2 teens arrested at Opry Mills after LPR hit on stolen car
The Metro Nashville Police Department said the Department of Emergency Communications received an LPR hit from Mt. Juliet for a stolen car entering Davidson County via Lebanon Pike.

According to officials, Violent Crimes detectives found the 2018 Volkswagen Jetta and followed it until a police helicopter was overhead.
The Jetta traveled to Opry Mills and parked near the food court entrance, where authorities said they arrested the 16-year-old and 17-year-old without incident on Tuesday, March 11. Both teens are charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft.
No additional details have been released about this incident.
Renewed call for LPRs after Nashville doctor involved in serious pedestrian hit-and-run
News 2 previously reported that every county surrounding Davidson County has LPR systems. In the past, some Metro Council members have expressed privacy concerns over LPRs, with one member saying LPRs have been caught up in controversy and politics after Nashville took part in a six-month pilot program that ended in 2023.
A current priority for Metro Council is passing Fusus, a program that allows police to access business surveillance cameras with the owners' permission. However, that program has also been met with criticism when it comes to privacy concerns.

(WKRN) — Experts say cryptocurrency theft is rare compared to more traditional types of white collar crimes, but a case made headlines last week when it happened to Nancy Jones, the widow of late country music star George Jones. Last month, when Nancy asked her granddaughter to check the safe in her home, her granddaughter reportedly discovered $400,000 in cash and a Ledger wallet containing millions of dollars in cryptocurrency were missing, according to court documents. Campbell Harvey, Professor of Finance at Duke University, said cryptocurrency investors have two choices when it comes to storing their crypto, and Jones used a specialized self custody wallet. 'If you share the password with somebody and you suspect the person is untrustworthy all of a sudden, then you change the password.' Harvey said another option cryptocurrency investors can take is using a centralized broker, like Coinbase, to hold the assets, comparing the process to investing in the stock market. 'You can, if you choose, delegate custody to a broker, and that substantially mitigates the risk of you losing your key, either by theft or just you forget what the password is, or the private key… and it's gone,' he added. According to police, the only person besides Nancy who had the private key to access her Ledger wallet was her ex boyfriend, 58-year-old Kirk West. West was taken into custody at the Nashville International Airport last Thursday and charged with theft less than 24 hours after the Franklin Police Department began its investigation. ⏩ 'Tracing the funds is one break in the wall. The second most important component is law enforcement interactions,' Bezalel Ethan Raviv, the CEO of Lionsgate Network, a company that helps people recover cryptocurrency, explained. 'We're seeing more and more success with law enforcement because they are the one, the only one, who can force seizure on a wallet.' While in this case, the victim and the suspect knew each other, Raviv also highlights the dangers of social media scams and being approached by strangers online. Nashville music community mourns deaths of ‘American Idol' executive, husband
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An 'American Idol' executive and her songwriting husband, with close ties to Nashville, were found dead in their California home, leaving many people heartbroken. The couple — identified as Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca, both 70 years old — were discovered with multiple gunshot wounds on Monday, July 14 after officers responded to the upscale Encino, California, residence for a welfare check around 2:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities said they believe the suspect, 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian of Encino, entered the home through an unlocked door. Then, when the homeowners returned, a violent struggle reportedly ensued between the couple and the suspect, resulting in the victims' deaths, before Boodarian ran off. Broadway bargoer robbed at gunpoint by fake rideshare drivers
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was defrauded of thousands of dollars after he was robbed at gunpoint by two women who allegedly impersonated a rideshare service. According to court documents, on March 30, 2025, the man left a bar on Broadway and got into a vehicle that he believed to be a rideshare vehicle or taxi. Inside the vehicle were 31-year-old Dakota Blunt and another woman. The suspects then left the victim and fled with his belongings. During the investigation, it was discovered that a new credit card was opened in the victim's name without his knowledge and approximately $18,000 was fraudulently charged to his bank accounts. ⏩ Surveillance footage from the locations where the fraudulent charges were made were used to identify Blunt and the other individual. No information was released about the status of the second person accused in the case. Blunt was charged with felony identity theft, felony property theft, felony aggravated robbery and felony aggravated kidnapping.
