, responded firmly after Jones' lawyers recently spoke publicly about the case on 'Extra' with host Billy Bush.
Freedman claimed in a statement to TMZ that the team representing Baldoni decided to amend their legal response due to what they say is new information being uncovered regularly. He accused Stephanie Jones and her company,
Jonesworks
, of misrepresenting facts related to a separate lawsuit that he labeled a 'sham.' This lawsuit, according to Freedman, was used inappropriately to gather private information and involved what he described as deceptive legal tactics.
He alleged that the so-called 'Van-sham' lawsuit, connected to Lively and her husband
Ryan Reynolds
, was designed in a way that avoided naming real individuals as defendants. This, he claimed, helped prevent any objections or legal challenges to the case. He found it hard to believe that Lively's side could pretend not to know the identities of their own employees and business partners, suggesting that the situation pointed to something much more calculated.
Freedman insisted that Jones and her firm played a role in this situation, and he dismissed any claims of a smear campaign by Baldoni's side. He instead suggested that if there was any such campaign, it was being carried out by Lively, Jones, and even the New York Times. He concluded by stating that they were determined to continue seeking justice and would not back down until the truth came out.
On the other hand, Stephanie Jones' legal team fired back strongly. Her attorney, Maaren Shah, told TMZ that their lawsuit was based on solid evidence, which allegedly shows that

The makers of Kamal Haasan's film Thug Life have alleged that the Karnataka government failed to protect the film from threats after it faced opposition following lead actor Kamal Haasan's controversial statement on the Kannada language. In their plea seeking protection from threats against the screening of the film in the state, the makers said no FIR was registered against threats to the film. The Supreme Court on Friday sought the Karnataka government's response to the plea. As per the petitioners' plea, there is an effective ban on the CBFC-certified film Thug Life in Karnataka, which is caused by violent threats from private groups, and the state authorities have failed to take action in this regard. Advocate A Velan said, 'A fringe group issued threats of large-scale violence, including the burning of theatres and attacks against members of the Tamil linguistic minority residing in Karnataka. Despite these open and public threats, not a single FIR was registered, nor was any prosecution initiated by the State Government. On the contrary, the government appeared to adopt the position of the very fringe elements that issued those threats. We are aggrieved by this inaction and are now before the Supreme Court, seeking enforcement of this Court's past directions.' The plea argued that such inaction violates the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution. This right applies not only to filmmakers but also to the public who want to view films. A bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Manmohan issued notices to the Karnataka government, the State police, Raaj Kamal Films International Private Limited and the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) seeking their responses to the plea. Advocate Navpreet Kaur added, 'We approached the Supreme Court after fringe groups issued open threats on social media to burn down theatres screening Thug Life, targeting both cinema halls and the Tamil linguistic minority in Karnataka. Despite clear Supreme Court guidelines requiring immediate action against such hate speech, the State took no action -- no FIRs were filed, and no protection was offered.... Instead, under pressure, the Karnataka Film Chamber advised theatres not to release the movie, resulting in a de facto ban. This is a serious law and order failure and a threat to constitutional rights... Recognising the urgency, the Supreme Court has issued notice to the State, and the matter is listed for hearing next Tuesday.' The issue arose over an alleged statement recently made by actor Kamal Hassan, which said, 'Kannada was born out of Tamil'. The top court will hear the matter next week. Thug Life marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after 37 years. The action thriller also stars Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan. Thug Life opened to bad reviews and lukewarm audience reactions in theatres on June 5. The film has earned only ₹92 crore worldwide in eight days. First Gaddar film awards ceremony in city today
The Revanth Reddy government, which declared in January 2024 that the Nandi awards relating to film fraternity would be renamed as Gaddar awards and given away every year on the birth anniversary of the balladeer, is set to present the first Telangana Gaddar Film Awards at a grand, culturally adorned ceremony at Hitex on Saturday, though not in time. A special cultural and entertainment programme is being organised to enthrall the audience at what promises to be a glittering awards function. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and noted film personalities will present the awards to winners in various categories. Telangana State Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) has already announced the Gaddar film awards for various categories from 2014 to 2023. Prabhas-starrer 'Kalki' was named the Best Film, while 'Pottel' and 'Lucky Bhaskar' were awarded the best Second Film and best Third Film, respectively. Allu Arjun bagged the Best Actor award for his powerful performance in 'Pushpa 2', and Nivetha Thomas was named the Best Leading Actress for 'Chinna Katha Kadu', while Nag Ashwin was named Best Director for 'Kalki'. Officials said that the Chief Minister was likely to announce sops for the Telugu film industry and share the state government's vision to promote Hyderabad as India's film capital by establishing state-of-the-art facilities, including a Film City, animation hub and a special policy for entertainment industry.
