‘What a freak': Izak Rankine defies belief with outrageous soccer goal
Izak Rankine has produced a goal of the year contender as Adelaide held on to topple Port Adelaide in a hard-fought Showdown contest.
The Crows were locked in a tight tussle with the Power and needed somebody to take the game over.

The 25-year-old showed he loves the big stage by getting on the end of a scintillating passage of play by soccering the ball through the big sticks.
Crows ruckman brilliantly fed skipper Jordan Dawson who burst out of the middle and drilled the ball deep inside 50.
Darcy Fogarty wasn't able to haul in the mark with the ball bouncing off his chest and into free space.
Rankine then pounced as he raced into the contest and slotted the ball back across his body for his second straight goal.
'WOW. There it is,' Garry Lyon said on Fox Footy.
'The magic man says you can have your Rozee and your Butters, when it's on the line I'm going to step up and provide something special in the Showdown.'
Fans watching on couldn't quite believe what the Crows star had just produced in a clutch fourth quarter moment.
One fan wrote: 'Rankine, wow. What a freak this guy.'
A second added: 'You're are a freak of nature Izak Rankine.'
The soccer goal came only moments after Rankine kicked his first goal of the contest after running into open space in the 50.
The contest was hanging in the balance in the fourth quarter with the Crows unable to pull clear of their cross-town rivals.
But it was Rankine who stepped up to the plate with his first goal giving his team some much needed breathing space.
Despite the moments of magic from Rankine, the Crows ran out of juice as Port Adelaide roared back to life.
Down by as many as 21-points, the momentum completely flipped as the Power had all the running and looked like they were on the brink of pinching victory from the jaws of defeat.
Goals to Darcy Byrne-Jones and Jeremy Finlayson saw the margin close to within four-points, but that's as close as things got as the Crows held on.
The win lifts the Crows to 6-3 on the season and sees them sitting in fifth on the ladder. The loss for the Power drops them to 4-5 with pressure all over coach Ken Hinkley.

In a muddling run race, she just got shuffled back too far and when the others started making their runs I had to duck back to the inside, which probably wasn't the place to be today. So I thought she ran quite well considering. 8th - PHILIA (Kerrin McEvoy) I thought she ran well. She began okay but didn't muster as well as I would have liked, so we didn't take up as good a potion as I would've liked. That meant we had to do a bit of work and she was beaten on the corner, but she still stuck on to be beaten not far. So David has done a remarkable job with her. 9th - JENNI'S MEADOW (Ethan Brown) I thought it was a really gallant effort. She probably just over-travelled a fraction throughout, which took away from her finish. So in the circumstances, I thought she stuck on well. 10th - ELLA HAZEL (Joshua Parr) I failed to execute the necessary procedures to win the race. 11th - SUN WORSHIPPER (Angela Jones) It's just a shame that she had a bad gate and we had to settle at the back of the field, we had no chance from the position we were in. 12th - REAL CLASS (Andrew Mallyon) We moved into the race really nicely before we got deleted and didn't get our chance. 13th - SWELTERING (Rachel King) She jumped well to offset the bad gate and travelled well for the first half of the race, before hitting a flat spot. But she still finished off well. 15th - ECLAIR ENCORE (Damien Thornton) She was very disappointing today. 16th - PLEASURE ARTIST (Cejay Graham) I think she's probably just looking for a break now. 17th - SHANGRI LA IMPACT (Tim Clark) It's only her first preparation and it probably all caught up with her today. Champion jockey James McDonald timed his run to perfection aboard Joliestar in the $1 million Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday. The Chris Waller-trained mare came from well back in the field to claim the weight-for-age feature in the final stride. Joliestar defeated Zarastro by a nose with a similar margin back to Golden Mile in third. It just didn't feel like I was making ground. I was lucky I was on a proper horse, even though she didn't like the ground at Eagle Farm today. 2nd - ZARASTRO (Angela Jones) So gutsy. He was all the way there, he was there to the last stride. Very proud. 3rd - GOLDEN MILE (Jason Collett) Good performance. Positioned himself well from the gate and still there at the finish. Happy. 4th - KIMOCHI (Craig Williams) She was really good and solid. Gave me a lovely ride throughout, the leaders got a break and we had to chase them down and she stuck to the task really well. 5th - RISE AT DAWN (Ethan Brown) He found them a bit sharp off the bridle but he ran really well. He blew out a bit late but up in trip is going to suit him and I think he's come up really well this prep. 6th - GIGA KICK (Mark Zahra) Joliestar had a bit more tactical speed than us early so I came back and followed her. We gave them a big start but I probably would have liked him to finish off a bit better, like the winner. 7th - BENEDETTA (Tim Clark) She had a good run, it worked out beautifully. Just felt she lost a bit of confidence around the bend on that shifty ground and she has done a bit of racing this preparation so she may have just come to the end of it. 8th - LIBERTAD (Jamie Mott) A little bit below his best today. He had a perfect run but just found he wasn't at his best. 9th - PAYLINE (Tommy Berry) He gave himself a real good whack out of the gates and never felt great after that.
