Jade Thirlwall calls out invasive pregnancy speculation amid solo career pressures

Daily Mirror03-05-2025
Singer Jade Thirlwall says she finds constant questions about having children, with Rizzle Kicks' Jordan, hard to handle as she opened up about the pressures on ITV's The Assembly
Singer Jade Thirlwall says she finds constant questions about having children hard to handle. The former Little Mix star, who has gone on to forge a hugely successful solo career, opened up about the pressures to have a family.
Jade, 32, has been dating Rizzle Kicks musician Jordan Stephens for five years, and says she finds speculation about her being pregnant 'invasive' on ITV 's The Assembly.

'The thing that annoys me the most is 'Am I going to have children, am I pregnant?'' she offloads. 'I find it weird that people ask that as they don't know what my circumstances are. You don't know if someone can't have children, they don't want to or aren't ready yet."

"I think it's an invasive question. I've put on a bit of weight since I've become a solo artist. Then people speculate. I'm like 'Babe, I've just had a bit of garlic bread.' I'm bloated. I feel like I always have to be conscious of it.'
South Shields-born Jade rose to fame on ITV talent show The X Factor, when she auditioned as a solo singer and was put into group Little Mix with Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson.
She launched her own solo career last year with hit single Angel of My Dreams, which won best song at this year's Brit Awards.
The singer was quizzed by a group of autistic, neurodivergent and learning disabled people for ITV series The Assembly.
They brought some hard-hitting questions, grilling Jade on her talent show days, asking if she'd 'sold her soul' on The X Factor.

'Maybe a little bit in the beginning,' she winced. 'I was so young and I'd just signed the dotted line. But as the years have gone by and I've got to know more about the industry... it's a bit like Thanos with the stones, I've been collecting parts of my soul back as I've gained more creative freedom and I've learned more about the industry.'
Asked if the demise of the show means the end of boss Simon Cowell, she said: 'I think it's the end of that TV show, the end of that era. I don't think it's the end of Simon Cowell specifically.'

She opened up about her first dates with Jordan, 33 - saying she laid down her biggest turn offs straight away.
'We asked each other very serious questions like, do you clap when the plane lands because that's a big ick for me.'
She also recalled a disastrous meeting with a budding suitor before they got together.

'I've been catfished before,' she revealed. 'I met up with a guy at a bar. I didn't know it was him as he looked so different. He was asking a lot of intrusive questions, almost like a journalist, so I got the ick quickly there.'
Jade got emotional when asked about the tragic death of her friend Liam Payne last year.
'He was the first friend I made in the industry,' she said. 'We both auditioned for X Factor when we were very young. He was so lovely. He was very talented. He really wanted to make his family proud, which he did. I remember everyone on the show at the time saying this person is a star. He literally had the X Factor. He was destined to be a musician, a singer.'

Chart-topping band reveal Oasis have ‘inspired' upcoming new album as frontman lifts lid on new record

