Pakistan continues hostilities, attack on places of worship in Jammu: Ministry of Defence
Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 10 (ANI): Pakistan continued its hostilities on Saturday and targeted places of worship including the Shambhu temple in Jammu and other residential areas of the region, as per a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
Multiple armed drones were sent through the night and which endanged civilians and religious sites, the statement further said.

Meanwhile, heavy cross-border shelling by Pakistan caused damage to homes and religious sites in J&K's Kupwara, Uri, and Poonch. Locals vowed to stand with the Indian army despite the attacks.
In Poonch, houses and water tanks in civilian areas suffered extensive damage. Balbir Singh, a resident in Poonch, said, 'The entire house is damaged. The adjacent houses have also suffered damage. Pakistan is targeting civilian areas. They are deliberately targeting Poonch. Gurdwara, temples and mosques - they have not spared anything. This is all the nefarious design of Pakistan that it is targeting civilians. People are scared but they have the spirit that they will continue to live here and stand with the Indian army.'
Meanwhile, Jammu Police and other agencies are working to retrieve projectile fragments from the site. Projectiles were recovered in Jammu's Bishnah and Lasjan areas, while splinters and debris were also found in Akhnoor, though no major structural damage was reported.
Four airbases in Pakistan were hit by Indian strikes in the early hours of Saturday, sources told ANI as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate. India launched the retaliatory strikes immediately after Pakistan attacked 26 locations across India, sources said. Intermittent firing is still going on at several places along the Line of Control (LoC). (ANI)

Delhi govt to start evening buses for tourists to PM Museum, War Memorial
Tourism minister Kapil Mishra on Friday said the Delhi government is going to start AC electric bus services to ferry tourists from Pradhan Mantri Sanghrahalya to the National War Memorial on an evening tour. He said more such bus services are being planned for other tourist places in the Capital. 'We have planned to start evening tours by AC electric buses from the Prime Minister Museum to the National War Memorial. We will hire new nine-metre electric buses from the Delhi Transport Corporation for the purpose. The service is going to start soon,' Mishra told HT. The Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya at Teen Murti Bhavan is a tribute to all Prime Ministers of India. The museum was inaugurated in 2022 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The National War Memorial at India Gate is a memorial to the valour and sacrifice of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in service to the nation. It was inaugurated in 2019 by Modi. Mishra said the details of other tourist places which will be covered under this service are being worked out and will be finalised soon. The minister said the buses will have a coloured design to make them stand out. An official in the minister's office said that according to the fare plans discussed so far, the bus ride will cost ₹500 for adults and ₹300 for children aged between six and 12. There will be a tourist guide on-board who will inform visitors about the significance of these places. Fares are likely to be finalised soon, officials said. While presenting the 2025-26 budget, chief minister Rekha Gupta had announced that her government would develop a new tourist circuit to cover the National War Memorial, Kartavya Path and the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya.

Air India Plane Crash: Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union government has set up a high-level committee to investigate the Air India plane crash that killed 241 people on board near Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat on 12 June. The Committee will examine the existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines issued to prevent and handle such occurrences and suggest comprehensive guidelines for dealing with such instances in the future, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said on Friday night. All passengers – except one – on board the Air India flight bound for London Gatwick Airport that crashed shortly after take-off from Gujarat's Ahmedabad airport on 12 June afternoon died. There were 242 passengers and crew on board the plane, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. One passenger, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, miraculously survived the crash. The Committee will not be a substitute for other enquiries being conducted by relevant organisations, but will focus on formulating SOPs for preventing and handling such occurrences in the future. 'The committee will have access to all records, including, among others, flight data, cockpit voice recorders, aircraft maintenance records, ATC Log and witness testimonies,' the Ministry said in the order. The committee will publish its report within three months. The government said that the panel will be headed by the home secretary and will include representatives from the state and central governments, not below the rank of joint secretary. Max Aerospace to set up Rs 8,000cr helicopter manufacturing unit in Nagpur
Nagpur: The state govt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with aircraft engineering and maintenance company — Max Aerospace & Aviation Private Limited — to establish in Nagpur what would be among the country's first private sector helicopter manufacturing units. The state govt hopes the project will give a major thrust to the defence manufacturing sector in Vidarbha. Currently, the public sector undertaking Hindustan Aeronautics Limited makes helicopters in the country. Airbus and Tatas also have plans to set up a unit in Karnataka. Max's MoU signed in the presence of CM Devendra Fadnavis and industries minister Uday Samant, comes soon after this. Talking to TOI, the CEO of Max Aerospace, Bharat Malkani, said the plan is to start building the plant by the middle of next year. The company is eyeing a collaboration with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across the world. Max is hopeful of striking a deal with an OEM soon, and an announcement will be made in the coming months, he said. Malkani stated the plan is to cater to both civil and defence sectors. Max is planning to make light and medium helicopters. In the defence sector, the idea is to serve the initially. There is a major need to cater to the Indian defence segment considering the strategic requirements of the country, he said. Max may need around 150 acres of land. Already in the maintenance business earlier, it planned to set up an aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) business in the Mihan-SEZ. However, the company withdrew after it found taxation rules concerning an SEZ not compatible with its business plans. Once the construction begins it hopes the plant would be ready in the next three-and-half years. India is one of the largest aviation markets, but there is hardly any presence in the manufacturing side. "Max plans to take the initiative and hopes that in the coming decades, the scenario may undergo a major change," he says. As it ties up with a global market, various models will be tried. A part of the components will be of the company's own proprietary design, he said. The project will have a centre of excellence for rotary wing platform customisation, integration, and flight testing, as per a press release issued from the chief minister's office. Locating the facility near the airport will enable it to provide basic support and logistics easily. CM said the govt hopes the company will start operations within the stipulated time.
