‘Mana Ooru Kosam Maatamanti' aims to make vibrant villages
Speaking at the launch, Pawan Kalyan emphasised, 'The objective of this programme is not just to discuss problems, but to foster unity among villagers by bringing everyone together to discuss all village matters.' He highlighted the significance of the programme, noting that two hours of discussion on issues, village development, and other crucial matters led to the sanctioning of works worth nearly Rs 15 crore for a single village—a considerable achievement. He stressed that while government funds are essential, villages will truly flourish only with widespread public participation and awareness.
For the launch, villagers from Ravivalasa Gram Panchayat in Tekkali constituency, Srikakulam district, were brought to a cinema theatre in Tekkali. From his office in Mangalagiri, Pawan Kalyan participated via video conference, connecting with the villagers on the big screen through a live broadcast. He directly engaged with them, inquiring about village issues and current conditions.
Development works worth Rs 15 crore were sanctioned for Ravivalasa Panchayat, including 14 CC roads, 4 drainage systems, a dhobi ghat, a bus shelter, a school compound wall, tank restoration, water canal restoration, and facilities at cremation grounds, among others.
Pawan Kalyan called for greater public awareness regarding groundwater protection. He noted that groundwater depletion is a major cause behind kidney problems, similar to those seen in Uddanam, now appearing in many parts of the state.
He also encouraged everyone to participate in International Yoga Day on June 21, making yoga a part of their lifestyle.
Minister for Agriculture Kinjarapu Achannaidu, participating via video conference, expressed his delight that Pawan Kalyan chose his constituency to launch the 'Manam Ooru Kosam Maatamanti' programme.
Special Chief Secretary for Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Sasibhushan Kumar, Commissioner Krishna Teja, APSIRD Commissioner R Muthyal Raju and other senior officials, Srikakulam District Collector Swapnil and other district officials participated.

Like I previously said, the rent of the ministries functioning from rented buildings would cost the government nearly Rs 1,500 crore annually. Similarly, the government expenses were very high in the absence of an adequate number of MP residences. Despite a shortage of MP residences, no new residence was constructed from 2014 to 2024. We took this work as a campaign. Around 350 MP residences have been built since 2014." On the occasion, the prime minister planted a Sindoor sapling at the site and interacted with construction workers. ALL ABOUT THE HOUSING COMPLEX • The residential complex houses four towers—Krishna, Godavari, Kosi, and Hooghly—and has been built using advanced construction methods, including monolithic concrete with aluminium shuttering, helping complete the project on time while ensuring durability. • According to a government press release, the flats had been designed to be inclusive and accessible for persons with disabilities, and all buildings in the complex are earthquake-resistant. • Each flat offers about 5,000 square feet of carpet area, providing space for both living and official work. The complex also includes office areas, staff quarters, and a community centre to support MPs in their daily responsibilities. • The complex—in an effort to achieve sustainability—meets the GRIHA 3-star green building rating and follows the National Building Code 2016. Energy-saving features, renewable energy systems, and proper waste management have been incorporated. • The decision to go vertical was taken due to limited land availability in the Capital and to reduce maintenance costs, the government said. A modern security system has also been installed to ensure the safety of all residents. • The building includes a community centre on its premises, designed to serve as a hub for MPs' social gatherings and official functions. Explaining the rationale behind the project, the government said the need was felt due to inadequate housing for MPs. 'Owing to the limited availability of land, there has been a sustained emphasis on vertical housing developments aimed at optimising land use and minimising maintenance costs. This residential complex, situated at BKS Marg, New Delhi, offers significant locational advantages for the MPs, particularly due to its proximity to the Parliament House complex." No 50 per cent from Centre, Karnataka government spent 87 per cent on metro: CM Siddaramaiah
BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accused the Union Government of not following the 50:50 ratio in fund sharing for metro construction. The CM said that for building 96.1 km of metro in Bengaluru, the state's share was Rs 25,387 crore and the Centre's share was just Rs 7,468.86 crore. He said that by 2030, they are aiming to expand the Namma Metro network to 220 km. Speaking at the foundation stone laying for Bangalore Metro Phase 3 on Sunday, where he shared the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, among others, the CM said, 'Works for Bengaluru Metro started in 2005 when Dr Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister. As per the agreement, metro construction should have been taken up in a 50:50 fund ratio. However, the state's contribution in building the metro is high.' While acknowledging that the Centre is providing financial and technical assistance to metro, Siddaramaiah said that much of it comes in the form of loans and equity, which states must repay with interest. 'The State Government has provided its share of Rs 25,387 crore for Metro Phase 1, 2, 2A, 2 B and 3. For loan repayment, Rs 3,987 crore have been provided,' Siddaramaiah said. He said that so far, Rs. 59,139 crore have been allocated for metro projects with the state's contribution at 87.37% and the Centre's share at 12.63%. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also joined the CM and said the state had a major share in metro construction.
