AP inks Rs 10,328 cr in tourism MoUs, 22K jobs expected
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh govt on Friday signed more than 80 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with leading international and domestic investors in the private tourism sector, amounting to 10,328 crore.
The MoUs were formalized in the presence of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the AP Tourism Tech AI 2.0 conclave here.
These partnerships are expected to generate employment for 22,325 people and add 7,600 new hotel room keys across the state over the next four years.
Naidu announced plans for robust tourism infrastructure, including a domestic airport in Madanapalle of Annamayya district. He extended an invitation to Patanjali Ayurved, led by Baba Ramdev, to develop a world-class wellness centre at Horsley Hills in Annamayya district, and proposed Baba Ramdev serve as a tourism advisor to the govt.
Reaffirming tourism as a transformative force, Naidu remarked that while ideologies like socialism, capitalism, and communism may fade, "tourism will be the only 'ism' to endure", calling it a catalyst for sustainable growth.
With a vision to evolve into a $2.4 trillion economy under the Swarnandhra @2047 blueprint, Naidu said the state aims for a 20% growth rate in tourism, scaling its contribution to the GSDP from 74,000 crore to 2.4 lakh crore by 2028-29.

"The govt is planning to scale up the room inventory from the present 20,000 to 50,000 over the next four years, besides 10,000 plus homestays across tribal, rural, coastal, and heritage regions. This targets generating two million jobs through the tourism sector alone and enhancing the per capita income and standard of living of the poor in the state," Naidu noted.
"Andhra Pradesh has the best temples, 21 of which generate wealth running into crores through hundi offerings and others.
From ancient cities and a 1,000 km coastline to forest reserves and riverine systems like the Godavari and Krishna, the state's natural and spiritual assets are second to none. The govt is also developing seven anchor hubs, including Vizag, Araku, Rajahmundry, Amaravati, Srisailam, Gandikota, and Tirupati, and over 25 thematic circuits, including 10 temple circuits, 5 coastal, 4 river routes, 2 cruises, 2 Buddhist, and 3 ecotourism trails," Naidu mentioned.
On the occasion, the CM launched the state's tourism digital calendar, strategy paper, brochure, and event schedule. Earlier in the day, he flagged off the caravan tourism initiative, promoting sustainable tourism in lesser-known destinations.
Patanjali founder Ramdev Baba, tourism minister Kandula Durgesh, APTDC chairman Dr Nukasani Balaji, GFST director Cherukuri Kutumba Rao, and senior officials were present.

