In a first, 3-day meet for women cops to be held from Aug 20
Director General of Police Dr. Jitender said that the conference will be useful for women police to work more efficiently and will provide them an opportunity to express their issues openly.
Officers from other uniformed services such as Excise, Prisons, Forest, and Transport Departments, along with senior officers and subject matter experts from other States, Central Police Forces, and allied entities will attend the event to share best practices and foster collaborative learning.
The primary objective of the conference is to facilitate the drafting of a comprehensive Gender Policy Document to serve as a strategic framework for enhancing integration, empowerment, and well-being of women in the Telangana Police. It will also address specific issues such as uniform design for various stages including pregnancy and maternity.

79th Independence Day celebrated in TN
TIRUNELVELI: Tirunelveli collector Dr R Sukumar hoisted the national flag and inspected the guard of honour during the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the VOC ground here on Friday. Pottaloorani residents seek freedom from fish feed producing units
THOOTHUKUDI: Residents of Pottaloorani pasted posters across the village on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, demanding freedom from fish feed companies polluting their village here on Friday. The agitation committee against fish feed companies, which has been protesting against three companies causing foul odour for more than 450 days, pasted posters across the village demanding freedom from these pollution-causing companies. Meanwhile, district collector K Elambahavath hoisted the national flag and inspected the guard of honour in the presence of Superintendent of Police Albert John, at Tharuvai grounds on Friday. Over 705 students from several schools participated in the cultural programmes. Elambahavath distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 5.49 crore to 79 beneficiaries. He also distributed certificates of appreciation to officers from various departments.

Madurai Collector honours freedom fighters on Independence Day
Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar on Friday hoisted the national flag and handed over welfare measures worth ₹42.21 lakh to 42 beneficiaries at the 79th Independence Day celebrations held at the Armed Reserve Police Grounds here. The Collector inspected the guard of honour and took the salute at a parade presented by the police, the fire and rescue services personnel, the home guards and the NCC cadets. Mr. Praveen Kumar honoured freedom fighters and their family members at the event. The Collector also honoured 314 government employees of various departments for their meritorious service. Pulmonologist M. Palaniappan was honoured for his contribution in the field of medicine. A total of 1,021 students from various schools in Madurai district presented cultural performances. Traditional and cultural events were held as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The audience were captivated by the performances of the children. Inspector General of Police (South Zone) Prem Anand Sinha, Madurai City Commissioner of Police J. Loganathan, Superintendent of Police B.K. Arvind, District Revenue Officer K. Anbalagan and other officials were present at the Independence Day celebrations. Earlier, the Collector visited the Gandhi Memorial Museum. He garlanded and paid floral tributes to the Gandhi statue at the Gandhi Memorial Museum.
