'He will face American justice': Indian-origin FBI chief Kash Patel announces extradition of Pakistani man; accused of ISIS terror plot

, an Indian-origin official leading the agency, announced Tuesday the extradition of Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a Pakistani citizen residing in Canada to the United States on terrorism charges.
Khan is accused of attempting to provide material support to
ISIS
and plotting a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn, New York.
'Major news… earlier this afternoon, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a Pakistani citizen residing in Canada, was extradited to the United States on charges of attempting to provide material support to ISIS and attempting to commit acts of terrorism,' Patel wrote on X.
According to the FBI, Khan allegedly planned to travel from Canada to New York and carry out a mass shooting on October 7, 2024 — the anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel — in support of ISIS.
He was arrested by Canadian authorities on September 4, 2024, before the attack could be executed.
'Thankfully, the great work of FBI teams and our partners exposed those plans and shut them down,' Patel said. 'He has now arrived in the U.S. and will face American justice.'
Calling it a reminder of the 'constant threat of terrorism facing every corner of the world,' Patel also highlighted the 'disturbing rise in threats against our Jewish communities.'
He credited multiple FBI field offices, including in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, for their role in the operation.
Though the announcement came from Indian-origin Patel, many in India have long remained skeptic on the United States for allegedly providing safe haven to Pakistan-backed terrorists. However, under the Trump administration, Washington's stance appears to be shifting.
Just after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the White House, President Donald Trump approved the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-origin key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, to India.
Rana was handed over in April to face trial for his role in the attacks.
Still, another central figure in the case, David Headley, remains imprisoned in the United States.
President Trump also strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of at least 26 people. Expressing solidarity, he said, 'PM Modi and the incredible people of India have our full support and deepest sympathies.'

A 27-year-old government employee from Hyderabad lost ₹2,05,500 after falling for a WhatsApp scam where a fraudster posed as a friend struck at the Delhi airport. On May 22, the victim received a WhatsApp message from a UK number, claiming to be a friend of his friend who is studying in London. 'When the victim tried calling his friend, the call did not go through. Later, the fraudster called and mimicked the friend's voice, saying he was flying to Hyderabad from London,' said an officer from the Hyderabad Cyber Crimes police. The fraudster called again claiming he had been detained at Delhi airport by Income Tax officials over foreign currency issues. The victim then received another call, this time from an Indian number. The caller claimed to be an Income Tax officer and said the victim's friend needed to pay ₹55,500 as clearance and tax charges. A fake certificate supposedly signed by officials from Indian Customs and Tax Services was shared to make the demand look legitimate. Believing the situation was real, the victim transferred the money. A second demand followed for ₹1.50 lakh, which the victim also paid. When the fraudster asked for another ₹3.50 lakh, the victim grew suspicious and realised he had been scammed. He then lodged an online complaint. Authorities clarified that no government agency demands payments over phone or WhatsApp and advised victims of cyber fraud to immediately dial 1930 or visit In Hyderabad, citizens can also contact or WhatsApp 8712665171 for assistance.

No development in the state for two years, no guarantee even for CM Siddaramaiah: R Ashok

Imran's bail plea hearing cancelled as judge goes on leave
Islamabad, June 12 (UNI) Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expressed hope for the early release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi in the 190 million pounds case, which was cancelled after a judge went on leave. Justice Mohammad Arif, a member of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) division bench, went on leave, due to which the case was dropped from the cause list. Senior PTI members went to IHC, met officials in the chief justice's secretariat to ask for rescheduling for hearing. The court fixed June 26 for hearing the plea, seeking suspension of sentence, Dawn reported. PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Leader of the Opposition in the Natio¬nal Assembly Omar Ayub Khan, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan, were among the PTI leaders who went to the Islamabad High Court.
