Beloved country singer Felipe, 24, dies in horrific but avoidable pick-up truck death
The promising artist had been hospitalized since Sunday when he fell off the back of a pickup truck in Araguaína, a city in the central state of Tocantins.
Felipe, whose real name was Felipe Alves, was in serious condition and being treated for cerebral edema at Araguaína Regional Hospital, according to his manager Diego Rony.
Brazilian newspaper Metropoles reported that Felipe fell headfirst from the speeding pickup truck.
Felipe joined his childhood friend Raphael Sousa in 2024 to form the group Felipe & Raphael.
A shocked Felipe paid tribute to his best friend with a heartbreaking post on his Instagram Stories that featured a picture of the duo smiling.
'I will always remember you like this, smiling, singing, motivating, and caring for everyone around you,' Felipe's caption read.
'Thank you for believing in my dream and including me in yours! I will always honor your name and always make a point of telling who Felipe really was, MY FELIPAO.
'Hug, talk, declare yourself, don't be afraid to live, life is short, a shot, fear and excuses will make you not value incredible people, everything passes very quickly in this world.'
The country music duo was planning their first project, an EP titled 'Extended Play,' later this year.
Rony lamented that he will not be able to hear Felipe's morning greetings any more.
'Felipe is no longer with us physically, and this pain is difficult to put into words,' the band manager wrote on his social media Tuesday. 'But what remains, forever, is what he left on our stages, backstage, in rehearsals, in conversations, and in our dreams.
'Our group will no longer have his "good mornings" or his messages, always full of life. But spiritually, he will remain with us - accompanying every step of our journey. Our family, our band, our work... our history.
'The duo Felipe & Raphael was born with a purpose and a flame that he helped to ignite. And this flame, now, will be kept alive by all of us.'
Brazilian country music singer Felipe, one-half of the duo Felipe & Raphael, was sitting on the flatbed of a pickup truck when it sped away and caused him to fall headfirst into the road pavement in Araguaína, a city in the central state of Tocantins, on Sunday. Felipe was rushed to Araguaína Regional Hospital, where he was treated for a brain injury and died Monday
Fellow country music singer Matheus Oliveira was stunned by the news of Felipe's death.
'You were AN INCREDIBLE LOVE! Thank you for all our moments, thank you for all the advice, thank you for all your help in difficult situations, thank you for the friendship, for the laughs, thank you FOR EVERYTHING,' Oliveira wrote.
Country music artist Yuri Geovanny wrote: 'Our last meeting was two weeks ago, and he told me how happy he was to be working on what he truly loved. Rest in the peace of Christ, my friend!'
'You were a light on this earth, my friend!' Felipe's friend, Dr. Fernanda Vitória added.
'Those who knew you know that you were a human being that everyone loved to be around. May God welcome you with open arms, prince!

DJ K: Radio Libertadora! review – explosive freedom and skilful cacophony
Over the past two years, Kaique Vieira, AKA DJ K, has been crafting a new sound of São Paolo. Influenced by local favela street parties, the 24-year-old producer takes the distorted bass, Afro-Brazilian rhythms and vocal melodies of baile funk – a dance genre that originated in Brazil in the 80s – and adds a darker palette of reverb-laden vocal lines, rave sirens and buzzing synths to create a style he calls bruxaria (witchcraft). Vieira's 2023 debut Pânico no Submundo was a 15-track introduction, harnessing the sound of blown-out speaker cones. Radio Libertadora! moves into even bolder and louder territory, developing his nascent genre into a source of dancefloor chaos. Opening with a sample of a 1969 radio speech by the revolutionary Carlos Marighella, which called on people to act against Brazil's military dictatorship – and gives the album its title – Vieira sets the tone for the record as an energetic riposte to the current criminalisation of baile funk street parties. In his bruxaria universe, the beats are hard, vocals are screamed and bass is explosive, creating an overwhelming, apocalyptic sound. Mega Suicidio Auditivo features siren squeals, thunderous bass, radio jingle samples and shouted lyrics within the first 20 seconds, while Sua Filha Quer Os D layers rap verses and synth melody over the Islamic adhan call to prayer. Techno de Favelado veers seamlessly from harsh Berlin techno to trance and baile funk rhythm while featured Meduza tries to make herself heard. Vieira displays immense skill in balancing his arrangements and allowing each element, no matter how brash, to play clearly without collapsing into muddy loudness. Some listeners may find it too noisy, but succumb to Vieira's relentless energy and there is freedom in the barrage of sounds – an invitation to lose yourself in the cacophony. Australian ensemble Hand to Earth release their latest album Ŋurru Wäŋa (Room40). Ambient electronics and bass drones anchor First Nations singer Daniel Wilfred's yearning vocalisations and Wáglilak language lyrics, producing six moving tracks that reflect on a search for home. Singer Ami Taf Ra's debut The Prophet and the Madman (Brainfeeder) combines Arabic vocal melodies with spiritual jazz ensemble arrangements to create a sprawling and involved interpretation of the work of poet Kahlil Gibran; Kamasi Washington features on How I Became a Madman, a soaring, virtuosic highlight. Brazilian guitarist Atletas delivers a luscious and warmly intimate record in Reflexão Meteórica (Municipal K7). Shades of electronic percussion and synths blend with his finger-picked guitar melodies to produce wistful, shimmering soundscapes.

