New London shooting leaves 2 with gunshot wounds

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — Two people suffered gunshot wounds in a shooting Thursday night near Bank Street, according to New London police.
Around 11:12 p.m., police responded to the area of Bank Street and Golden Street for report of shots fired and someone possibly injured.
Groton police investigating scene at Super 8 Motel on Route 12
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of the non-life threatening injury.
Later, a second adult male arrived at the hospital, also for treatment of a gunshot wound in his lower extremity. The injury was non-life threatening.
Police said the shooting does not seem to be a random act.
Groton police share photos of individuals allegedly tied to bank robbery
Members of the Investigative Services Division responded to collect evidence and process the scene.

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Connecticut State Police sergeant was placed on unpaid suspension prior to his retirement after an internal investigation into a confrontation with a digital content creator, according to state police. Sgt. Bryan Fahey was investigated following a July 11 confrontation with a digital content creator outside Fahey's home while he was off-duty. The investigation was completed on July 24, according to Col. Daniel Loughman. Colchester woman, ex-husband sentenced over $29 million investment fraud scheme Fahey notified state police in May of his upcoming retirement, which went into effect on Aug. 1, Loughman said. In addition to the unpaid suspension, Fahey also sustained a charge of conduct unbecoming. The July 11 incident is still being investigated by the Town of Groton Police Department and the Windham State's Attorney's Office. Loughman noted state police will cooperate fully with that investigation. Additional details about the confrontation were not released by state police. Check back to News 8 for more updates. PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A man was arrested after alleged physical and emotional abuse, impersonation of an officer and interfering with an investigation Plainfield. Jeffrey Howard, 51, of Wauregan was arrested on Sunday. Plainfield man charged with 18 counts of rape On Saturday, the Plainfield Police Department received a call for a well-being check based off allegations of abuse. At the time of the check, the victim was found safe. At 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, police received a call reporting physical abuse that occurred after the well-being check. Investigation revealed that Howard allegedly physically abused the victim prior to her contacting police, along with emotional abuse and control tactics. Police search for 2 drivers accused of fleeing from Plainfield crash Officers set up surveillance on Howard's residence when they observed him exit his garage on foot. As an officer approached, Howard attempted to flee in his vehicle. Police said Howard was in possession of a law enforcement badge and allegedly tried to tamper with evidence related to the investigation. Howard is not a law enforcement officer, according to police. He was charged with the following: Disorderly conduct Second-degree criminal mischief Impersonation of an officer First-degree reckless endangerment First-degree unlawful restraint Tampering with evidence Second-degree assault Interfering Second-degree strangulation He was held on $150,000 bond and will appear in Danielson Superior Court on Monday.
