Paris Diamond League 2025 LIVE UPDATES: Neeraj Chopra eyes another 90m throw; event at 1:12 AM IST
Paris Diamond League 2025 LIVE Updates: The 2025 season of the Diamond League will continue in Paris on Saturday, June 21, with India's Neeraj Chopra in action at the men's javelin throw event, which will feature a high-quality eight-man field including five athletes who have thrown over 90 metres.
Leading the charge is India's Olympic and World silver medallist Neeraj Chopra, who recently breached the elusive 90m mark for the first time with a 90.23m effort at the Doha Diamond League on May 16. However, he was narrowly beaten there by Germany's Julian Weber, who threw 91.06m. Weber also edged out Chopra again at the Janusz Kusoci?"ski Memorial meet in Poland on May 23, though both underperformed in tough conditions.
Two-time world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada has also consistently been in the mix, finishing third in both those recent competitions. Rounding out the elite 90m club are Julius Yego (Kenya, 2015 world champion) and Keshorn Walcott (Trinidad and Tobago, 2012 Olympic champion), both of whom peaked earlier in their careers.
The field also includes Luiz Mauricio da Silva (Brazil), Andrian Mardare (Moldova), and local hope Rémi Rougetet (France). Paris will mark Chopra's return to the city after eight years, as he aims to top the podium in what promises to be one of the most competitive javelin fields of the season.

A fitness festival born in OMR grows bigger
In 2018, OMR-based startup Fionis organised a fitness festival that brought gated communities in the region together in a spirit of friendly competition. The festival featured a host of sports and allied activities. The following year, they organised 'Happy Feet Run'. Both events sought to strengthen bonds among gated communities to build a fitness culture. Saravanan Kandan and S. Organised in association with Sathyabama University, Rotary Club and Federation of OMR Resident Associations, Fitness Fest 2025 is a community-wide mission to make fitness accessible, enjoyable and inclusive for all, says a press release. More than 50 gated communities and 25 schools in Chennai will be taking part in a series of events scheduled for September. 'We have already started small events at gated communities and schools to build momentum for the big events happening in September,' says Anu. A line-up of events Children can participate in 'Happy Feet Run', a 5K family-friendly run inside a secure, traffic-free campus; and 'Obstacle Run', an adventure-themed physical challenge tailored for different age groups. Inflatable run, rock climbing, Parkour, calisthenics, gymnastics, karate, judo and Olympic-style weightlifting demonstrations are among the highlights. A 'Special Kids Run' is dedicated for children with special needs. A social cause A key component of this year's edition pertains to building awareness about health and preventive care. A 'Free CPR training for more than 100 volunteers to raise emergency response awareness' will be conducted. 'Support for Olympic Aspirants' is another social gesture where children from humble backgrounds, training for international competitions, will be given exposure and support. NBA star LeBron James triggers wild speculation over sensational Stephen Curry reunion in blockbuster trade
NBA star LeBron James triggers wild speculation over sensational Stephen Curry reunion in blockbuster trade (Image Source: Getty Images) LeBron James just chose to play one more year with the Los Angeles Lakers, but he is thinking ahead. He said he still wants to win, yet his future is open. This has started big talk about a surprising trade near the 2025-26 season. Could he end up with Stephen Curry on the Golden State Warriors? LeBron James could join Stephen Curry - here's how it might happen On June 29, LeBron James told the Lakers he was taking his player option worth $52.6 million for the 2025-26 season - his 23rd year in the NBA. LeBron's current deal runs until June 30, 2026, after which he will hit free agency. His agent, Rich Paul, has made it clear that LeBron's focus is still on winning. — FirstTake (@FirstTake) Paul also revealed that the Lakers never put a fresh contract on the table before LeBron decided to opt in. On top of that, LeBron wasn't told in advance about major moves, like the Anthony Davis trade back in February 2025, which may have added to his uncertainty. Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks could pursue him An unnamed NBA executive told DallasHoopsJournal that three teams would try to sign LeBron in 2026: the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks. He said, 'Once he's on the open market, those three will court him. I do not doubt in my mind.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Treatment That Might Help You Against Knee Pain (Search Now) Knee Pain Treatment | Search Ads Undo Stephen Curry has never played on the same team as LeBron, but they did win Olympic gold together at the 2024 Paris Games. On the show The Shop, LeBron said he'd love to play with Curry. He praised Curry's skills, calling him 'lethal' and joking that you might need to guard him from the moment he gets out of bed. If LeBron James ever teams up with Stephen Curry in Golden State, it would bring together two of basketball's biggest stars and change the NBA in a big way. The deal wouldn't be easy, with money limits and team changes to consider, but their past Olympic success and respect for each other make fans dream about it. No matter where he goes, LeBron's 2026 free agency is set to be one of the most talked-about moments in basketball. This trade idea has fans split. Some cheer for a legendary duo; others say it's too costly or unlikely for the Warriors. Chance for many aspirants to book their ticket to the Tokyo Worlds
In the absence of several top names, including double Olympic medallist and World champion Neeraj Chopra, due to varied reasons, the focus will be on javelin throwers Annu Rani and Sachin Yadav, long jumpers S. Murali and Shaili Singh and sprinter Animesh Kujur as the Kalinga Stadium is all set to host the country's maiden World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event here on Sunday. Coincidentally, a good bunch of prominent Indians have been ruled out due to injury or fitness issues. The event, offering a prize money of $25,000 and featuring 156 athletes, including 63 from more than 15 countries, will offer a chance to qualify for the World championships, starting in Japan from September 13. The athletes can do so either through direct qualification or by improving their rankings. For Asian Games gold medallist Annu, who returned from Poland on Friday after achieving her season-best mark of 62.59m, this is a stepping stone for the Worlds. 'The training was good because of which I got such a good distance in Poland after the Asian Games. I will try to improve,' said 32-year-old Annu, who is ranked 30th among top-36 and is set for her fifth World championships. Sachin, who got his season best of 85.16m while claiming the silver in the Asian championships in Korea in May, will be keen to breach the Worlds qualifying mark of 85.50m. 'Despite my ankle issue, I did well (82.33m) in the Neeraj Chopra Classic. I had a good exposure in Europe. I will try to do my best,' said Sachin, who may be challenged by Sri Lankans Rumesh Pathirage and Sumedha Ranashinghe and a host of talented Indians. Kujur, who returned from Europe after giving some fine performances including National marks of 10.18 in 100m and 20.32 in 200m, said he would focus on 200m while trying to stay close to his personal best. Sreeshankar, who has recorded some impressive marks including 8.05m since his comeback from a knee surgery, and Shaili, who has a season best of 6.64m, will also try to punch their tickets to Japan.
