Umesh Shukla denies Rs 8 crore bribery rumours involving Aamir Khan and Vidhu Vinod Chopra: 'PK' row

Umesh Shukla denied rumors that Aamir Khan and Vidhu Vinod Chopra bribed him with Rs 8 crore to shelve 'OMG: Oh My God!'. He explained similarities with 'PK' were coincidental, as both films explore religion. Both movies remain popular for their thought-provoking themes and storytelling. Aamir Khan 's 2014 blockbuster 'PK' faced comparisons to Akshay Kumar's 2012 film 'OMG: Oh My God!' since both tackled themes related to religion. Recently, Umesh Shukla , the director of 'OMG', dismissed rumors suggesting that Aamir and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra bribed him to halt his film's release. Clarification on Bribery Allegations In a recent interview with Friday Talkies, Umesh dismissed the bribery rumors, clarifying that the claims about Vidhu offering him Rs 8 crore to not make the film were merely gossip and never happened. He emphasized that Rajkumar Hirani , Abhijat Joshi, Chopra, and Aamir Khan are all highly talented and dignified individuals who would never engage in such petty behavior. Similar Ideas and Independent Creations Shukla revealed that his play had been running in theatres for a long time, and that 'PK' writers Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi had already seen it. He suggested they might have independently developed similar ideas. He added that if 'PK' had been released before his film, people might have accused his work of resembling 'PK'. According to him, when creators explore similar themes, some overlap is natural—just as in a love story, where expressions like 'I love you' are expected. Continued Popularity of Both Films Both 'PK' and 'OMG: Oh My God!' achieved tremendous success at the box office and have remained beloved by audiences over the years. Their thought-provoking themes and engaging storytelling continue to resonate, making them popular choices for fans who enjoy revisiting these films time and again.

Palak Tiwari recalls the only time when her mother, Shweta Tiwari slapped her

Palak Tiwari , an emerging talent in the Hindi film industry, recently reflected on how her upbringing in a household full of determined women has profoundly shaped her perspective and career path. In an interview with Mashable India , the young actress candidly discussed the pivotal role her mother, television star Shweta Tiwari , has played in her life. Being raised by a woman who has excelled despite numerous challenges has not only inspired Palak but also helped ease some of the pressures typically faced by newcomers in the entertainment world. Belonging to a lineage of fiercely independent and capable women, Palak acknowledged that the legacy of resilience passed down through generations has made her journey feel less burdensome. She recalled that her maternal grandmother, a smart and dedicated woman who worked as a clerk in a law office, was instrumental in supporting her mother's dreams. At a time when the idea of pursuing a career in acting faced disapproval within the family, her grandmother stood firm behind Shweta's ambitions. This unwavering support system, Palak explained, gave her the confidence to believe that her own dreams would always be backed by love and encouragement at home. The influence of Shweta's strength and determination was not just limited to her career. Palak shared a light-hearted anecdote from her childhood that showcased her mother's disciplinary but caring nature. As a child, she often refused to eat her meals and would create unnecessary fuss. During one such incident, their family dog, Tobby, ended up licking a cup of Bournvita that Palak was supposed to drink. This led to the only time Shweta ever hit her, more out of frustration than anger. But Palak recalled it with amusement, noting that even their dog was startled by the outburst. That moment, marked by laughter and fear, remains etched in her memory as a symbol of her mother's gentle strictness and deep love. Shweta Tiwari, celebrated for her portrayal of Prerna in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, has built an enduring television career marked by critical acclaim and personal strength. Her journey through professional triumphs and personal hurdles has long served as a beacon for her daughter. Meanwhile, Palak has taken her first steps in cinema, making her debut opposite Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan . Her most recent screen appearance was in the horror comedy The Bhootnii, which also starred Sanjay Dutt and Mouni Roy. She is now gearing up for her role in the upcoming action drama Romeo S3, further solidifying her place in the industry.

Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par Gets 12A Certificate From UK Censors, Runtime Revealed

Aamir Khan is all set to make his big-screen comeback with Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, also starring Genelia Deshmukh, brings a heartwarming story about second chances, determination, and the power of inclusion. Directed by RS Prasanna, this slice-of-life drama follows 10 specially-abled children who are shaped into a football team by a tough yet inspiring coach, played by Aamir. The film is all set to release in theatres in June 20, 2025. Now, new details are trickling in. The British Censor Board has officially cleared the film with a 12A certificate, which means it's suitable for viewers over 12, while younger children can watch it too as long as they're accompanied by an adult. According to a report by Filmy View, the movie has a runtime of 2 hours and 35 minutes. Sitaare Zameen Par marks Aamir's return to theatres after a three-year gap following Laal Singh Chaddha. ccording to recent reports, the actor plans to launch the film across approximately 3,000 screens nationwide. As per a report by Pinkvilla, Aamir Khan and his team had originally planned a modest rollout for Sitaare Zameen Par, eyeing a release on around 1,000 to 1,500 screens across India. The idea was to gauge audience response over the opening weekend and then expand the reach accordingly. However, that plan has now changed. The film will see a full-fledged nationwide release right from day one. According to sources quoted by the portal, many single-screen theatre owners and non-national multiplex chains reached out directly to Aamir. This overwhelming demand prompted the team to go big with the release. A source known to the entertainment portal said, 'Though the genre has its limitations in the post-pandemic, the exhibitors are confident that the Aamir Khan factor, coupled with strong content, will draw audiences in larger numbers over the weekend. The exhibitor support for Sitaare Zameen Par is also coming from the 'No OTT' stance taken by Aamir Khan. The film will now release on 3000 to 3500 screens all across the country." Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Aamir Khan made his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par, will not be heading to any streaming platform anytime soon. The actor-producer shared his thoughts on how the fast shift to OTT after the pandemic has affected theatre business. He explained that releasing films too soon online takes away from the cinema experience, and he strongly believes that good films deserve to be seen on the big screen. 'I don't know any business where you offer your product, and if someone doesn't buy it, you tell them—don't worry, I'll drop it at your house for free in eight weeks," Aamir said, adding, 'It doesn't make sense to me. That's the reason many films aren't doing well in theatres." He described the current situation as a 'famine and feast" model where either a few films do extremely well or most don't work at all. He believes the early OTT release trend has weakened the theatrical culture and, therefore, made a conscious choice to keep his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par exclusive to theatres. 'I believe in theatres. I believe in my audience. If you make a good film, people will come to watch it on the big screen." When asked about Laal Singh Chaddha, which got a warm reception on OTT after a lukewarm run in theatres, Aamir said, 'If someone doesn't enjoy a film in theatres, they won't suddenly like it at home. Your opinion of the film doesn't change just because of where you watch it." Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy drama film directed by R. S. Prasanna, and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. A spiritual successor to Khan's 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, it stars Khan and Genelia Deshmukh. It is a remake of the Spanish film Champions. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar will make their Hindi cinema debut in Sitaare Zameen Par.
