This elusive fashion designer is finally stepping into the spotlight

Rachel Gilbert doesn't do the Sydney social scene. You won't find her at long lunches or at the opening of a new bar. In fact, she's barely been a presence at Australian Fashion Week, showing just once in the 20-year history of her eponymous brand. She rarely gives interviews and has a private Instagram account.
Yet the Sydney-based designer is one of the country's most successful fashion exports. This year alone, the brand has grown year-on-year sales more than 600 per cent. Celebrity fans include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Gilbert's friend Julie Bishop, who famously wore a blue sequinned dress by her on budget night in 2019.

John Mulaney blasts 'violent threats' to Olivia Munn and their young family

John Mulaney says his family have received threats over Olivia Munn's comments about Ms. Rachel. The Everybody's Live host has hit out at people who have targeted his wife and their young kids Malcolm, three, and Mei, eight months, after Olivia admitted the YouTuber isn't a regular presence in their household. On Wednesday (11.06.25), John wrote on his Instagram Story: "An innocent comment my wife Olivia Munn made about what children's programs we like has somehow - unbelievably - been conflated with not caring about the deaths of children in Gaza. "Because of this, my wife and my two kids are now receiving violent and threatening comments and messages in her DMs. "This is absolutely insane and needs to stop. The people doing this are so wildly out of line and so unhelpful to any conversation. "You took a nothing comment to a dark and dangerous place. This kind of behavior isn't activism." Over the weekend, the Your Friends and Neighbors actress insisted she wasn't a fan of her kids watching cartoons, or the YouTube star. She told PEOPLE magazine: "I know kids love [Ms. Rachel], but the thing is, if I can't watch it, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy. These kid shows drive me crazy. "Malcolm asked for Blue's Clues [recently], and I don't know who showed him Blue's Clues, but they are on my s*** list now. "I said, 'Hell no. Not in my house.' John got him into the Spider-Man cartoons, which is not interesting to me." The publication has since removed the interview for unknown reasons. Ms. Rachel - who has made calls for humanitarian aid to be sent to help children in Gaza - responded to headlines focused on Olivia's comment. She commented on Instagram: 'I'd rather you cover my advocacy for kids in Gaza.' The social media star clarified that she wasn't addressing Olivia, adding that she doesn't "care that she doesn't want to watch the show", and sent "all my love to her and her family". Olivia later admitted she "never anticipated" the direction her comments took. She wrote on her own Instagram Story: "My comments were never meant to diminish the joy, comfort and impact she brings to so many families. 'I don't want something taken out of context to be a moment that steals even a minute of joy for anyone.'

Brian Wilson's daughter pays tribute to late Beach Boys co-founder father

Brian Wilson's daughter has paid tribute to her late dad, admitting she feels "lucky" to have shared a "soul connection with him that will live on always". Carnie Wilson has "never felt this kind of pain before" after her late The Beach Boys co-founder father passed away on Wednesday (11.06.25), following a battle with dementia, but she likes to think Brian is now playing piano in heaven for his mother. She wrote on Instagram: "I have no words to express the sadness I feel right now. My Father @brianwilsonlive was every fiber of my body. He will be remembered by millions and millions until the world ends. I am lucky to have been his daughter and had a soul connection with him that will live on always. I've never felt this kind of pain before, but I know he's resting up there in heaven ... or maybe playing the piano for Grandma Audree his Mom. (sic)" Carnie admitted her Instagram post was "all [her] hands will let [her] type" just hours after her dad's death, and she is planning a lengthier tribute to her father in the near future. She added: "I will post something else soon but this is all my hands will let me type. I love you Daddy....I miss so much you already." Brian was best known for co-founding The Beach Boys in the early 1960s. His family confirmed the late star's passing by posting on his official Instagram page. It read: "Our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. "We are at a loss for words right now. "Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. "We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. "Love and Mercy." Brian - who was married to the late Melinda Ledbetter and had five adopted children with her, as well as Carnie, 57, and 55-year-old Wendy with his first wife Marilyn Wilson-Rutherford - formed The Beach Boys along with his brothers Carl and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine. The group enjoyed their first huge hit with 1963 tune Surfin' U.S.A, and they went on to have massive success with other tracks, including I Get Around, Good Vibrations and California Girls. Brian also dropped 11 solo studio albums, the last of which, At My Piano, was released in 2021.

Katy Perry and daughter Daisy wear teddy bear onesies to Luna Park as rumours of Orlando Bloom break-up swirl

Katy Perry may have performed three sold-out shows at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena in the past week, but that didn't stop her from having some fun offstage during the Aussie pit stop of her Lifetimes Tour. The US pop star made sure to visit one of our most famous attractions, Luna Park, with her 4-year-old mini-me daughter Daisy Dove on June 8, making it a Sunday funday indeed. But forget going in incognito for the outing – the duo wore matching bear onesies for their day out, with the 40-year-old accessorising her eye-catching outfit with lilac and orange sneakers and a Balenciaga bumbag strapped to her chest. Enjoying the thrills of the iconic theme park, the mother-daughter duo braved the popular Wild Mouse rollercoaster that offers stunning views of Sydney Harbour, which one can enjoy when not bracing one's self for 4 steep drops in 90 seconds. Perry has sure been out and about during her Aussie trip, which kicked off on June 4 and continues in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide until June 30. Last week, she was spotted trying to go under the radar at an unlikely location just hours after landing Down Under. The pop star landed in Sydney on June 3 one day ahead of her first show at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olympic Park, when she was seen wandering around nearby Lidcombe Shopping Centre in Western Sydney with Daisy in her arms. On this public outing, she kept the bear onesie at home, opting for a low-key tracksuit and jumper ensemble topped with a beige cap and dark sunglasses. Perry was seen browsing at Aldi supermarket and then had a look inside discount store Kmart. Despite her attempts to remain hidden, Perry was spotted by some fans, with whom she happily chatted and signed autographs. While Daisy has been firmly by her side, her long-term partner Orlando Bloom – Daisy's dad – is nowhere to be seen. In recent days, there have been multiple reports that their almost-decade long relationship is on the rocks. 'It's over,' one source told Page Six. 'They are waiting till her tour is over before they split.' Perry's tour, which kicked off in Mexico City on April 23, will end later this year on December 7 at Abu Dhabi's Etihad Park. The pair first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes after-party and were engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019. They welcomed Daisy in August 2020. Sources have told People that stress over the poor reception of her new album, 143, has caused 'tension' in the stars' relationship. 'Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album,' a source told the publication. 'It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.' Another source told the magazine, 'She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It's put stress on their relationship.' The singer herself fuelled rumours that she's split with Bloom after making cryptic remarks onstage. Perry was performing on the third night in Sydney when she alluded to a break-up. While singing her break-up song I'm Still Breathing, she opened up a packet of TimTams and began to snack on it. 'This song is about a break-up, and this TimTam saved me,' she told the audience. 'Thank you,' she added before offering out the biscuits to her fans in the front row.
