He said: "It's something that I've thought about and spoken about with my family. I think it's time. If you ask anyone, I'm not really an emotional guy.
"Nothing like that ever comes across with me, but when you've been somewhere for so long, and it is time to say goodbye, you just never know what your personal reaction is going to be.
"I've spent 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, and some downs, but the majority have all been highs.
"It's finally time to call it a day, which I'm devastated about it, but I think the timing it right."

Arsenal success can spur Australia to continental title, says Catley
May 31 (Reuters) - Defender Steph Catley says her UEFA Women's Champions League title win with Arsenal last week will act as motivation to secure continental glory with Australia when the country hosts the Women's Asian Cup next year. Catley and compatriots Caitlin Foord and Kyra Cooney-Cross were part of the Arsenal squad that defeated Barcelona in Lisbon last Sunday, before flying to Melbourne to feature in the Matildas' 2-0 win over Argentina on Friday. The game was the first in a two-match series against the South Americans as the Australians continue preparations for the continent championship in March 2026, when they will attempt to win the Asian title for the first time in 16 years. "I think it just gives you a little taste of what's possible," Catley said of the Champions League success. "But to actually do it, it makes me think about my career and the things I really want to achieve, and winning silverware with the Matildas has always been top of my list. "So, definitely, it makes me hungry. I've got a taste of trophies and (winning the Asian Cup) would mean a lot to me if we were able to do that. "It's coming up now, it's very close so it's good for the three of us to have the taste of that and be able to lead that hunt for success for our team." The Australians last won the Women's Asian Cup in 2010 with a victory over North Korea and have since finished as runners-up in 2014 and 2018 before exiting the 2022 edition in the quarter-finals. And while the Matildas reached the semi-finals of the Women's World Cup on home soil in 2023, they were eliminated in the group phase of the Olympic Games last year, prompting coach Tony Gustavsson's departure. The Swede has not been replaced on a permanent basis, with Tom Sermanni filling the role in an interim capacity, but Catley is confident the team is moving in the right direction as the Australians continue to unearth new playing talent. "Maybe it hasn't been the most successful few years but we still believe we can achieve something special," said Catley. "You see a player like Charli (Grant) come in tonight and she looks like she's been in the team for a few years, and we're still finding gems like that. "I think coming into a major tournament, that's the most important thing that you can try to do, is have a bit of depth there and some competition."

Arsenal's striker dilemma answered as second major Gunners deal close
Mikel Arteta has led Arsenal to a third successive runner-up finish in the Premier League but will need to strengthen with the expectation that the Gunners' rivals also improve As Arsenal continue to wait on Martin Zubimendi, they've been busy in other departments. Midfield and attack appear to be the main priorities this summer, while there has already been movement when it comes to offloading players who have found themselves on the fringes of late. Kieran Tierney and Jorginho are leaving the club this summer, while Neto and Raheem Sterling will return to their parent clubs after loan spells. There will be a fair bit of summer investment, though, with co-chair Josh Kroenke pointing to the arrival of new sporting director Andrea Berta as a precursor to a busy few months. "We plan to invest to get behind winning and doing better next season," Kroenke wrote in the programme ahead of Arsenal's final home league game. "We're delighted we have our sporting director, Andrea, who will play an important role in this. "He is part of a unified and strong team, supported by the board, who are crystal clear on exactly what we need to do and the way in which we want to do it. The right way. The Arsenal way." It's not just about new signings, though, with Arsenal also attempting to tie key men down to new contracts. Here are Mirror Football 's latest lines from around the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel contract talks progressing Arsenal are in advanced talks over a new deal for Gabriel after the centre-back's impressive season. According to BBC Sport, an agreement for the Brazil international is drawing ever closer. Gabriel and fellow centre-back William Saliba are both under contract until 2027, and there is a sense the Gunners want to avoid the risk of either entering the final year and potentially leaving for nothing. Real Madrid are known to be fans of Saliba, while Gabriel's form last season served Arsenal well in the league and in Europe. The 27-year-old has played more than 200 times for Arsenal since joining from Lille back in 2020. He also made his senior Brazil debut while with the Gunners, and has played in 13 of his country's 14 World Cup qualifying games. Striker dilemma addressed Arsenal's search for a new striker has been whittled down to two men - Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko. Mirror Football has weighed up the pros and cons of the pair, while Gyokeres' international manager has given his verdict on the Sweden star's next move. "No, of course not," Jon Dahl Tomasson told Swedish outlet Aftonbladet when asked if he had a preference over Gyokeres' next move. "Because then it would be blown up like this [stretches arms]. "There are definitely players changing clubs! We know that each year," he continued. "If you look at each player, you need to make the right choice. "You actually don't know if it's the right choice before you're at the club. You have family as well you have to have in mind. It's not easy, but at the end of the day, that's [football]." Ndicka deal off the table Evan Ndicka is set to stay at Roma despite interest from Arsenal. The French centre-back has impressed in Serie A despite a tumultuous season for his club, who cycled through three managers en route to a fifth-place finish. The Ivorian international, who joined the Giallorossi in 2023, didn't miss a minute in the league under Daniele De Rossi, Ivan Juric or Claudio Ranieri. He was also a regular as Roma reached the round of 16 in the Europa League eventually losing to Athletic Bilbao. According to Corriere dello Sport, though, he's going nowhere this summer. The publication names him as one of eight "immovable" stars set to stay in the Italian capital, with Gian Piero Gasperini expected to take over as manager next term.

