It was yet another impressive result for Inter in Europe, in a season that has been full of them.
In the previous round, Inter eliminated Bayern Munich. They won their quarterfinal tie 4-3 on aggregate.
Meanwhile, Inter got a draw away to Manchester City in the league phase of the competition. Meanwhile, they beat the likes of Arsenal, RB Leipzig, and Monaco.
In the second leg, therefore, Inter will have plenty of confidence that they can get the better of Barcelona.
Then, in the final, the Nerazzurri could face one of Paris Saint-Germain or Arsenal.

'We know that they're a great team with quality.'
'Clearly we know that we could have been more careful when we were 2-0 up.'
'But they have quality,' the Brazilian added.
'It was a great semifinal. We hope that we can play a good match on Tuesday as well, and that we can reach the final.'
'This is the semifinals of the Champions League,' Augusto continued. 'There's always extra motivation.'
'But today we played as a team, because when you're up against a team of this quality you have to stay united, and we did well.'
'The second leg will also be a great match,' Augusto declared.
Augusto Calls Hellas Verona 'Another Important Match'
Then Carlos Augusto explained what Inter coach Simone Inzaghi asked the team for at halftime yesterday.

'He told us to stay united and calm,' the 26-year-old said. 'Because we were playing a great match.'
'He told us that these are great matches to play in. And to just keep going the way we had been.'
And as far as Inter's Serie A clash with Hellas Verona this weekend, Augusto said that 'On Saturday we have another important match.'
'We've come off the back of three losses. But we have to understand the moments we're in, and today we showed that we have a lot of quality.'
'We hope that we can put in great performances on Saturday and Tuesday as well.'

Arsenal confirm early Jorginho exit as Flamengo seal signing before Club World Cup

Farewell: Jorginho has left Arsenal in order to join Flamengo for the Club World Cup (Arsenal FC via Getty Images) Arsenal have confirmed the early summer exit of Jorginho. The former Chelsea midfielder was originally due to depart the Emirates Stadium when his current contract expires at the end of this month. However, Arsenal have now moved to mutually agree a slightly premature departure for Jorginho, allowing him to become a free agent and join Brazilian giants Flamengo in time for the inaugural expanded summer Club World Cup, which begins in the United States later this month. Advertisement The 33-year-old - who plays for Italy at international level but was born and raised in Brazil - has now promptly been unveiled as a Flamengo player, signing a three-year contract to play at the world-famous Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Jorginho will come up against former club Chelsea at the Club World Cup, with Flamengo - currently managed by ex-Blues full-back Filipe Luis - scheduled to play Enzo Maresca's Conference League winners in Philadelphia on June 20. First up is a meeting with Tunisian side Esperance de Tunis at Lincoln Financial Field on June 16, with Flamengo closing out Group D against play-off winners Los Angeles FC in Orlando on June 24. 'We can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement with Jorginho to end his contract with immediate effect to become a free agent,' Arsenal said in an official statement on Friday, before the player signed for Flamengo. 'He became a hugely respected member of the squad. His natural leadership skills, together with his control in midfield, intelligent positioning and extensive, high-quality passing, ensured that he was a valuable and integral part of the club. Advertisement 'Everyone at Arsenal Football Club would like to thank Jorgi for his contribution to the club and we wish him and his family all the best for the future.' Jorginho had already bid farewell to Arsenal last month with an emotional Instagram post which read: 'You know, sometimes the season is more than just football. It's about moments. People. Growth. 'It's about feeling part of something bigger than yourself. When I arrived at Arsenal, I wasn't just joining a club, I was stepping into a family. A team full of hunger. Passion. Purpose. 'I gave everything I had. Every day. Every match. Not just for the results, but for this shirt. For the fans. Advertisement 'Your support... it meant everything. Whether I was starting or on the bench, you made me feel valued. Loved. That's rare in football and I'll never forget it. Now, it's time to say goodbye. Or maybe a see you soon. 'When a place feels like home, a farewell is never easy. But I leave with my head held high and my heart full. To my team-mates, thank you for trusting me, for pushing me. 'To the coach, the staff, and the whole people behind the scenes, thank you for the support on the pitch, off the pitch, and for always being there for me with kindness and love. 'And to the fans, thank you for singing my name, for believing in me. Thank you, Arsenal. With love and respect, Jorginho. COYG.' Advertisement Jorginho is among 20 players leaving Arsenal this summer across the men's, women's and youth sides after the announcement of their retained list earlier this week, along with the likes of Kieran Tierney, who is rejoining Celtic, and loanees Raheem Sterling and Neto, who return to Chelsea and Bournemouth respectively. Portuguese full-back Nuno Tavares has completed a permanent move to Lazio, while winger Marquinhos will join loan club Cruzeiro on a full-time basis. However, the Gunners have offered a new contract to fellow midfielder Thomas Partey, who has been linked with a potential move to Barcelona.

