Actor Alon Aboutboul collapsed after a morning swim while vacationing
Israeli actor Alon Aboutboul, best known for roles in Snowfall, The Dark Knight Rises, and Rambo III, has died suddenly at the age of 60. His death was confirmed after he collapsed at HaBonim Beach near Tel Aviv on Monday morning, July 29, during what was supposed to be a routine swim while vacationing.
Aboutboul reportedly told bystanders that he was feeling unwell after exiting the water. Lifeguards immediately began CPR while awaiting emergency responders, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Paramedics at the scene confirmed his death shortly after arrival (Hindustan Times, KIRO 7).
From Israeli stages to Hollywood screens
Born on May 28, 1965, in Kiryat Ata, Israel, Alon Aboutboul (also spelled Abutbul) was widely regarded as one of Israel's most respected and versatile actors. He had a long, critically acclaimed career that spanned four decades, beginning with a breakout role in the 1983 Israeli film Hapnimiyah (Wikipedia).
International audiences likely remember him best as Dr. Leonid Pavel, the Russian physicist in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), directed by Christopher Nolan. He also portrayed Avi Drexler, a shrewd Israeli arms dealer, in FX's Snowfall from 2017 to 2022. Earlier in his career, he played Nissem in Rambo III (1988), sharing the screen with Sylvester Stallone.
Aboutboul also appeared in Body of Lies, London Has Fallen, Munich, and Septembers of Shiraz, among many others (Times of India).
A powerful legacy
Aboutboul was not just a film actor. He starred in over 50 Israeli productions and was active in theater, television, and voice acting. His ability to oscillate between gritty, emotionally layered performances and commanding action roles made him one of the most sought-after performers in Israeli cinema.
Despite his international fame, Aboutboul remained deeply rooted in Israeli culture and family life. He is survived by his longtime partner, director Shir Bilia, and their four children (The Sun).
Miki Zohar, Israel's Minister of Culture and Sport, issued a public statement following the news, calling Aboutboul 'one of the greatest and most talented actors in Israel.' He added that Aboutboul's passing was a 'deeply painful loss for the culture and art world in Israel' (Daily Beast).
Cause of death still unclear
At this time, an official cause of death has not been disclosed. Authorities have not indicated any foul play or prior medical conditions, although the sudden collapse is suspected to be health-related. The actor's family has not released additional details.
Fans and fellow actors across the globe have taken to social media to share tributes, posting stills from his most iconic scenes and reflecting on his powerful screen presence. In Israel, several television channels aired retrospectives of his most memorable roles throughout the day on Monday.
Alon Aboutboul's loss reverberates far beyond the screen. Whether portraying complex political figures or conflicted anti-heroes, he consistently brought depth and humanity to every character. His presence will be missed by audiences across continents.

Kash Patel's Girlfriend, 26, Confronted With MAGA Spy Accusations While Spilling on Their Relationship

Country artist Alexis Wilkins says she's had enough of the 'insanely ridiculous' conspiracy theories swirling around her romantic relationship with Trump's FBI Director Kash Patel. In a wide-ranging interview on Megyn Kelly's show, the 26-year-old dismissed MAGA chatter accusing her of being a secret Israeli 'honeypot' agent planted to compromise Trumpworld via the 45-year-old Patel. 'It would have been a really long-game play,' she joked, noting she began dating Patel 'a little over two and a half years ago—so, long before he was the head of the FBI.' The singer's pushback echoes a recent online statement in which she blasted 'accounts that are farming engagement' by branding her a Mossad asset. Those claims erupted after the Justice Department said the long-awaited Epstein files contained no 'client list,' prompting furious MAGA influencers to look for a scapegoat. Some trolls fixated on Wilkins' stint making educational videos for conservative education company PragerU. Online bios of the company's CEO, Marissa Streit, have noted her previous service in an Israeli intelligence unit—but there is no evidence that Wilkins has any connection to Israel. The attacks on Wilkins came as part of a broader trend among young MAGA commentators who have folded Israel into their conspiracies around Epstein. As reported earlier this month, one account even misidentified the Arkansas-raised singer as a 'Jewish' country singer. On Kelly's show, Wilkins confirmed that she is a Christian who spent part of her childhood in the U.K. and Switzerland. A 2023 profile said Wilkins attended the Collège du Léman school in Switzerland—which former Fox News star Tucker Carlson also attended—and that her father worked for Gillette, while her mother was in the pharmaceuticals and aerospace industries. Wilkins told Kelly she understands why people might think she was a spy. 'I think people see certain pieces and I get it,' she said. 'They want to connect things, they want to justify, you know, some of the pain that that they've been through watching the last four years, and there's pieces of this that, you know, I can, I understand. 'But I think that they've taken just these pieces of evidence that you laid out and tie them together in all of the wrong ways.' Wilkins also walked Kelly through her small-town bona fides—growing up in Arkansas, shipping in country albums from the States while her family lived briefly in Europe—before revealing the Nashville house party where she and Patel first crossed paths. 'We just happened to meet,' she said, at an 'event that we both went to at a friend's house.' The pair's 19-year age gap, Wilkins added, never felt relevant compared to his 'incredible character' and their shared patriotism. 'I have always liked, when I met him, I just liked that he was so, so honest,' gushed Wilkins. 'He's exactly who he is all the time. His character is incredible. His values are incredible.' 'And, you know, we both are very patriotic. So obviously there are things there that we definitely agree on, but he's just the most honest, you know, most integrity I've really experienced in a person, he's fantastic,' she added. Regarding the spy claims, Wilkins' political persuasion is hardly a secret: she hosts a weekly Rumble show, has long worked with veterans' charities, and flatly rejects what she calls the 'left-woke institution.' It's not 'like there's not enough information out there about me to glean a real conclusion on all of this kind of vigilante research,' she said. But being outspoken, Wilkins argued, should not make her a target for antisemitic fantasies. 'Seeing these things twisted is not only very confusing, very out of left field for me, but also incredibly disheartening. 'It's, it's bizarre to me, you know, as a, as a—pretend I'm a third person—it just, it doesn't make any sense.' Solve the daily Crossword

