AMC to auction 7 prime city plots worth Rs 447 crore
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is preparing to put seven prime plots in Bodakdev, Ambli, Chandkheda, Gota, and Sola under the hammer, with a combined base price of Rs 447 crore. The proposal will be tabled before the AMC standing committee on Thursday for approval. Three of the plots are earmarked for residential use, while four are for commercial purposes. The jewel in the list is a residential plot in Bodakdev, under TP 50 priced at a steep Rs 3.10 lakh per sq m— the highest among the seven. Measuring 1,821 sq m on-site (though earlier listed as 2,239 sq m in Form F), the plot's sale will be based on the actual surveyed size. Two of the properties now going to auction were previously allocated to govt bodies — but both allocations fell through over price disagreements. The department found the price too high and failed to deposit the amount for a year, forcing AMC to cancel the deal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The #1 Mistake People with Ringing Ears Make Every Night in Bed Derila Ergo Undo Similarly, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) had chosen a plot on Sola-Science City Road for a training centre. Valued at Rs 1.75 lakh per sq m and priced at Rs 69.54 crore, the deal also collapsed after KVIC missed the payment deadline. Both plots are now back in AMC's auction list. This is the corporation's third major auction push in 12 months. In Aug 2024, AMC announced the auction of 13 plots worth a total of Rs 1,156.09 crore, following a March 2024 sale of 22 plots. That auction saw six plots fetch Rs 174 crore and one in Chandkheda sold to Lulu International Shopping Malls Pvt. Ltd. for Rs 519 crore. Several auctions, however, were scrapped due to single-bidder situations, including high-value plots in Shilaj, Bodakdev, and Motera. AMC officials said they expect strong interest this time given the prime locations and commercial potential of the properties. Gujarat's employment engine stalls: MSME shutdowns, zero PMEGP uptake in key districts
AHMEDABAD: The Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) has virtually failed in Gujarat, with not a single application from key districts like Surat and Navsari in 2024–25. A sharp 60 per cent decline in applications over five years, coupled with the closure of 7,269 small and medium enterprises, has left over 33,000 people jobless, exposing the Gujarat government's failure in translating employment promises into reality. In a damning indicator of policy failure, Gujarat has witnessed a breakdown in the implementation of the PMEGP, particularly in major districts like Surat and Navsari, which recorded zero applications for the scheme in 2024–25. This shocking data has emerged from a central government reply in the Rajya Sabha to Gujarat MP Narhari Amin, laying bare the state's crumbling employment generation apparatus. The collapse is not isolated. PMEGP applications have plummeted from 19,654 in 2020–21 to just 7,793 in 2024–25, a drop of over 60 per cent, clearly revealing that Gujarat's youth are losing faith in the scheme. Even in tribal districts where the scheme was meant to be a lifeline, the numbers are alarming: only seven applications in Dang and Mahisagar, 16 in Chhota Udepur, and just two in Narmada.