Incoming Barcelona signing ‘will become the best in the world'

Incoming Barcelona signing 'will become the best in the world' Soon-to-be Barcelona star Joan García has this week been tipped to become the very best goalkeeper in world football. This comes a fresh round of praise on the part of one of his former coaches. It is of course common knowledge across Spain at this point that Barcelona have set their sights firmly on Joan's signature. Advertisement Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements between the posts for next season, the Blaugrana have earmarked the Espanyol standout as the ideal profile for present and future alike. So much so that some sources have gone as far as to point towards a transfer announcement as being all but imminent. And one individual in no doubt that Barcelona are set to secure for themselves nothing short of a world-class performer is Jesús Salvador. Salvador spent four years overseeing Joan's development at Espanyol, as a goalkeeper coach. And drawn on the 24-year-old's talents during an appearance on 'La Bruixola del Radioestadio Catalunya' on Onda Cero (as cited by Diario Sport) this week, Salvador gushed: Advertisement 'He goes unnoticed off the field, but he transforms inside. He has a lot of personality, prominence in the air. He is used to conceding many scoring chances and now, if he ends up at Barcelona, he will go through the opposite. He will not have as much work but when he does, he will have to be highly efficient. It involves brutal concentration. That aspect doesn't scare me about Joan. He is ready to increase his performance. 'He will end up being the best in the world,' it was concluded. Conor Laird – GSFN

Tottenham fires Ange Postecoglou weeks after Europa League title

Tottenham finally got their trophy, but now they don't have a coach. The club has sacked manager Ange Postecoglou on Friday, just over two weeks after winning the Europa League title. He was two years into his four-year contract with the club. 3 Ange Postecoglou during a Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion. Getty Images 'Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties,' the team said in a statement. 'Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club's greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph.' In the Europa League final, a 42nd-minute goal by Brennan Johnson was enough to stave off Manchester United. In a larger context, the win guaranteed the club a spot in next year's UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup. But that was one of the only bright spots of the season. Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League, their worst-ever finish in the club's history, and were just one spot away from the relegation zone. 3 Ange Postecoglou holds up the Europa League Trophy after beating Manchester United 1-0. AFP via Getty Images 'This has been one of the toughest decisions we have had to make and is not a decision that we have taken lightly, nor one we have rushed to conclude,' the team added. 'We have made what we believe is the right decision to give us the best chance of success going forward, not the easy decision.' Postecoglou, who won two league titles with Celtic FC of Scotland before coming to the EPL, finished his time at Tottenham with a 47-15-39 record. One of Tottenham's best players, Pedro Porro, thanked Postecoglou on Instagram for all that he had done for him during his time at the club. 'Thank you for everything, boss,' he wrote. 'For mentoring me early on, helping me settle into the club, and trusting me out on the pitch. I'll always be grateful for the way you led us, defended us, and kept us going through all the highs and lows. Above everything, you gave us one of the greatest moments in the club's history and for that, you'll always be celebrated. Wishing you all the very best, boss.' 3 Pedro Porro, one of Tottenham's best players. REUTERS Tottenham will have to find a new manager soon, as the summer transfer window is just one month away.
