Devil Wears Prada shares tribute after former drummer Daniel Williams dies in San Diego plane crash
Metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada has paid emotional tribute to their former drummer Daniel Williams, following his death in a tragic private jet crash alongside music agent Dave Shapiro.
In an Instagram post featuring photos of Williams and Shapiro, the band wrote: '♥️ no words. We owe you everything. Love you forever.'
Williams, 39, was part of the band's original 2005 lineup and remained a key member until 2016. Known for his energetic drumming and foundational role in shaping the band's early sound, his death has prompted a wave of mourning from fans and fellow musicians alike.
The crash occurred early Thursday morning as a Cessna 550 aircraft, owned by Shapiro, attempted to land at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in San Diego. The plane had departed from New Jersey with a fuel stop in Kansas before it hit a power line in dense fog and crashed in a residential area, causing a massive fireball that destroyed homes and set vehicles alight.
Williams had shared a final Instagram story showing himself in the cockpit, joking that he was the 'co-pilot now.' Shapiro, 42, was also a trained pilot and a respected music executive who co-founded Sound Talent Group. Two other agency employees also died in the crash.

While no deaths were reported on the ground, eight people sustained injuries and multiple homes were damaged. Emergency crews evacuated residents as leaking jet fuel intensified the fire.
Tributes to both men continue to pour in. The music community has honoured Shapiro for his industry impact, while fans of The Devil Wears Prada remember Williams for his musical legacy and vibrant spirit. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading an investigation into the crash's cause.

Blake Lively steps out after speaking against lawsuit dismissal, vow to advocate for all women
Blake Lively made a poised public appearance at Chanel's annual Tribeca Film Festival Dinner in New York City just hours after a federal judge dismissed Justin Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit against her and husband Ryan Reynolds. Photo: GC Images Lively wore a white crochet dress and smiled for photos before entering the venue, marking her first public outing since the ruling. 'Last week, I stood proudly alongside 19 organisations united in defending women's rights to speak up for their safety,' she wrote on Instagram. 'Like so many others, I've felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us.' Though victorious in court, Lively highlighted the struggle many face without resources. 'While the suit against me was defeated, so many don't have the resources to fight back,' she said. 'I'm more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every woman's right to have a voice in protecting themselves.' Lively ended her message with: 'I will never stop appreciating or advocating for you.' Photo: Instagram She urged followers to support advocacy organisations including the National Network to End Domestic Violence and the National Organization for Women. The case began in 2024 after Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during production of It Ends With Us. Baldoni denied the claims and filed a countersuit, which Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed on 9 June. Some legal claims may be amended by June 23.