June 28, 2025, Birthday Forecast: Discover what the next 12 months hold for you
Happy Birthday! Your birth date has brought you here, so let's dive deep into what your numbers hold for you over the next 12 months. Personal Year For the upcoming year, you will be under the influence of Number 6, which is ruled by Shukra Dev (Venus). Let's explore what this vibration has in store for you. Career & Finance If you're born on June 28, the year ahead marks a significant cycle of responsibility, leadership, and consolidation. As a Cancer native guided by the karmic and power-driven Number 1 (2 + 8 = 10 → 1), you are likely to feel an inner push to take charge of your career path. This could mean taking a bold leap—such as launching your own business—or transitioning from a supporting role into a leadership position. From August onward, you may begin receiving recognition or responsibilities that highlight your leadership potential, especially if you've been consistently putting in extra effort. This isn't the time to cut corners or procrastinate. Instead, it's a year to rebrand, take calculated risks, or negotiate important contracts. Financially, the year holds promising gains, especially for those driven by self-motivation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Sherman Oaks: This Tiny Hearing Aid Is Now Available To Test for Free AudioNova Undo However, discipline is key: monitor your spending, avoid impulse purchases, and don't let others influence your financial decisions. Consider setting long-term goals like repaying debts, investing in upskilling, or establishing a side business. Relationships On the emotional front, this year encourages you to strengthen your sense of self within relationships. If you're single, choose self-respect and clarity over fleeting connections. You may meet someone through work or shared ambitions—possibly someone mature, driven, or older. While chemistry will be strong, emotional compatibility will be your most reliable compass. Between September and November, a meaningful relationship could begin—one that mirrors both your strengths and vulnerabilities, teaching you about balance, trust, and emotional intelligence. For those in relationships, this year may involve redefining roles, particularly if one partner feels overburdened or underappreciated. Open communication will be vital. Avoid power struggles and focus on mutual support and trust. Family dynamics may also come into play—especially if you're balancing caregiving responsibilities or facing generational expectations. The overall theme? "Emotional leadership"—the art of being strong without being controlling, and generous without self-sacrifice. Health Health-wise, this year's theme revolves around managing stress linked to ambition, structure, and responsibility. Without proper balance, these pressures may take a toll on your mental and physical well-being. Establish a consistent wellness routine early in the year, focusing on cardiovascular fitness, nervous system regulation, and core strength. Activities like martial arts, brisk walking, or strength training can help boost stamina and relieve tension. From July to October, be especially mindful of your back, heart, joints, and digestive health, particularly if you're bottling up emotional stress. Symptoms like fatigue, insomnia, or muscle tightness may stem from overwork or emotional rigidity. Prioritize relaxation therapies such as deep-tissue massage, sauna sessions, or yoga nidra. Your body isn't asking you to lead with intensity—but with sustainability. Journaling or therapy can also help process inner expectations and encourage more compassionate self-talk. A well-balanced lifestyle will support clearer decision-making and emotional resilience. Travel Travel this year will be intertwined with career growth, emotional healing, and self-discovery. Between May and September, expect more work-related journeys—for training, networking, or new ventures. These trips will expand your professional outlook and enhance your strategic vision. Look to September and December for opportunities in leisure travel or spiritual exploration, especially to destinations known for peace, scenic beauty, or cultural richness. You may be drawn to places that help you break away from routine and reconnect with your inner purpose. If relocating or living independently has been on your mind, this year will offer moments of clarity and planning—though the actual move may happen next year. During Mercury retrograde periods (April, August, and November), be extra cautious about travel delays, miscommunications, or logistical hiccups. Stay flexible and plan ahead. Ultimately, travel will reflect more than movement—it will symbolize your journey toward freedom, self-direction, and reclaiming personal space. You Share Your Birthday With P. V. Naidu unveils vision to turn AP into global tourism hub
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday unveiled an ambitious vision to position Andhra Pradesh as a global destination of tourism, emphasising its role as an engine for economic growth, employment generation, and cultural promotion. Addressing industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders at a tourism conclave here, the Chief Minister said his goal is to make Andhra Pradesh a wealthy, healthy, and happy state. "Andhra Pradesh will be the future destination for wellness and happiness. My goal is a wealthy, healthy, happy Andhra Pradesh - that is the goal I have set," he said. He extended a special invitation to Baba Ramdev, who attended the conclave as the special guest, to serve as a spiritual guide and advisor, urging him to actively promote wellness tourism in the state. Observing that one in every ten jobs created globally comes from the tourism sector, Naidu said it generates eight jobs for every Rs 1 lakh invested, more than sectors like IT, manufacturing, and agriculture. Naidu outlined plans to grow the sector's employment share from 12 per cent to 15 per cent and increase its contribution to the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) from Rs 74,000 crore to Rs 2.4 lakh crore by 2029. From the 19,500 hotel rooms currently available in the state, Naidu said the target is to scale up to 50,000 rooms in the next four years. Naidu also spoke about the inclusive Homestay Policy, which aims at establishing over 10,000 homestays across tribal, rural, coastal, and heritage regions. The government is actively developing seven tourism anchor hubs: Visakhapatnam, Araku, Rajahmundry, Amaravati, Srisailam, Gandikota, and Tirupati. Additionally, over 25 thematic circuits are planned, including 10 temple circuits, five coastal routes, four river routes, two cruises, two Buddhist circuits, and three eco-tourism trails, he added. Dispelling the notion that tourism investment is exclusive to the wealthy, the Chief Minister presented the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024–29 as a 'game changer'. Tourism has now been granted industry status across all segments, he pointed out. Ajay Jain, Special Chief Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department, also spoke. Amrapali Kata, Managing Director, AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), unveiled a tourism growth dashboard for real-time performance monitoring. On the occasion, the Chief Minister launched Andhra Pradesh's Tourism Digital Calendar, along with a new brochure, strategy paper, and the annual tourism event schedule. APTDC also signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 10,329 crore in the Chief Minister's presence. Naidu also officially flagged off the state's Caravan Tourism initiative. This new programme offers modern, mobile travel solutions for families and groups, designed to boost tourism in lesser-known destinations, create employment opportunities, and support sustainable regional development.

Justice Department abruptly fires 3 prosecutors involved in Jan. 6 criminal cases: Sources
The Justice Department on Friday fired at least three prosecutors involved in U.S. Capitol riot criminal cases, the latest moves by the Trump administration targeting attorneys connected to the massive prosecution of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack, according to two people familiar with the matter. Those dismissed include two attorneys who worked as supervisors overseeing the Jan. 6 prosecutions in the U.S. attorney's office in Washington as well as a line attorney who prosecuted cases stemming from the Capitol attack, the people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters. A letter that was received by one of the prosecutors was signed by Attorney General Pam Bondi. The letter did not provide a reason for their removal, effective immediately, citing only "Article II of the United States Constitution and the laws of the United States," according to a copy seen by The Associated Press. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo A Justice Department spokesperson declined to comment Friday evening. The terminations marked yet another escalation of norm-shattering moves that have raised alarm over the Trump administration's disregard for civil service protections for career lawyers and the erosion of the Justice Department's independence from the White House. Top leaders at the Justice Department have also fired employees who worked on the prosecutions against Trump and demoted a slew of career supervisors in what has been seen as an effort to purge the agency of lawyers seen as insufficiently loyal. Live Events Trump's sweeping pardons of the Jan. 6 rioters have led to worries about actions being taken against attorneys involved in the massive prosecution of the more than 1,500 Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol as lawmakers met to certify President Joe Biden's election victory. Trump pardoned or commuted the sentences of all of them on his first day back in the White House, releasing from prison people convicted of seditious conspiracy and violent assaults on police. During his time as interim U.S. attorney in Washington, Ed Martin in February demoted several prosecutors involved in the Jan. 6 cases, including the attorney who served as chief of the Capitol Siege Section. Others demoted include two lawyers who helped secure seditious conspiracy convictions against Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and former Proud Boys national chairman Enrique Tarrio. In January, then-acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove ordered the firings of about two dozen prosecutors who had been hired for temporary assignments to support the Jan. 6 cases, but were moved into permanent roles after Trump's presidential win in November. Bove said he would not "tolerate subversive personnel actions by the previous administration."