Adobe Wants You To Use Firefly AI To Complete An Artist's Unfinished Film

Cars floating in the sky. Upside-down skyscrapers that remind you of Christopher Nolan's "Inception." Confused protagonists standing on the ledge, running in the woods, driving an off-road bike, or piloting a fishing boat inside a flooded museum. None of this makes sense, and everything does, because it's art imagined by director and AI artist Sam Finn, who partnered with Adobe to make a video that's under two minutes long titled "The Unfinished Film." Created with Adobe's Firefly suite of AI tools that have received significant upgrades in recent months, "The Unfinished Film" is "more than just a creative experiment," according to a blog post from Adobe. "It's a community storytelling project designed to celebrate creative freedom and collaboration. We started with a simple question: What happens when you hand off an idea—not a finished product—to the creative community and invite them to take it further?" "The Unfinished Film" can be a great marketing tool for Adobe, as the company is inviting creators to come up with their own versions of it. AI image and video generators have gone viral more than once, with ChatGPT's 4o image generator, Google's Veo 3, and Higgsfield Soul being good examples. Adobe Firefly could also benefit from the same popularity among creators. Specifically, Adobe wants them to use the AI image, video, and audio tools available in Firefly to complete "The Unfinished Film." It's an initiative meant to showcase the growing abilities of the Firefly AI suite to help creators put together anything they imagine with incredible ease. Adobe explains in the blog post that it spent time with creators involved in the video-making process, including editors, filmmakers, and creative teams, to understand what they want. The company says it learned they want amplification, or "tools that spark new ideas, speed up workflows, and preserve creative control," rather than the automation that AI tools can offer. Firefly is a collection of AI tools available on desktop and mobile that Adobe continuously updates. Earlier this year, we saw Adobe launch Firefly apps for iPhone and Android that complement the Firefly desktop experience and add exceptional third-party AI tools to the app, including Google's Veo 3 and Imagen 4, and Runway's Gen-4 video generator. Firefly Boards supports moodboarding and ideation, so the entire creative process can take place inside the app. Whether you use the Firefly AI models or rely on third-party options, Firefly lets you do everything in one place. You can generate images and make AI videos controlling everything about the scene and camera with simple text prompts. Firefly supports audio and effects generation for your productions. All AI content created with the Firefly apps contains a Content Credentials watermark that indicates that a specific piece of art was developed with the help of AI. Visible watermarks would be even better, but they aren't suitable for all projects. What's also important is that Adobe doesn't use your creations and upload data to train its generative models. Change The Unfinished Film Any Way You Want Creators excited about the opportunity to edit "The Unfinished Film" with Firefly AI can download it and do whatever they want with it. Adobe encourages them to remix and reshape it and then share it on social media with the #AdobeFirefly hashtag. Unfortunately, there's no contest here, which would have worked even better to make this Adobe idea go viral. The company's social channels, including Instagram, feature four versions of "The Unfinished Film" from storytellers who already use AI to bring their concepts to life: Noémie Pino, Phil Cohen, Jad Kassis, and Keenan Lam. Some of them kept Finn's narrative structure and modified it by adding their own perspective and ideas. Others recut Finn's film and only used a few sequences that served as inspiration. Pino's version of "The Unfinished Film" stood out to me. The artist didn't jump straight into Firefly to get the AI image and video generation tools working for her. She storyboarded her ideas and then created her own protagonist out of clay. Pino took photos of the real-life objects, edited them with Adobe's tools, and then used the images to direct the AI. She then inserted the animated version of her clay character in Finn's "Unfinished Film," turning it into her own story. Also interesting are the short behind-the-scenes clips these four creators made to show how effortless it is to use Firefly AI to bring your ideas to life immediately, without waiting for someone to approve a budget, create special video effects, and manage a production set. Lam's BTS tutorial for "The Unfinished Film," which you'll see on social media, stands out for its creativity. Read the original article on BGR.
