West Bengal: NIA chargesheets four more in Priyangu Pandey mob attack case

New Delhi [India], June 17 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted four more accused in the 2024 West Bengal Priyangu Pandey mob attack case, an official statement said on Tuesday.
As per an official NIA release, 'Pious Prasad@ Sujal, Md. Tipu@ Tipua, Mohit Mahato @Sahi, and Md. Javed @Anda have been charged under various sections of BNS, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act in the 3rd supplementary chargesheet filed before the NIA Special Court, Kolkata, on Monday.'
'With this, a total of 18 accused have been chargesheeted so far, of whom 17 have been arrested and one is still absconding,' NIA said.
NIA further mentioned that in its investigations it has been revealed that the four men now chargesheeted were actively involved in the criminal conspiracy related to the attack on the entourage of Priyangu Pandey with explosives and firearms near Gate 3 No. of the Anglo Indian Jute Mill staff quarters in Police station Bhatpara area.
Priyangu Pandey and his team were on their way to the residence of former MP Shri Arjun Singh by vehicles when the attack took place. Pandey's driver Ravi Verma and one of his close aides, Rabi Singh, suffered gunshot injuries in the attack, central agency said in its release.
NIA is continuing with its probe in the case, an official release said. (ANI)

Asind man ends life over alleged loan harassment
Bhilwara: The death of 62-year-old Ladulal Teli, father-in-law of former Asind Pradhan Laxmi Devi Sahu, has been revealed as a suicide allegedly driven by harassment from moneylenders. Teli, a resident of Marvo Ka Kheda village, allegedly consumed poison on May 24 and succumbed to his condition during treatment at Bhilwara's Mahatma Gandhi Hospital on May 27. The case took a turn when, following the completion of fortnight-long death rituals, the family claimed to discover receipts of registered letters sent by Teli to the President of India, Rajasthan Chief Minister, local BJP MLA Jabbar Singh Sankhla and local administrative officials, detailing allegations of harassment through excessive interest charges by moneylenders. These letters are now being treated as suicide notes. Kanhaiyalal Sahu, the deceased's son, has filed an FIR naming several accused, including retired teacher Chandmal Mewada (80) and others. According to Sahu, his father had borrowed money from 10-15 individuals for business purposes and, despite repaying the principal amount, was trapped in escalating debt due to exorbitant interest rates. However, one of the accused, Tarachand Mewada (42), has denied these allegations, suggesting internal family disputes as the actual cause of the suicide. He maintained that he shared a close family relationship with Teli and questioned the authenticity of the suicide notes. Duo tries to run over man after parking brawl in Noida, held
Noida: Two men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly running over another man following a parking dispute earlier in the day. A video of the incident, which was widely circulated on social media, shows a group of men in a heated discussion on a road, with a moving barrier on the side. The fight escalates, and some of the men are pulled away by members of the group and told to go behind the barrier. Suddenly, a silver car breaks through the barrier and speeds towards the group. While most of the men move out of the way, one man in a white shirt is knocked to the ground. Balwinder Singh, who was hit, sustained injuries to both of his legs, police said. Later in the day, his brother filed a complaint at the Sector 126 police station stating that Singh was deliberately hit by a car following a parking dispute on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. An FIR was registered under BNS sections 109 (attempt to murder), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation). Accused Vipin Bhati alias Anshu, a resident of Faridabad, and Monu Bhati, a resident of Delhi, were arrested.

FIR filed after Noida private hospital gets mail with bomb threat
Noida: An investigation was launched on Tuesday after a private hospital in Sector 71 received a bomb threat over the weekend. A case was registered at Phase 3 police station and Cyber Cell officials have been roped in to help with the investigation. On Saturday (June 14), Kailash Hospital's medical superintendent Dr Rajesh Parashar lodged a complaint alleging a mail was received on the hospital's email ID around 4.52pm, threatening to blow up the hospital with a bomb, police said. The sender's ID was divijpprabhakaralashmi@ Following the protocol, the hospital management approached the police. Police later filed a case under BNS Section 351(4) (criminal intimidation) . According to police, the email could be the work of a miscreant, but complete details will reveal the motive behind it. In Feb, five schools received such threatening messages via anonymous emails. It was later found that a school student sent the mails to four of these institutions.