Man Utd sent Bryan Mbeumo transfer warning sent as latest striker bid fails
Manchester United's summer transfer plans suffered a setback after Liam Delap snubbed them in favour of Chelsea, with the Red Devils now scrambling for an alternative striker Manchester United's transfer window is already unravelling with top striker target Liam Delap having snubbed the Red Devils in favour of Chelsea. In a piece of more welcome news Matheus Cunha is on his way to Old Trafford for £62.5million. United's recruitment chiefs will now turn their focus to a new striker. Their initial plan had been to sign Ipswich's Delap for around £30m, but that pursuit is in tatters, with the Englishman instead heading to Chelsea. That has forced United to look into alternative targets, such as Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. The Bees are keen to get their money's worth out of the 25-year-old, who still has another year on his contract, with a club option for an extra 12 months. But a big fee is not something United are likely going to be able to raise, without major sales. One player who is looking to leave is Antony, with the winger closing in on a move to Real Betis. The Brazilian spent the second half of the season on loan at the La Liga side and hopes to make it permanent. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United transfer news. Mbeumo warning sent Manchester United will have to pay out a mega fee for Bryan Mbeumo if they want to sign the Brentford star. Bees boss Thomas Frank has insisted that his club will not be afraid to reject bids they deem to be too low. 'It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount. It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot,' Frank told tipsbladet. 'Then it is clear that it is impossible to replace him one for one. It cannot be done. "There is a reason why he costs x number of million pounds, and we do not have x number of million pounds to buy for. I would say that I would be surprised if a lot of big clubs don't look at him. He is a good player.' Antony talks scheduled Manchester United and Real Betis chiefs will meet next week to discuss the transfer of Antony. The Brazilian flop spent the second half of the season on loan at Betis and hopes to make that move permanent. According to Marca, one of the first 'pending issues' of the summer for Betis is the signing of Antony. There is said to be 'enourmous satisfaction' with his performances since his arrival in January, with 'complete and absolute consenus' to bring him back permanently. Betis have now scheduled a meeting with United chiefs for next week to assess the various scenarios. Nothing has been ruled out yet, including another loan deal, with Antony set to be forced to take a pay cut if he wants to return to Betis. Striker bid fails Manchester United's bid to sign Jonathan David looks to be over with the Canadian set to snub a move to the Premier League. David has starred for Lille but will leave the Ligue 1 side on a free transfer this summer. United had been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, who helped to fire Lille to the French title in 2021. But according to iNews, David has instead set his sights on moving to Serie A. Italian champions Napoli and rivals Juventus are expected to battle it out for the Canadian. Napoli are the frontrunners to sign him having made David's representatives a 'concrete offer', though Juve are hoping to steal in under their noses.
