An Air India flight carrying 242 passengers and crew members crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, operating as flight AI171 to London, went down around 2 PM in the Meghaninagar area, not far from the airport.
Videos circulating on social media captured the dramatic aftermath, including one showing thick black smoke emerging from the crash site and another featuring survivors being rushed to hospitals. One of the most widely shared clips showed the doctors' hostel in Meghaninagar with visible damage and aircraft parts on the premises.

Fervent celebrations across India on Shri Krishna Janmashtami
New Delhi [India], August 16 (ANI): Devotees across India thronged temples with devotion and fervour to celebrate Shri Krishna Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna. Thousands of devotees gathered to offer prayers and seek blessings. The chanting of mantras, bhajans, and ringing of bells as sacred rituals started in early morning hours across several temples in the country. In Mathura, the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna, witnessed a vibrant Mangala Aarti early this morning. In Noida, devotees participated in grand celebrations in the ISKCON Temple in Sector 32. The temple echoed with kirtans and devotional offerings. In Chhatarpur of Madhya Pradesh, the Prem Pratik Temple hosted a Mangala in Jaipur, Rajasthan, the historic Govind Dev Ji Temple saw an overwhelming turnout of devotees. The celebrations across these cities reflect the deep spiritual connection and widespread devotion to Lord Krishna's birthday falls on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapad. Although the celebration takes place in different parts of the country, Mathura and Vrindavan hold a special significance. One being his birthplace, and one where he spent his childhood and did his baal flock to the Lord Krishna temples. The temples were decorated with flowers and crystal chandeliers, and the idols of Lord Krishna were decorated with colourful clothes and midnight, a special ritual is performed when the idol of Lord Krishna is bathed in milk, yoghurt, honey, ghee, and water. During the Krishna Abhishek, bells are rung, conch shells are blown, and Vedic hymns are the bhog, Prasad is given to the worshippers, who stand out for hours for Krishna darshan and Handi is also celebrated in numerous areas. One of the customary festivals of Krishna Janmashtami is Dahi Handi, also known as Gopalakala or is the name for curd, while a handi is an earthen pot used to store milk products. One of the biggest celebrations in Maharashtra is Dahi Krishna is often referred to as 'Makhan Chor' because he used to steal butter. He organised a bunch of friends to get milk from earthen jars dangling from the ceiling. (ANI)

Tripura CM joins Janmashtami celebrations at Banamalipur Krishna temple
Agartala (Tripura) [India], August 16 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday joined the Janmashtami celebrations at the Krishna Temple in Agartala's Banamalipur, organised by the Tripura Yadav Samaj to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. Devotees thronged the temple premises, offering prayers, singing devotional songs, and taking part in cultural programs. Special arrangements in Gujarats Dwarka for Janmashtami
Dwarka (Gujarat) [India], August 16 (ANI): Special security and logistical arrangements have been put in place in Gujarat's Dwarka for Janmashtami, with dedicated facilities for senior citizens, differently abled devotees, and mothers, along with provisions for clean drinking water and enhanced sanitation. Dwarka SDM Lt Col (Retd) Amol Awate said on Friday that special provisions have been made for senior citizens and differently abled people. 'Keeping Janmashtmi in mind, the district administration has taken many steps. From Kirti Stambh, a single-point entry has been made for all the devotees. Special provisions have been made so that e-rickshaws can drop senior citizens and differently abled persons directly to the door of the temple, from where, the staff will assist them in wheelchairs for darshan. For mothers, five baby feeding centres have been established inside the temple," Awate told ANI. He added that dedicated teams have been assigned for cleaning bathrooms and temples. 'From Hathi Gate to Sudama Setu, we have assigned a dedicated team to ensure that all toilets and bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained. The water management has been done through almost 5 water tanks and the cold and clean water from these water tanks will be distributed to the devotees all over the road and since last 2 days…almost 10 JCBs and 15 tractors and trolleys are used in cleaning all the temples in our Dwarka taluka i.e. Dwarka, Bet Dwarka, Nageshwar, there is a dedicated programme for their cleaning, we have been doing this since last 2 days and will continue this for the next three days," he said. He further said, 'We expect that whoever works well in the service of Dwarkadish should do it well, and all the devotees who come from outside should have a good experience and should go from Dwarka with good memories."Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, in a remarkable display of patriotism, the Krishna Janambhoomi temple has unveiled a board to honour the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces for their success in 'Operation Sindoor" on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. This operation was a significant cross-border strike that showcased the military's prowess and strategic capabilities. The display of the board at the Krishna Janambhoomi temple highlights the intersection of patriotism and faith in Indian culture. It reflects the deep respect and admiration for the armed forces and their role in safeguarding the country. This gesture is a powerful way to acknowledge the military's contributions and reinforce national pride.
