AP inks Rs 10,328 cr in tourism MoUs, 22K jobs expected

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh govt on Friday signed more than 80 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with leading international and domestic investors in the private tourism sector, amounting to 10,328 crore. The MoUs were formalized in the presence of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the AP Tourism Tech AI 2.0 conclave here. These partnerships are expected to generate employment for 22,325 people and add 7,600 new hotel room keys across the state over the next four years. Naidu announced plans for robust tourism infrastructure, including a domestic airport in Madanapalle of Annamayya district. He extended an invitation to Patanjali Ayurved, led by Baba Ramdev, to develop a world-class wellness centre at Horsley Hills in Annamayya district, and proposed Baba Ramdev serve as a tourism advisor to the govt. Reaffirming tourism as a transformative force, Naidu remarked that while ideologies like socialism, capitalism, and communism may fade, "tourism will be the only 'ism' to endure", calling it a catalyst for sustainable growth. With a vision to evolve into a $2.4 trillion economy under the Swarnandhra @2047 blueprint, Naidu said the state aims for a 20% growth rate in tourism, scaling its contribution to the GSDP from 74,000 crore to 2.4 lakh crore by 2028-29. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cuối cùng, chơi miễn phí game chiến thuật hay nhất 2025! Sea of Conquest Phát ngay Undo "The govt is planning to scale up the room inventory from the present 20,000 to 50,000 over the next four years, besides 10,000 plus homestays across tribal, rural, coastal, and heritage regions. This targets generating two million jobs through the tourism sector alone and enhancing the per capita income and standard of living of the poor in the state," Naidu noted. "Andhra Pradesh has the best temples, 21 of which generate wealth running into crores through hundi offerings and others. From ancient cities and a 1,000 km coastline to forest reserves and riverine systems like the Godavari and Krishna, the state's natural and spiritual assets are second to none. The govt is also developing seven anchor hubs, including Vizag, Araku, Rajahmundry, Amaravati, Srisailam, Gandikota, and Tirupati, and over 25 thematic circuits, including 10 temple circuits, 5 coastal, 4 river routes, 2 cruises, 2 Buddhist, and 3 ecotourism trails," Naidu mentioned. On the occasion, the CM launched the state's tourism digital calendar, strategy paper, brochure, and event schedule. Earlier in the day, he flagged off the caravan tourism initiative, promoting sustainable tourism in lesser-known destinations. Patanjali founder Ramdev Baba, tourism minister Kandula Durgesh, APTDC chairman Dr Nukasani Balaji, GFST director Cherukuri Kutumba Rao, and senior officials were present.

Fire engulfs plastic granule unit in Bawana, second incident in a week

New Delhi: A massive fire engulfed a factory in Bawana, northwest Delhi, in the early hours of Friday. The plastic granule manufacturing factory was full of flammable materials that led to the quick spread of the blaze. No deaths have been reported. This is the second incident of a factory blaze in a week. "Immediately, 25 fire tenders were deployed and 150 firefighters worked in shifts to douse the blaze. After about five hours, the fire was doused around 9am, however the fire kept reigniting," a DFS official said. A senior fire officer said: "When the team reached the spot and entered through the front, we found that the entire building was engulfed in flames and extremely difficult to approach right from the front gate. The materials that were being used in the factory, particularly plastic that was used in manufacturing, were very flammable and all around the premises, blocking the pathways of the team, especially because the singular staircase was also blocked. Our effort to enter the building and navigate around were deeply hindered by the amount of ignited materials that were present all around." "The entire 300 square-yard building, consisting of the basement, ground and first floors, was engulfed in the fire," said a DFS official. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Fire officers also added that the plastic materials in the factory caught fire quickly as it spread throughout the floor and then the building. As an additional concern, the factory building itself was also very poorly ventilated with only small windows on the top floor which made it difficult for the team to locate the areas of fire and douse it. Loss of working machinery and goods have been reported. The police have reported no casualties. Police said an investigation is under way to ascertain the cause of the fire. Earlier this week, another massive fire in a factory had claimed four lives in Rithala in Rohini's Sector 5 area.

Survey for Mizoram-Myanmar rly route done: MP

1 2 Aizawl: Mizoram's lone Rajya Sabha MP, K Vanlalvena, has announced the completion of a preliminary survey for the proposed extension of the railway line from Sairang/Sihhmui, on the outskirts of Aizawl, to Zorinpui near the Myanmar border in southern Mizoram. Vanlalvena met Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi on Thursday to reiterate his long-standing request for a railway link to Myanmar under the Centre's 'Act East Policy' aimed at boosting trade connectivity with Southeast Asia. "Aizawl-Zorinpui rail link will serve as a parallel corridor to the ongoing Kaladan multi-modal transit transport project, which seeks to connect Mizoram with the Sittwe Port in Myanmar's Rakhine state through both highway and inland waterway routes," he said. The project envisions linking Kolkata to Mizoram via the Sittwe Port by a 539-km sea route across the Bay of Bengal. While the survey for the proposed line has been completed, the route alignment is yet to be finalised. Vanlalvena said the railway minister told him the inauguration date for the 51.38-km Bairabi-Sairang new line is yet to be finalised, pending some technical inspections. However, northeast frontier railway (NFR) officials confirmed that the line is likely to be inaugurated before July 31. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cuối cùng, chơi miễn phí game chiến thuật hay nhất 2025! Sea of Conquest Phát ngay Undo "I expressed my deep gratitude to the Railway Minister for the completion of the Bairabi-Sairang/Sihhmui project, and he congratulated me on this significant milestone towards integrating Aizawl into India's national railway grid," the MP said. The Bairabi-Sairang line recently underwent safety inspection by the commissioner of railway safety on June 10. Final approval of the report is awaited from the ministry of railways. A speed trial using a special diesel locomotive inspection train has also been completed. The 51.38-km railway project is regarded as an engineering feat. It comprises 48 tunnels, 55 major bridges, and 87 minor bridges. The combined tunnel length stands at 12,853 meters. Notably, bridge number 196 stands 104 meters tall — 42 meters higher than the Qutub Minar. The project also features five road over bridges and six road under bridges, and is divided into four segments: Bairabi-Hortoki, Hortoki-Kawnpui, Kawnpui-Mualkhang, and Mualkhang-Sairang.
