National Library of Wales launches its new strategy
The strategy was unveiled at a launch event on May 20, which also previewed a new 'Clip Corner' at the Wales Millennium Centre.
The strategy supports the Welsh Government's Priorities for Culture, aiming to make Wales' cultural legacy more accessible.
The 'Clip Corner', set to open in June, will provide free access to digitised film, video, and audio from the Wales Broadcast Archive and the Library's Screen and Sound Archive.
The archive, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Welsh Government, contains more than a century of television and radio broadcasts from BBC Wales, ITV Wales, and S4C.
The Clip Corner's location in Cardiff Bay represents plans to make library collections more accessible.
Other Clip Corners are already open in Llanrwst, Cardiff, Swansea, Conwy, Carmarthen, and Caernarfon, with more to open across Wales later this year.
The launch event at the Wales Millennium Centre featured a panel discussion with broadcaster Dot Davies, journalist Will Hayward, heritage leader Dr Gaynor Legall CBE, and Eluned Haf, Head of Wales Arts International.
They discussed the role of culture and heritage in shaping Wales' identity.
Rhodri Llwyd Morgan, Chief Executive of the National Library of Wales, said: "The launch of our new 2025-2030 strategy is a pivotal moment for Wales' cultural heritage — ensuring it is preserved, shared, and made accessible to all.
"The Clip Corner at the Wales Millennium Centre is a prime example of this vision in action."

Welsh games development companies receive funding boost
The Games Scale Up Fund for Wales, the first scheme of its kind, was launched by Creative Wales in partnership with the UK Games Fund earlier this year. It aims to help Welsh developers take their games projects from pilot stage to self-sustaining models, allowing for growth in scope, reach, and impact. The companies that will benefit from the initiative are Cloth Cat, COPA Gaming, Goldborough Studios, Rocket Science, Sugar Creative, and Wales Interactive. The announcement follows a successful trade mission to the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco in March, where five of the awarded companies showcased their projects and built new connections. Osian Williams, director of COPA Gaming, said: "Being backed by the Welsh Government through this scale-up funding isn't just a headline for us, it's a true game changer. "It gives our team the confidence and resources to move forward, grow sustainably, and to proudly create uniquely Welsh games for a global audience." Paul Durrant, CEO at UK Games Fund, added: "The Games Scale Up Fund for Wales has been a fabulous opportunity for us to see the breadth and depth of games development talent in Wales." Minister for Culture, Jack Sargeant, said: "Wales has an incredibly talented and ambitious video games industry that's making its mark on the global stage. "This investment is about giving our homegrown studios the financial backing to level up their operations and reach new audiences worldwide." He added: "The feedback they received from international publishers confirms what we already know - Wales is becoming a significant player in the global gaming landscape." Creative Wales currently has another fund open for applications. The Games Development Fund, closing on Thursday, June 5, offers between £10,000 to £50,000 to Wales-based businesses developing video and immersive games projects for commercial release.

Wildlife doodle workshop at Loggerheads Country Park
The event, organised by Nature for Health, will take place on Thursday May 29 and will feature a range of activities, including an interactive art installation by illustrator and artist David Setter, known as Doodleplanet. The artwork was commissioned through funding from the Welsh Government's Brilliant Basics scheme, which supports local authorities and national parks in improving visitor infrastructure at key tourism destinations across Wales. The fund aims to enhance the visitor experience, improve accessibility, and promote environmental sustainability by investing in essential amenities. Visitors on the day can enjoy a variety of activities, including a doodle workshop where participants can explore various drawing techniques, such as drawing games, speed drawing, and continuous line drawing. They will also have the opportunity to watch and learn from David as he demonstrates his drawing techniques, offering tips and tricks to help create wildlife masterpieces. All materials will be provided, and participants will be able to keep their artwork as a unique memento of the day. Councillor Alan James, lead member for local development and planning, said: "This workshop is perfect for all ages and skill levels. "Whether you're an experienced artist or just looking to try something new, come along and enjoy a day of creativity and fun in the beautiful surroundings of Loggerheads Country Park. Views sought on theatre and leisure centre project in Arnold
