Royal Caribbean closes loophole in beverage-package policy

Royal Caribbean closes loophole in beverage-package policy

Travel Weeklya day ago
Royal Caribbean International now requires both stateroom guests of drinking age to purchase the deluxe beverage package if at least one does so, eliminating an exception previously made for guests who do not drink.
The cruise line indicated that it implemented the change because too many guests were using the exception as a loophole and ordering drinks for more than one guest with a single package.
"This change allows us to ensure guests are consuming their beverage package responsibly," a spokesperson said.
"Over time, requests for exceptions have increased, and sharing of packages has continued, which led us to implement this policy change."
The change took effect Aug. 1.
The deluxe beverage package affords guests unlimited alcoholic drinks both onboard and at Royal Caribbean's private destinations.
