Problem Solved
Celebrity Cruises' new ship will take guests from port to port, but also bring destinations to them.
Celebrity Xcel will feature The Bazaar, a three-story space where rotating programming will mirror the on-shore experience, when it launches in November. Michael Scheiner, the line's chief marketing and product officer, said Celebrity wanted to 'erase the line' between the ship and land-based exploration.
'You know, when you when you visit a destination, it's impossible to get to see everything,' he told USA TODAY. 'And so, this is just a very unique way for our guests to be able to experience a lot more of what our destinations have to offer.'
The Bazaar will hold festivals inspired by stops in the Caribbean, for example, with local food and drinks, performances by area musicians and more. The Market at The Bazaar will also host local artisans on sea days to present their crafts and share their knowledge with passengers.
'Depending on the festival theme, guests can expand their palate with activities including rum and chocolate pairings and local hot sauce tastings, dive deep into the destination's culture with experiences like live basket weaving demos, and find one-of-a-kind keepsakes from local vendors such as an authentic Caribbean mask shop, traditional Mexican leather hats, embroidery stations, and more,' the cruise line said in a news release.
Passengers will find regional dishes at Mosaic, an open-kitchen dining concept. The Chef's Table experience at Mosaic will also feature a tasting menu drawing on the native cuisine Celebrity's global global culinary leadership team, while guests can try their hand at 'regional delicacies' at the Chef's Studio at Mosaic cooking school.
Celebrity will launch river cruises: Here's where they will sail starting in 2027
There will also be a fast-casual eatery, Spice, with floor-to-ceiling windows. Scheiner said the Bazaar will immerse guests in the experience through a combination of technology and props while aiming for authenticity.
He noted that sourcing local talent from the ports the ship visits will be a 'big focus' for the line's entertainment team. 'You know, anyone could listen to music from a location sung by anybody,' he said. 'We really want to make sure that we are bringing that local feel.'
Some activities will come at an extra cost, including Mosaic and its Chef's Table, though Spice is included with the cruise fare. Additional specifics on pricing are still being finalized.
Participants in Celebrity's recently announced Xcel 'Dream Makers' initiative – who will test and vote on new features – will also get to weigh in. They will give input on a range of elements, from what makes the menu at Mosaic to the entertainment.
'Regardless of what you're interested in doing, if you just want to have a good time or if you really are someone who's very interested in learning more about a destination – or anything in between – this really is what that will create for you,' said Scheiner.

Taylor Swift files for restraining order against alleged stalker who claimed to be in relationship with her
Taylor Swift has filed for a restraining order against a 45-year-old man who she says has been showing up at her home in Los Angeles in the last year claiming that he is in a relationship with her and that she is the mother of his child. The filing names the alleged stalker as Brian Jason Wagner of Henderson, Colorado. In Swift's legal declaration, per NBC, the 35-year-old singer-songwriter states that Wagner has been turning up at her home regularly since July 2024. On each occasion, he was stopped and confronted by Swift's security team. "I am informed that Mr. Wagner made various statements about living at my property (not true), being in a relationship with me (not true), believing I am the mother of his son (not true), and needing to see me in person, all of which are untrue and disconnected from reality," wrote Swift. She goes on to allege that Wagner returned to the property twice in the last month. Swift's team ran a criminal history check and learned that while he was incarcerated in 2023, Wagner began sending Swift 'lengthy communications' detailing his infatuation with her and making various claims about being in a relationship with her. Swift added: "Mr Wagner has also sent my staff hundreds of emails with similarly concerning and threatening language, tried to divert mail from my residence to his attention, and even lied to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to somehow change the address on his driver's license to my Los Angeles home.' Swift's team learned of the latter ruse only when Wagner's driving license bearing Swift's address was shipped to her home. Swift makes clear in the filing that she has never met or spoken to Wagner or provided him with her address. She also says the volume of email communications from him has increased in recent weeks. "Therefore, the fact that Mr Wagner has determined where I reside and visited the property several times, refusing to leave and claiming to need access, makes me fear for my safety and the safety of my family," Swift wrote. "The fact that both of these recent visits and Mr Wagner's inappropriate and threatening communications to my staff about me have escalated in recent weeks creates a fear of imminent harm." The Independent has approached Swift's representatives for comment. A formal hearing regarding the restraining order will take place on June 30, but Swift has already been granted a temporary restraining order for herself, her home, her car and her workplace against Wagner until then. Last year, a separate stalker pursuing Swift was arrested three times in five days outside her home in New York.

How I Travel: Keke Palmer Wants to Get Woo Woo in Bali
If you see actor Keke Palmer riding a camel in Morocco or skiing in the Alps, that might be a fine time to politely say hi and request a selfie. The absolute worst place to approach her? Where it happens the most often: in the bathroom. 'People don't even care if you wash your hands! They're already asking for a picture,' says Palmer, who also hosts the weekly podcast, Baby, This is Keke Palmer. 'Why are you doing this? It's always so weird when it happens because they'll see me go in and feel like this is the perfect time to get her. Actually it's not!' Ahead, Palmer—who's currently partnering with American Express as an ambassador for its Business Platinum Card—chatted about makeup on airplanes, staying active on vacation in Antigua, and the rather interesting wellness procedures she'd love to try in Bali. Her first flight in first class: It was for a TNT movie I was going to do: The Wool Cap, with William H. Macy. The flight was from California to Montreal, so it was pretty long. I remember flying first class and thinking, Wow, they gave me a little meal! It was a cookie. I felt so relaxed and excited. I love that you asked that, because it brought me back to that time! What she wears to fly: Well, it's changed, right? Because I've continued to go through different areas of fashion. Sometimes I'll go to the airport and give you a very fitness/wellness-type look, where I've got some type of yoga pants on and a little bomber jacket. Maybe I've got my hair pinned up in a little bun or a clip, or I've got my headband wig on—that still gives cute and casual, but comfortable. I usually try to [make sure] I don't feel like a total mess when I get off the plane. I do [wear makeup]. I went to Seattle not too long ago for a business meeting, and I had five seconds in the lounge before the plane. The flight was really quick, at 6 or 7 a.m. and I had to look good. Girl, it was crazy. Her priorities in the airport lounge: What makes a good lounge is the breakfast food. Something that can nourish me before I go to a meeting or before I go to sleep. Also, where the drinks at? Sometimes, if it's the evening, I need to wind down. Can I get a good wine? Is there a nice bar there? I also just like good chairs. Sometimes they might have an outside situation, a patio, if you want some fresh air. But more than anything, it's just knowing that you have that place to go, especially when it depends on the different airlines you're at. The American Express Business Platinum Card [gives you] access to the global lounge, so you have this universal freedom across the board. I can get noticed if I'm not in the lounge, so it is also a bit of a safe haven in that regard.
