel gareeb (poor) in India,' he said, sounding equal parts amused and frustrated. But instead of feeling wealthy, the inflated bills in Mumbai hotels and cafés have made him rethink the entire NRI privilege. Nothing captured his disbelief better than the price of a humble cup of tea. 'Rs 1,000 is what we used to put on the stock market when I left India. What is happening?' he explained that the unspoken 'deal' NRIs had with India was simple — come home, convert dirhams to rupees, and live like royalty. He said that converting dirhams into rupees was supposed to make him feel richer, not leave him shocked. Instead of showing off his wealth, he now jokes that he might actually need flexible payment plans just to survive the a mix of satire and genuine worry, Balochi ended his rant by pointing out how much money locals must be managing to spend daily. 'Yahan pe logon se puch raha hun, kitna paisa hai bhai tumhare paas,' he said, marvelling at how residents navigate this reality.
