Regina police have charged two more people with first-degree murder in connection to the death of 35-year-old Aron Lunan, whose body was found near Grand Coulee in June.
Thirty-year-old Patrick Akapew and 38-year-old Tyler Wayne Edwards were both arrested and charged on Thursday, Regina police said in a news release.
Twenty-four-year-old Britain Volk was charged with first-degree murder earlier this week.
On June 10 RCMP were called to a rural area near Grand Coulee, just west of Regina, for the report of a deceased person, later identified as Lunan.
Throughout the investigation police discovered that the case originated in Regina, which resulted in Regina police taking over the investigation from RCMP.
Akapew and Edwards are scheduled to make their first court appearances Friday morning in Regina, police said.
Grand Coulee is about 17 kilometres west of Regina.

Man accused of running Canada's largest grandparent scam network arrested in Quebec

Gareth West, the alleged leader of a network of grandparent scammers accused of defrauding $30 million from American seniors, has been arrested. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) arrested him in Quebec on Friday on behalf of American investigators who have charged him with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit to money laundering, an RCMP spokesperson confirmed to CBC. Last month, CBC published a story detailing West's alleged criminal activity. Investigators allege he ran a lucrative and complex grandparent scam network that employed dozens of people out of multiple Montreal-area call centres. Meanwhile, West presented himself as a wealthy real estate developer. Last year, police raided locations across the Montreal area where West's alleged employees were found making scam calls to elderly victims in Virginia, according to information in an indictment filed in U.S. court. Then, in early March, RCMP officers arrested 23 people accused of participating in the scam. But West eluded them for several months. A source with knowledge of the situation who requested to remain confidential said West had been staying at a house in Burlington, Ont., around that time. WATCH | CBC's investigation into Gareth West: How CBC investigated an alleged grandparent scam mogul 13 days ago Duration 4:22 Gareth West lived a life of luxury. He said he made his money from buying and selling real estate in Montreal and southern Ontario. Now, he's been charged with orchestrating a $30-million scam network. When police went to that house, West wasn't there because it was being renovated. He was staying in a nearby rental home, the source said, but when officers arrived there, he was gone. One other alleged member of the scam network, Jimmy Ylimaki, remains on the run. If extradited to the U.S. and convicted, West could face up to 40 years in prison.

Man re-arrested on child pornography charges at Winnipeg air force base

A man has been taken back into custody, months after he was arrested at a Winnipeg air force base on a charge of invitation to sexual touching and other child pornography-related charges. The 31-year-old was re-arrested Wednesday after police searched a residence at 17 Wing, a Royal Canadian Air Force Base in west Winnipeg, police said in a news release. Multiple electronic devices were seized during the search. He now faces more charges of accessing child pornography and possession of child pornography, as well as seven counts of failure to comply with a release order. The man had been arrested at the base on April 16, following a child pornography investigation. He was accused of photographing an undressed child he knew and uploading the images to social media between May 2018 and April 2019. The man allegedly persuaded the child to engage in sexual activity in 2020. Winnipeg police told CBC News at that point the 31-year-old was not a civilian. He was released under conditions that included not accessing the internet or having access to anyone under 18 years old. Police said they are not naming the man in order to protect the identity of the youth involved.