Billy Ray Cyrus is writing 'sexy songs' for new 'muse' Elizabeth Hurley as romance deepens
Billy Ray Cyrus is inspired these days. The country music singer is writing 'sexy' love songs about new girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley already, Daily Mail has learned. 'His next album will include songs that are about Elizabeth for sure, he is definitely smitten with his new love and she has become his muse,' a source tells Daily Mail. 'Billy is always working on new music, but lately he has been doing even more love songs and it's clear why. He is very happy with Elizabeth, she is motivating him in a very big way. The songs are all about how she "heals" him and how sexy she is.' And the father of Miley Cyrus is also teaching the Austin Powers actress how to sing like a Country Western songbird, the source added. 'He feels she can sing, that singing is in her future, and maybe even a duet with him,' said the insider. The British beauty has sung in a movie before: with pal Patsy Kensit in the 1990 film Kill Cruise, where they performed the song You're Leaving Me. Hurley has appeared in music videos too. They were for Bryan Adams' song Never Let You Go and Adele's Send My Love (To Your New Lover).' Cyrus and Hurley have become serious ever since they went public on Easter after many years of friendship. Billy has already praised Elizabeth as a 'great human being'. They met while filming 2022's Christmas In Paradise. In a clip from The Ty Bentli Show, Cyrus said: 'We did very few scenes together but the couple times we were in the same scene there was a chemistry there. We just laughed, and it was at a time I wasn't laughing a lot. 'The oddest part was first, how much we laughed. Second, I figured we were so different but in some very strange way we had way more in common than we had different. 'If all we ever were [is] the friends that we are, I would take that. She's so impressively brilliant. She reminds me a lot of Dolly Parton. She's a very smart businesswoman. 'If you can laugh together, you can make it through everything.' While the pair met on the movie set, they didn't speak to each other for two years after shooting the film. But Elizabeth re-entered the crooner's life when he needed a friend, following his split from wife Firerose. He shared: 'I felt like, "Wow, can life get any harder? Can it get any tougher?" For me, at a certain point it was like, you can't get knocked down any flatter than laying on your back when life is kicking you. And in this moment... a friend reached out.' Billy didn't recognize the number at first, so he texted Elizabeth back. He recalled: 'I text back, I go, "Who is this?" And it's like, "Elizabeth Hurley." Of all the people to reach out to me in that second that maybe I needed most... this friend who made me laugh.' The Bedazzled star - who has 23-year-old son Damian from a previous relationship - shocked fans when she announced she was dating the Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker. On her 60th birthday Cyrus spent time with her son. 'Billy is always working on new music, but lately he has been doing even more love songs and it's clear why. He is very happy with Elizabeth, she is motivating him in a very big way,' added the source. She sure has kept her figure: Hurley in Bedazzled, left, in 2000 and modeling a bikini, right, this year She told Britain's HELLO! magazine before the party: 'I am looking forward to celebrating with Billy Ray. 'He should be in England for my birthday. He'll be meeting my family – and my dogs – and hopefully, it'll be lovely.' Elizabeth was not too worried about hitting 60 because she always enjoys her birthdays, but even more so when she reaches a milestone age.

Popular 90s country star shocks fans with rare appearance at beloved folk festival after decades-long absence
Attendees of the 2025 Newport Folk Festival were surprised by a rare appearance of a much loved country star. After decades of a hiatus from the festival, Mary Chapin Carpenter, 67, made her comeback to the festival stage - much to the delight of fans. Carpenter surprised the crowds by playing some of her hits from the 90s, including He Thinks He'll Keep Her, The Hard Way, and Down at the Twist and Shout. But she also included songs from her album Personal History which was released this year. This included The Saving Things and Bitter Ender for which she brought out her producer Josh Kaufman to help play. Carpenter didn't miss a beat, performing in a blue halter neck top with gold floral patterning, black pants and a pair of tinted sunglasses. In her typical fashion, she also brought a guitar on stage, singing acoustic to many of her most popular tracks. Festival goers posted clips of Carpenter in their droves, sparking long-time fans to applaud the performer for her enduring music career. She performed fan-favorites from the 90s including The Hard Way and He Thinks He'll Keep Her 'HUGE FAN back in the day! Bought all of her music!' one fan commented. 'Chapin is a national treasure!!' another wrote. Some fans even pointed out how 'underrated' the star is, considering her 30-year run in the industry. 'Love her! She was not given enough recognition!' one fan said. 'Man, looking back she was such a unique gem for country music to embrace in the 90s. Awesome!' another added. But Carpenter hasn't gone without any sort of recognition. During her career, the star has won five Grammy awards and 15 nominations, as well as two CMA awards and two Academy of Country Music, amongst other achievements. Carpenter is also a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. And while she may have not performed at the Newport Folk Festival in quite some time, this doesn't mean she's been missing in action in the music work. In fact, Personal History marks the artist's 17th album, one that she says is a release of her emotions. 'It felt a little different this time,' she said in an interview with American Songwriter. 'It felt like I was connecting dots and returning to stories that I had carried around in my back pocket for a really long time.'
