Badibata to mark repoening of schools across Andhra Pradesh today
Vijayawada: As the 2025-26 academic year begins on Thursday, schools across Andhra Pradesh are buzzing with excitement. Following instructions from State IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the education department has made elaborate arrangements to mark the reopening day with a grand celebration.
As per the official date, a total of 58,950 schools, including 44,617 govt schools, 13,249 private recognized schools, and 84 private-aided schools, will simultaneously reopen on Thursday.
To welcome students back, the govt has launched a statewide programme called 'Badibata.' As part of this initiative, teachers will greet students with enthusiasm and provide them with specially prepared school kits containing textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, shoes, belts, and other essential supplies.
Teachers will also introduce students to the new class curriculum through orientation sessions.
In addition to the festivities, the education department is taking steps to address the issue of school dropouts. Headmasters and class teachers will conduct a review of admissions and dropouts, verifying how many new students have joined and investigating reasons behind any withdrawals. A week-long school dropout survey will also be conducted, where teachers will visit students' homes to understand the cause of absenteeism and counsel parents to re-enroll their children.

Meanwhile, district education officers (DEOs) will launch a crackdown on unrecognized schools, warning parents that enrolling children in such institutions could lead to academic and legal complications. Lists of non-recognized schools will be publicly released in each district.
Guntur DEO CV Renuka emphasized that the approach will be child-friendly, focusing on making the transition from vacation to school enjoyable and stress-free. "We want school reopening to be memorable for every child," she said. "Our approach is child-friendly—gradually introducing students to learning through games and songs."

Rally to curb child labour held in Dhanbad
Dhanbad : Marking the World Day Against Child Labour, a rally and awareness campaign was organised on Thursday in the colliery areas of Dhanbad to highlight the need to eradicate child labour and protect the rights of children. The event, held in Jharia and extending to various parts of the town, witnessed the participation of social workers, teachers, coal workers, and even former child labourers. The rally, initiated from Jharia, passed through several coal-rich zones, drawing attention to the widespread practice of child labour in the region. Participants raised slogans and held placards demanding strict action and public cooperation to end child labour. The march aimed to sensitise local communities and families about the value of education and the dangers of involving children in hazardous work. Pinaki Roy, one of the organisers, highlighted the grim reality in the coal belt. "It is extremely difficult to curb child labour in this area, as parents themselves often push children into it. Some even take them into open coal mines for cutting and collecting coal," he said, calling the situation ironic and tragic. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! Sonsoddo gradient: Muslim groups question kabrastan site feasibility
Margao: As the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) works to remove bottlenecks in its long-pending kabrastan project, Muslim community members are pointing to an existing consultancy report to question the feasibility of the 30,000sqm land acquired at Sonsoddo. They said only 2,500sqm would actually be available for burial purposes. The community's concerns are based on the consultant's survey report, which identified the difficult terrain of the acquired plot. It stated that much of the land has a gradient higher than 25% and is not developable under the current town and country planning rules and regulations. The consultant found that substantial hill cutting and land development would be required to make even the small usable portion suitable for burial purposes. According to the survey, only the lower southern section of the plot, measuring approximately 2,500sqm and 15m wide, could potentially be developed after extensive hill cutting. The steep gradient of the land has emerged as the primary constraint limiting the project's scope. Abdulmatin Daud Carol, a representative of the Muslim community in the kabrastan matter, said the access road leading to the proposed kabrastan has a steep 60-degree gradient. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP? Also, a mandatory 30m buffer zone would be required, constraining the usable area even more, he said. The MMC earlier decided to reserve 1,000sqm of the 30,000sqm land for the burial of persons of different faiths. On Wednesday, the MMC unanimously agreed to sign a deed of exchange for land with the parties concerned, which is required for an access road to the proposed kabrastan site. This followed a fresh survey report that revealed encroachments on the access road to the site. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . His brother Ajaykumar is feared dead. "There was a loud noise," Viswashkumar told cousin Dhirendra Somabhai from his hospital bed. "The plane hung suspended mid-air. Video clips show him stumbling through debris, bloodied and dazed, shouting: "Plane fatyo che! Plane fatyo che! (The plane exploded)." Rescue workers and locals pulled him toward an ambulance. At the hospital, he cried out: "Where is my brother? Leave me alone. I don't want to talk. Can anyone tell me where he is?" Officials sealed off the ward around 2.30pm after he was identified.
