Cruise ship crew member stabbed female colleague, 28, before jumping overboard to his death in Caribbean

A crew member on the world's largest cruise ship stabbed his female colleague before jumping overboard to his death, according to police.
The two crew members, whose identities have not been revealed, were working aboard the lavish Icon Of The Seas shortly before 7.30pm on Thursday evening, when they became embroiled in a "personal dispute".
The man repeatedly stabbed the woman in the upper body and then leapt overboard into the sea off the coast of San Salvador Island in the Bahamas.
As panicked passengers threw life rings into the water, onboard medical staff rushed into a speedboat to rescue him.
Half an hour later, the body of the 35-year-old South African man was retrieved from the sea by the search party.
The woman, aged 28, also from South Africa, was later found on board with stab wounds to her upper body but she is now in a stable condition, Royal Bahamas Police Force told NBC News.
Reports state that the cruise ship immediately slowed down and turned around when the alarm was sounded that the man had gone overboard.
Tracking data shows the ship changed its course northeast of San Salvador Island, around 200 miles east of Nassau.
The decks were sealed off while an emergency rescue effort was carried out.
Images showed medical officers pulling the man's body from the water on to the speedboat.
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said: "One of the crew members was injured, was attended to by the onboard medical team, and she is now in stable condition.
'Unfortunately, the other crew member is deceased after he went overboard and was recovered in a search and rescue operation.'
They added that "a personal dispute" is understood to have led to the attack.
Investigations are ongoing and an autopsy is due to take place to determine the man's cause of death.
The Icon of the Seas holds the record as the world's largest cruise ship, measuring 1,196ft in length by 219ft in width, and it has no fewer than 20 decks. A total of 2,350 international crew members are employed on the ship.

Man laughed while confessing to repeatedly stabbing stranger in Twin Cities park, charges state

NOTE: This story contains graphic details about an attempted murder. A 20-year-old man from Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, faces life in prison after police said he "calmly" confessed to stalking and stabbing a woman at random in a park, and "even laughed" while being interrogated. According to the criminal complaint filed Monday in Hennepin County, Brooklyn Center officers were dispatched to the city's Willow Lane Park Sunday at 2 a.m. after a 911 caller admitted to attacking a woman struggling with homelessness. Police said the man admitted he "stabbed her around 20 times and enjoyed it," the complaint states, and was "wondering what the outcome of the stabbing was." Officers reported he was visibly covered in blood, which he said was the victim's. She was soon found and rushed to an area hospital, where she was treated for "at least five to 10 stab wounds on her arms, torso, chest, hands, shoulders and stomach." The victim is in critical condition but is expected to survive, the complaint states. Police say the suspect confessed to sneaking out of his home with a knife with the intention to kill a random person, which he said he's had the urge to do since he was 10 years old, according to court documents. The suspect said he first went to a nearby gas station and spotted the victim sitting alone on a bench. He said he followed her, eventually striking up a conversation and walking with her to the park. The complaint states the two sat on a bench and continued to talk until he revealed he wanted to kill her. During his attack, the suspect allegedly said he also kicked the woman several times in the head, ending the assault once she fell silent and he was "tired from stabbing her so many times." The suspect allegedly said he tossed his knife and left the scene because he didn't want to be shot by law enforcement. Court documents state he returned to his home, where he encountered a fellow resident who saw him covered in blood, directing them to forget what they saw. Police said the suspect said he changed shirts and washed his hands "because her blood smelled," the complaint states. Police said the suspect "showed no remorse" and "became very upset" when he learned the victim would likely live. He is charged with first-degree attempted murder, which carries the possibility of life without parole. His bail is set at $2 million.

Four teens charged after boy, 14, left fighting for his life in ‘horrific' Newham attack

Four teenagers - the youngest just 14 - have been charged with attempted murder after a schoolboy was left fighting for his life following a 'horrific attack' in east London. Police were called to reports of a stabbing in front of multiple witnesses on Charlemont Road, Newham, at 4pm on Saturday. Officers responded with paramedics and found the 14-year-old victim with serious knife wound injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition. Four out of five boys, aged 14 and 17, appeared at Stratford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday accused of his attempted murder. The fifth boy was released on bail pending further enquiries, the Metropolitan Police said. A force spokesman added: 'There are additional police officers deployed to the area for the reassurance of the local community.' Detective Inspector Joshua Palmer, from the North East command unit, said: 'This was a horrific attack on a teenager, witnessed by numerous members of the public. 'At this very early stage of the investigation, there doesn't appear to be an obvious motive for the attack. 'The boy is in a very serious condition in hospital, and we are urgently trying to gather as much information as possible. 'If you were near Charlemont Road on the day of the incident, please check your phone for any footage you may have. 'I would urge anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area to contact the police. It may be crucial in our investigation.' Anyone with information which could assist the investigation is asked to call 101 quoting 4847/26JUL25. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
