Racine crash, driver charged with reckless homicide in teen's death

RACINE, Wis. - A Racine man is accused of reckless homicide, among other crimes, for a March crash that killed a 17-year-old girl and injured four other people.
The backstory
The crash happened on March 9. According to a criminal complaint, a Racine County deputy was driving near 16th and Deane when he spotted a Chevrolet Camaro driving more than 90 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Court filings said the deputy activated his lights and sirens and tried to catch up with the Camaro. After having lost sight of it, he came upon a crash at 16th and Taylor involving the Camaro and a Chevrolet Impala.
Surveillance video captured the crash. According to the complaint, the Camaro crashed into the back of the Impala, causing a "shower of sparks and flames." Debris was thrown from both cars as the Impala was "launched through the intersection." The Camaro caught fire at the scene.
The driver of the Impala, identified as 17-year-old Tyreana Scales, was flown to a hospital via Flight for Life with critical injuries. She died on March 11. Four passengers in the Impala, all juveniles, suffered various injuries.

Court records show 34-year-old Salvador Coronado is charged with first-degree reckless homicide and five counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
The complaint states Coronado was the driver and lone occupant of the Camaro. Deputies found a liquor bottle in the car after the crash and obtained a blood sample for evidence.
Court records show Coronado has a list of previous traffic-related violations, including OWIs, fleeing and eluding, speeding, reckless driving and more.

The Brief A suspect has been taken into custody in Brevard County after deputies say he attempted to bomb a state radio tower. Deputies say the incident was isolated and not an act of terrorism. BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - A suspect has been taken into custody in Brevard County after deputies say he attempted to bomb a state radio tower. What we know Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said deputies responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle on Friday in the area of Deering Parkway Road. The vehicle was trying to pull away when deputies arrived at the scene. A number of units, including the bomb unit, were seen on Deering Parkway Road between Interstate 95 and U.S. 1. Ivey said the vehicle's driver told a story that "did not match what was going on," causing investigators to search the vehicle and discover an explosive device that the sheriff said was a possible pipe bomb. Ivey said the driver of the vehicle appeared to be angry over employment issues and planned to target one of the state radio towers. "The individual has made some statements about getting fired and things of that nature," Ivey said. Ivey said the incident was isolated and not an act of terrorism. He said the suspect is now in custody. What we don't know It is currently unclear what employment issues led up to the suspect attempting to target the radio tower with the explosive device. Officials have not yet released the identity of the suspect taken into custody. FOX 35 has reached out to investigators for more information on the incident. What's next Officials said Deering Parkway Road, between I-95 and U.S. 1, will continue to be closed for a few hours while the investigation continues. Hillsborough County deputies make arrests in shooting that injured teen
The Brief Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office have made arrests in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. Detectives said they found evidence connected to the shooting inside a bedroom belonging to a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old. A 38-year-old man was also arrested for driving with a suspended license when deputies said they found him driving the vehicle linked to the suspected shooter. PROGRESS VILLAGE, Fla. - Two teenage felons have been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. The backstory According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to the area of South 81st Street and Fir Drive shortly before 12:40 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found a teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. When they pulled the vehicle over, deputies said the driver, Antonio House, 38, was taken into custody for driving on a suspended license. According to HCSO, a Glock .40 caliber handgun recovered from inside the home was ballistically matched to the casings recovered at the scene of the shooting. The HCSO Firearms Laboratory conducted the analysis and confirmed the connection between the gun and the crime scene. Both were taken into custody. The 17-year-old has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and resisting an officer without violence. House was charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery great bodily harm or deadly weapon firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and resisting an officer without violence. Menomonee Falls FedEx gunfire, man charged with attempted homicide
The Brief Prosecutors said a man shot at a manager at the Menomonee Falls FedEx facility. The 19-year-old is now charged with attempted homicide and misdemeanor battery. Court filings said the gunfire stemmed from an argument and fight. MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - A man is accused of attempted homicide after prosecutors say he shot at a manager during a fight at the Menomonee Falls FedEx facility on Monday. In Court Prosecutors charged 19-year-old DeAnthony Leflore with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and misdemeanor battery. His bond was set at $200,000 on Friday. A criminal complaint states callers reported Leflore had fired a gun, but no one was shot. When police got there, court filings said a security worker informed them that Leflore was no longer in the facility's gated area. It was unclear where Leflore went, and officers searched for but did not find him. What they're saying Prosecutors said a manager told investigators that Leflore arrived at the facility around 2:30 a.m. – an hour before his shift – and was unable to scan his badge and get inside. He was told to go home because he wasn't allowed to start early. Leflore later made a comment that the manager took "to mean (Leflore) was going to shoot her," per the complaint, before he left. The manager then told security not to let him in "because of his escalating behavior." Leflore and the manager who had previously sent him home then got into an argument, and that manager told him to leave "because of his earlier behavior." Court filings said Leflore then asked that manager if he was fired or not before saying, "I'm finna force it," and repeatedly punching the manager in the face. The manager said she bit Leflore's hand and pulled his hair to try to get him off of her, and another manager came over to separate them. Leflore then ran toward a fence that separates the main facility from the parking lot, per the complaint. He grabbed a gun from a backpack and pointed it at the manager. The victim said she saw a laser sight affixed to the gun, and she saw the point of the laser on her chest before Leflore said: "(Expletive) I'll pop you." The victim said she then heard gunshots as she ran, but she was not hit. The complaint states police found a bullet casing and some of Leflore's hair, which was ripped out during the struggle, at the scene. A security worker said he saw the fight and saw Leflore holding a gun with a laser sight that "appeared" to be pointed at the victim. He heard one gunshot and called 911. Additional witnesses also said they saw Leflore with a gun. Surveillance video showed the fight, according to court filings, during which Leflore went to the fence line and picked up what appeared to be a gun before pointing it at the victim. One gunshot was heard as everyone ran from the area. Additional video showed Leflore walking away with a gun "clearly" tucked in the front of his waistband.
