Inside Taylor Swift's Catalog Sales Boost After Masters Buy Back
Taylor Swift's fans are celebrating her masters buyback in the best way possible — by re-consuming all her music, including the original Big Machine studio albums. During the time the 35-year-old songstress did not have ownership of her works, she re-recorded and released the 'Taylor's Versions' of four of the six titles. This came after Scooter Braun sold Swift's music to Shamrock Holdings in 2020. However, the pop star has now officially bought back the master recordings.
On May 30, the singer announced her big career update with a touching letter. Following that, the artist's catalog saw a remarkable boost in streaming and sales. Variety reported that, according to preliminary data from Luminate, the pop sensation's entire catalog was streamed 30.64 million times on Friday. This marks a whopping 55.1% increase in her catalog streams. This jump included the six studio albums released by Big Machine as well as everything she put out since 2019 — her subsequent albums and the re-recordings.
Meanwhile, Spotify also shared streaming figures with The Hollywood Reporter. They revealed that streams on all of the original versions at least doubled on Friday, following the announcement. It was in comparison to the albums' average daily streams from April 1 through May 29. The digital music service noted that streams for 'Speak Now' rose 430% globally, resulting in the biggest individual spike.
Interestingly, the pop star's debut album 'Taylor Swift' and 2017's 'Reputation' — the titles that don't have a 'Taylor's Version' — also saw a boost. The records came in the second and third place, respectively, with streams jumping 220% and 175%. In contrast, 'Fearless,' 'Red,' and '1989' rose 160%, 150%, and 110%, respectively. The figures are especially remarkable for an artist who has no fresh music out at the moment.

The only Stranger Things star to correctly predict what the long-awaited spin-off would be, according to the Duffer brothers, says it could be an anthology "tied together through this mythology of the Upside Down"
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Finn Wolfhard knows what the forthcoming live-action Stranger Things spin-off will be about, and he's finally revealed what he thinks the Duffer brothers have in mind. "Like David Lynch's Twin Peaks," Wolfhard told Variety, when asked about the spin-off. "Sort of an anthology and different tones but similar universe or same universe. I think set in different places and all tied together through this mythology of the Upside Down. Don't even talk about Hawkins. Don't have any mention of our characters. They were toying around with ideas in case Netflix wanted them. I'm sure they do, and I'm sure it will happen, but there's nothing official. I think the coolest way, the way that I would do it, there has to be labs everywhere. If there was one in Hawkins, there's one in Russia. Where else could they be?' According to co-creator Ross Duffer, Wolfhard is the only person on the Stranger Things team who has "figured out what the spinoff is," and that not even "Netflix, not any of the producers, not any of the directors, not any of the actors" were able to guess correctly. Back in 2022, Duffer said that he thinks "everyone – including Netflix – will be surprised when they hear the concept, because it's very, very different." So while we now though it will likely be an anthology of sorts... we still don't know anything else. And given how long it took to get season 5 onto our screens, we can speculate that we won't know more about the spin-off until much later down the line. The flagship series is finally coming to a close, with the first part of season 5 set to hit Netflix on Thanksgiving. Stranger Things season 5 Volume 1 will release on Netflix on November 26, followed by Volume 2 on Christmas Day, and The Finale on New Year's Eve. How Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift Bonded After Dating the Jonas Brothers
THE RUNDOWN Selena Gomez is sharing the sweet story of how she and Taylor Swift first met. On the August 7 episode of the podcast Therapuss with Jake Shane, Gomez said she and her fellow singer initially bonded because they both dated the Jonas Brothers. 'I dated Nick and she dated Joe,' she explained. 'She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other.' Gomez shared that at the time, she was 15 and Swift was 18, and that Swift would even play her unreleased music. 'It was the crazy curly Taylor, and she had all these bracelets that went all the way up,' Gomez recalled. 'I believe 'Love Story' was the first song she ever played me. It wasn't released yet. I was in a hotel room, and I remember it vividly. It was just one of those songs I instantly heard and thought, 'This is one of the most beautiful songs ever.'' She continued, 'At that age, we became best friends and bonded over the breakup, as girls do. Then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after, and here we are now, 16 years later.' When Shane responded that he couldn't believe Swift played 'Love Story' for her, Gomez replied, 'I know. It was so sweet. She was like, 'Okay, I just want to play you this song, but I don't know if it's going to be the first single.' Just hearing her say those little thoughts and just listening to it... Yeah, she is a chameleon. She's incredible.' Gomez also clarified that she, Swift, and the Jonas Brothers 'all know and love each other now.'
