Shin Yang acquires land in Sarawak for RM12.05mil
PETALING JAYA: Shin Yang Group Bhd is acquiring a parcel of leasehold land together with a warehouse building, measuring approximately 1.9469 hectares in Kuching, Sarawak from Forescom Plywood Sdn Bhd for RM12.05mil.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company, which is involved in the shipping of loose bulk and container cargoes, said the acquisition will support its warehouse expansion and logistics development for door-to-door services as a complete logistic service provider.
Shin Yang added that the acquisition will also facilitate future expansion of warehousing facilities on the land and reduce rental dependency and related party transactions by acquiring instead of leasing from Forescom Plywood.
'The property is strategically located within the industrial hub of Kuching and Kuching Port Region, Sarawak. This will enhance the group's operational capacity and logistical efficiency.
'The acquisition aligns with the group's long-term expansion strategy and is expected to contribute positively to its operational performance and asset base.'

Sapura Energy reports RM478mil 1Q26 loss
PETALING JAYA: Sapura Energy Bhd , which reported a net loss in its first quarter ended April 30, 2025, expects its financials to improve in subsequent quarters. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the oil and gas company said this projection is in line with the progressive recognition of revenue from ongoing projects in the engineering and construction (E&C) division and with certain drilling rigs being on-hire on their new contracts. 'The group's unrestricted cash balance remains healthy and stood at RM1.85bil as at April 30, 2025.' In its first quarter ended April 2025, Sapura Energy reported a net loss of RM477.96mil, compared with a net profit of RM82.13mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue dropped to RM801.37mil from RM1.18bil a year earlier. 'Performance was impacted mainly due to losses being recognised earlier, particularly for a challenging E&C project in Angola, along with lower activity across the operations and maintenance and drilling segments due to project completions and seasonal factors. 'There was also no contribution from SapuraOMV in the current quarter, following the completion of its divestment in December 2024. The group expects its financials to improve in subsequent quarters, in line with the progressive recognition of revenue from ongoing projects in E&C and with certain drilling rigs being on-hire on their new contracts.' The group's orderbook currently stands at RM7.9bil.

LFE Corp secures contracts worth RM70.84mil for Cyberjaya, Ara Damansaras projects
KUALA LUMPUR: LFE Corporation Bhd has secured four contracts worth a total of RM70.84 million for construction and material supply works in Cyberjaya and Ara Damansara. In filings with Bursa Malaysia, the construction and engineering company said its wholly-owned subsidiaries, LFE Engineering Sdn Bhd and LFE Innovative Sdn Bhd, accepted letters of award from Puncak Concept Sdn Bhd and SD Ara Damansara Development Sdn Bhd today. "The contracts are expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings and net assets per share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2025 and up to the expiry of the contracts," LFE said. The awards are considered recurrent related party transactions (RRPT) as LFE's executive chairman and substantial shareholder, Chuah Chong Ewe, is also a director and shareholder of Puncak Concept and SD Ara Damansara Development. RRPT refer to business deals between a company and companies linked to its directors or major shareholders, as part of its normal operations. The contracts cover earthworks, precast concrete piles and retaining wall works for a proposed development at Lot 115104, Cyberjaya, valued at RM7.89 million, with a contract period of nine months until March 2026. For the Ara Damansara project at Oasis Ara, the contracts cover design and build works for underpinning, structural strengthening, as well as demolition and reconstruction of ramps, valued at RM62.95 million, with a contract period of 21 months until March 2027.