Read on for shock rumours over Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet WE'RE ON FIRE Chart-topping band reveal Oasis have 'inspired' upcoming new album as frontman lifts lid on new record IT has only been just over a year since Kasabian landed their seventh consecutive No1 album with the brilliant Happenings. And us fans won't have long to wait for another one, as seeing Oasis provided the spark for Kasabian to fast-track their plans as frontman Serge Pizzorno tells me their next record will drop next year. 14 Kasabian frontman Serge Pizzorno reveals the band have been inspired by Oasis to speed up work on their next album 14 The band's new album is set to drop next year - with hopes for an eighth no1 Credit: Neil Bedford 'It's been seven No1's in a row,' Serge says. 'I'll tell you why I know. It's because, outrageously, the first [album] went to No4 and the rest all went to No1. 'It's been amazing for us. 'If we're not on stage, I'm in the studio. I am always making music. It's a constant thing. READ MORE FROM BIZARRE LAYS DOWN LAW Liam Gallagher banned from popular act at end of Oasis gigs after fan injured 'We just played two warm up shows and two huge festivals off the back of these shows. It feels so exciting. 'The new generation that have got into this record and the generation that have always been with us — they're combining and it is wild. 'We've never seen anything like it. I am telling you, the gigs we have just done have been the most amazing energy. It's a massive party, a rave. 'These shows have set up the next record so well. We are looking to get something out next year.' Like me, Serge — a fellow Leicester local — was at Cardiff to watch Oasis's first night. And, as we chat, he admits Noel and Liam Gallagher have helped him along with the new album. He explains: 'I had to see the first one, to be there for the walk on. To see them arm in arm was really special. Iconic Noughties band returning with huge homecoming show and new album 'It was surreal and beautiful — and sonically incredible. They sound so, so good. 'You know it was a big moment, a poignant moment. It was inspiring.' Today, Serge and his bandmates will release a brand new version of their Happenings album track G.O.A.T after Sky Sports announced it would be the new title track for the 2025/26 Premier League season and beyond. Serge et al teamed up with rising London-born star Cristale for the tune, which will be used on all the Premier League coverage from today. Serge says: 'Sky heard the song on the record and it was straight away, 'This is perfect.' 'I wanted to reimagine it. I made it quicker and more epic. 'Cristale is so cool. Someone sent me a link to her Spotify and I was like, 'Wow, she is great.' She has an amazing flow.' A fellow football fan, like my step-dad Alan, Serge is a die-hard Foxes fan and admits it was tough saying goodbye to his pal Jamie Vardy, who left the club earlier this year. 'It was emotional,' Serge says. 'It really is that Hollywood story, a non-league player until his mid-twenties, signing for Leicester, he was £1million. He was so raw. There was a spark there because he was so exciting to watch. 'And then it clicks and he became a true legend. Not just for Leicester. 'He is one of the best Premiership strikers we've seen. 'Think about the legends there are, he's in that pantheon. 'We go all around the world and people know Leicester's number nine. And that is a crazy thing. 14 Serge is a die-hard Foxes fan and admits it was tough saying goodbye to his pal Jamie Vardy, above, who left the club earlier this year Credit: Getty 'We play in Tokyo and Buenos Aires and people are talking about Vards. Netflix Love is Blind fans have 'no sympathy' for Scots star who breaks down in tears

Scot Katisha Atkinson, 31, found herself in a messy love triangle on the reality TV dating show and teaser clips reveal she could have made the wrong choice in Javen. Love is Blind UK returned to Netflix for a second series earlier this week. Fans have already been binge-watching the popular dating show and sharing their thoughts online since the first crop of episodes dropped on Wednesday. ‌ Among the 30 participants entering the pods looking for love, sight unseen, was 31-year-old Scots nanny and make-up artist Katisha Atkinson. The Dumfries-born star has caused quite a stir on the programme, appearing to be involved in this year's big love triangle. ‌ Reacting to teaser clips of the episodes yet to come, which shows Katisha visibly upset, it appears her husband-to-be, Javen, is flirting with one of the co-stars at a group mixer. Fans have taken to social media to say they have 'no sympathy' for Katisha, as they voiced their thoughts. ‌ " Katisha really trying hard to convince herself self she made the right choice with Javen. Girl I'm sorry for you, you chose the guy who did nothing for you when you had a good soul like Demola. I just know your tears are going to be premium," one fan voiced. Someone else wrote: "Katisha is such a disappointment, at your big age still falling for the games?Good luck with that #loveisblinduk." "Cannot believe Katisha, says she has a type which is clearly toxic. Comes on #LoveisblindUK ignores intentional, loving fine Demola to choose the toxic Javen who didn't even fight for her. Now she siting in Greece making excuses for him #LoveIsBlind," wrote someone else. One fan pointed out: "Women love toxic men, that is the only reason Katisha is picking that man over Demola #LoveIsBlindUK," as someone else said: "Katisha has terrible decision making skills, that's a huge loss, Demola did everything right #LoveIsBlindUK." ‌ Further teaser clips show that despite opting to open her heart to Javen, Katisha faces a rather awkward encounter when she comes face-to-face with Demola in upcoming episodes. "I do not want to see Katisha go back to Demola after she broke his heart. Pls, I don't want to see another Nicole-Sam-Beneiah situation like last year. She better stick with her decision," one fan wrote. Someone else added: "Katisha chose Javen? Who's clearly immature and just there for the 'game'? Katisha, girl, hope you like laying in the dumbass bed you just made #LoveIsBlindUK." ‌ "Katisha loves toxic men because wtf. Hope she watched this back and feel shame #LoveIsBlindUK," chimed in another fan. The first four episodes of Love Is Blind will be available from August 13. Four more will follow on August 20 with the final four on August 27.
