Severe storms move across GA overnight
Today is a day to be weather-aware and conditions will be windy and warm.
Many areas of north Georgia will have high temperatures near 80 degrees.
There is a Wind Advisory beginning at 11 a.m. today and going through 5 a.m. Sunday.
Wind gusts of 30-40 mph are possible today, with higher gusts possible at higher elevations.
Parts of northwest Georgia will experience some heavy downpours in the early evening.
Then overnight into Sunday, severe storms are expected to move across Georgia.
Between midnight and sunrise on Sunday, multiple EF2+ tornadoes are possible.
During thunderstorms, damaging wind gusts could reach 70 mph or greater, and large hail with a diameter of 1-2 inches is possible.
Then by daybreak, the storms move out.
Safety information if a tornado warning is issued:
Take cover: Go to the lowest level of your house and into an interior room, away from windows.
Mobile homes and automobiles are not safe, find a shelter.
Do not try to outrun a tornado if you are on the road.
Severe Weather Team 2 will be tracking these storms and any tornadoes live on Channel 2.

Strawberry Festival prepares for thousands of visitors with rain in the forecast
It will be a busy weekend for the Troy Strawberry Festival with organizers expecting at least 150,000 visitors. They say they are prepared, and have a plan in case of inclement weather. Ovenshire grew up in Troy and remembers the past Strawberry Festivals. 'As a little kid, we were on the levee, you know, and there was hardly anything up here, and it just kept getting bigger and bigger,' Ovenshire said. The city started prepping for the festival Thursday morning by putting up barriers. 'You don't want to have that always on the back of your mind,' Ovenshire said. 'Like, man, what if this isn't as safe as it used to be?' Jessica Silver is the head chair of the Strawberry Festival. Silver says they have shaded areas for festival goers. 'Festival location that our volunteers can come in and like, take rests and have some water,' Silver said. 'We also have EMS present on both locations and we have Kettering Health here.' Ovenshire recommends checking the weather before heading out to the festival. 'You know the forecast, it's not that bad,' Ovenshire said. 'And people still come out no matter what.' Threat of strong, severe storms Friday night through Saturday morning
We have to stay weather aware this weekend – another system is going to bring multiple rounds of strong and potentially severe storms across north Georgia. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] There is a higher level of risk for the north and northwest part of the state, but still some risk for metro Atlanta and areas south and east. Late Friday night through early on Saturday morning, scattered severe storms could produce damaging wind gusts and large hail, as well as a low risk of a brief tornado. Lake fills with hybrid fish in time for summer fishing at Ohio's oldest State Park
Over 200,000 saugeye fish were released into the lake at Ohio's oldest State Park just in time for summer fishing and camping. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) released 217,000 saugeye into Grand Lake St. Marys on May 21, according to a media release by ODNR. The popular sport fish grow quickly and are accustomed to Ohio's reservoirs since they are tolerant of warm and shallow water. The saugeye released were fingerlings that measured one or two inches in length. ODNR said these fish will grow to the catchable size of 13 to 15 inches by the fall of 2026.
