Cowshed roof repairs begin as crews spotted working at Cappielow
Crews were spotted in Greenock this week starting work on damage sustained back in January when Storm Eowyn ripped through Inverclyde.

The impact at Cappielow saw the Cowshed closed for February's 2-2 draw with Airdrieonians, though it was returned to use three days later for the win at home to Hamilton, and remained open for the rest of the season - still with a hole in the roof.
Scaffolding has now been erected at both ends of the stand, with hoists put in place along the front to allow crews to get to work.
The repairs are expected to last for around a month, and the club says they should be complete in time for Ton's Championship opener at home to Dunfermline on August 2.

The work forced the club to call off their Communities Cup pre-season clash with St Mirren, while the Cowshed will be shut for the Premier Sports Cup clash at home to Stenhousemuir on July 15.

Goodwin confident he can get United 'going'
Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin is confident he can "get them going" following Thursday's Conference League disappointment. United lost on penalties to Rapid Vienna in the third qualifying round and the Tangerines face a Sunday trip to Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock in the Premier Sports Cup second round. "I don't think it will be difficult to get them going," said Goodwin. "I do obviously have a concern around about the energy levels within the group. "A number of the players have had to play every minute of every game this season so far, given the amount of players we have missing. "It was my first time as manager being involved in European football and I can respect what other managers and teams have had to go through in years gone by and I can see how difficult it is to get that balance right. "When you're missing seven or eight key players like we have been over the last three or four weeks, then it makes that all the more difficult, unfortunately."

'His ceiling is so high'
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers claimed the sky is the limit for Dane Murray after the centre-back celebrated his new contract with a maiden goal in first-team football. The 22-year-old headed home Celtic's third goal from an Arne Engels corner as the Rodgers' side beat Falkirk 4-1 at Parkhead to reach the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals. The central defender made his first appearances for Celtic in the Champions League play-offs against Midtjylland in 2021 but subsequently suffered two separate cruciate ligament injuries and did not play another first-team game for three years. He was recalled from a loan spell at Queen's Park midway through last season but injury ended his campaign prematurely after he returned to the Celtic team. However, he was one of six players drafted in by Rodgers on Friday and took his chance with a header from close range. Rodgers said: "It's great for him because he's a great boy. He's got a lot of potential. And I think over the next 12 to 18 months, he's going to really grow. "His ceiling is so high. There are areas of the game he needs to clearly work on. But he's 6ft 4in, he's quick, he can take the ball. "He has a comfort with the ball which aligns with top players. Just, concentration is something that's key for defenders. "But I really, really like him and that's the reason we've tied him down [to a new contract] - and I think he's got a great future."

'Get into the first team' - Saints confirm signing of young Scottish defender
SAINTS have confirmed the signing of 18 year old defender Rory Whittaker from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian on a three-year deal. The Scotland youth international joins Tonda Eckert's under-21s ahead of the Premier League 2 season starting at Newcastle United this weekend. Whittaker was 16 when he made 15 first team appearances for Hibs during the 2023/24 season, and spent last year on loan at fourth tier Spartans FC. After signing his deal, Whittaker said: "I think the facilities here are really good. It's exceptional, so I think I can better myself on and off the pitch. "Coming here is a massive thing for me, I obviously want to try and get into that first team, every young player wants to, that's the main goal but right now it's just to settle in and enjoy my time." Director of group talent strategy, Andy Goldie added: "Rory is another positive addition to our under-21s group, having already gained impressive first team and international experience in Scotland. "His athletic profile and offensive qualities provide more competition and depth in the full back areas, which is important for us to continue to build on the success of last season."
