As a SEBI-registered Market Infrastructure Institution, NSDL provides services including demat operations, trade settlements, e-voting, pledge management, and corporate actions. The company serves 3.94 crore active demat accounts through 294 depository participants as of March 2025. Its subsidiaries, NSDL Database Management and NSDL Payments Bank, provide e-governance and digital financial services. In FY25, NSDL reported revenue growth of 12% to Rs 1,535.19 crore and profit after tax increase of 25% to Rs 343.12 crore. KRBL shares surge over 18% in two days as Q1 profit surges 74% YoY

Shares of KRBL extended their rally for a second straight session, rising 3% on Monday to touch a 52-week high of Rs 440 apiece on the BSE. The stock has rallied over 18.5% in the last two trading sessions on the BSE after the basmati rice major posted a strong set of Q1FY26 numbers. ADVERTISEMENT The company's profit after tax (PAT) for the quarter jumped 74% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 151 crore, compared to Rs 87 crore in Q1FY25, supported by robust revenue growth and improved operational performance. Sequentially, PAT was down 2% from Rs 154 crore in Q4FY25. Revenue from operations rose 32% YoY to Rs 1,584 crore from Rs 1,199 crore, aided by strong demand in both domestic and export markets. On a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis, it was higher by 10%. Further, KRBL's total income grew 32% YoY to Rs 1,617 crore, compared to Rs 1,221 crore in the same period last came in at Rs 225 crore, marking a 62% YoY increase from Rs 139 crore, with EBITDA margin improving to 13.9% from 11.4% a year ago, though slightly lower than 16.2% in gross profit stood at Rs 415 crore, up 46% YoY from Rs 283 crore, with gross profit margin expanding to 25.7% from 23.2% last year, though it slipped 9% sequentially from Rs 458 crore in Q4FY25. The biggest beneficiaries of this remarkable surge were State Bank of India (SBI), IDBI Bank, and SUUTI, who saw their shares, bought at just Rs 2, grow 650 times in value. SBI, the nation's largest bank, had acquired 60 lakh shares at an average price of Rs 2. This investment of Rs 1.20 crore has now escalated to Rs 7,801.80 crore, yielding an extraordinary profit of Rs 7,800.60 crore and an incredible return of 650050%. Similarly, IDBI Bank holds 2.99 crore shares, now valued at Rs 3,898.80 crore, while their purchase cost was only Rs 5.996 crore. SUUTI's investment of Rs 2.049 crore surged to Rs 1,332.68 crore in the same period. How Did Other Giants Fare? The NSDL rally has benefitted not only government entities but also other significant institutional investors. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) possesses 2.99 crore shares, bought at an average price of Rs 12. Despite selling a 9% stake in the IPO, NSE realised a profit of Rs 3,864.06 crore on the remaining shares, representing a return of 105 times. HDFC Bank made an 11-fold profit on its 1.38 crore shares, purchased at Rs 108.29 per share. Union Bank of India increased the value of its 51.25 lakh shares, bought at Rs 5.20, by 249 times, yielding a profit of Rs 664.23 crore. The surge has also favoured retail investors, with 10.31 lakh retail investors receiving allotments in NSDL's IPO. Those who have retained their shares are now reaping substantial profits. Experts predict that, given NSDL's leadership position, strong revenue visibility, and valuation, the stock will continue to be attractive for the long term.
