Yahoo02-05-2025

Tottenham Hotspur assistant Vicky Jepson will leave the Women's Super League club at the end of the season to become head coach of the United States Under-20 women's national team.
Jepson joined Spurs from Liverpool in 2021 as assistant to Rehanne Skinner. Following the sacking of Skinner in March 2023, Jepson took interim charge of Spurs for the remainder of the season, helping the club to survival in the WSL.

The 38-year-old returned to an assistant role upon the appointment of Robert Vilahamn as Spurs' head coach in July 2023, and was a part of the coaching team which led the north London club to its maiden Women's FA Cup final in 2024. Jepson earned her UEFA A License in June 2024.
'It's hard leaving Tottenham Hotspur after four memorable years at the club, but I'm moving on to work for the most progressive organization in the world for women's football,' Jepson said in a statement published Friday.
'Working alongside the incredible leadership of Tracey, (U.S. Soccer Sporting Director) Matt Crocker and of course a serial winner in Emma Hayes is an amazing opportunity. I can't wait to get started.'
Jepson will lead the U.S. side ahead of preparations for the 2025 Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship in Costa Rica, which determines qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland.

Hayes has spoken about the importance of the USWNT's youth structure since her appointment in 2024, emphasising the value of repeating January's inaugural Futures Camp to develop a pathway into the senior team, and the necessity for a core group of players to play regularly together from youth level.
The U.S. team finished third at the Women's U20 World Cup in 2024 under Tracey Kevins, the U.S. Soccer Head of Development for the Women's and Girls. Kevins said Jepson brings a 'wealth of experience, tactical knowledge and a proven track record of developing talent for the highest levels'.
'Her leadership will be instrumental in driving our U-20 program, which serves as a crucial step in our National Team pathway,' Kevins added.
Jepson spent over a decade in Liverpool's coaching set-up and was appointed head coach in 2018. She was in charge during a particular period of under investment for the women's team as the club were relegated from the WSL in 2019-20 on a points-per-game basis following the curtailment of the season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jepson previously worked in a national team set-up with England as head coach of the under-17 side.
'I'm passionate about developing this next generation and I look forward to providing them with challenging and valuable experiences to help them grow as people and players,' Jepson added. 'There is such a rich pool of talent in the USA and I'm so proud to be part of the players' journey to senior international football.'

Liverpool wonderkid is a surprise candidate to REPLACE Luis Diaz

However, at the end of the day, Liverpool will want to bring in someone who can at least provide cover. Maybe not the same quality as Diaz but someone who has the same potential. And for that purpose Liverpool don't have to tap into the market. They can just promote one of the biggest talents in the academy right now. Advertisement We are of course talking about Rio Ngumoha. If Diaz leaves, he must absolutely be a surprise candidate to replace him. Ngumoha is a generational talent. There's a reason why Liverpool went all out to sign him and there's a reason why despite barely being 16-years-old, he's been regularly training with the club's first team all season, and catching the eye in training too. Ngumoha averages 13 dribblers per 90 minutes for Liverpool's academy sides this season. His one vs one ability puts him up there alongside some of the best prospects in the world. He showed against Accrington he can make an impact even against senior players. He's proving that in training sessions week, week out as well. Advertisement The one thing that has been missing a little bit is his end-product. But Ngumoha is improving that as well. He scored a brace in the U21s final game of the Premier League 2 season against Aston Villa. Recently, he provided an assist for England's U17 side in a crucial game against Italy at the U17 Euros and he scored twice and registered an assist against Northern Ireland in the final qualifying game in the lead-up to the tournament. Chelsea thought Ngumoha was good enough to play with the first team at 15-years-old. That's when he was first invited to participate in first team training sessions. He'll be 17-years-old by the start of the 2025/26 season and it already feels like he's ready to make the step-up. Sometimes you have to throw players in at the deep end, especially players as exciting as Ngumoha. If Diaz leaves, it will be a huge opportunity for the young man and Liverpool will absolutely consider Ngumoha as an option to fill the Colombian's void.

The five modern bars inside Hill Dickinson Stadium as Everton announcement made

Everton fans have voted for the 'fan-named pub' inside the Hill Dickinson Stadium to be named 'The Prince Rupert' following an online poll. Six thousand supporters cast their vote to name the pub, with the winner beating The Southall Arms 28% to 24%. Advertisement The Prince Rupert will now join four other bars in the West Stand of Everton's state-of-the-art new stadium, The Queen's Head, inspired by the pub where Everton Football Club was founded, Dixie's Sports Bar, a venue showcasing live sport from around the world and Kendall's Social, a space designed for music, entertainment and socialising before and after matches. The four bars will be in a special area named 'Village Street' where, in November 1879, St Domingo's became Everton FC. The Prince Rupert will be open to supporters with a membership or matchday access to Village Street and has been described by the club as a "social and atmospheric space steeped in the heritage of the club". The winning entry pays tribute to the lock-up or tower that features on Everton's crest, named after a historic figure from the 17th Century. Other names in the vote included Toffee Tavern, Eddie Cavanagh's, The Royle Oak and The Giants Taproom. Those supporters in the Village Street area of the stadium will have halfway-line seating, as well as the cost of food and drink covered in their membership. Advertisement Over on the East Stand, supporters can visit Trinity Place Bar, also with halfway-line seating, with the club describing it as follows: "A place where the past inspires the future, a truly Everton place, a home within our home. Trinity Place Bar is the location for you to provide the 'Spirit'. "A contemporary, football-focused bar where Everton's history and identity is evident from the moment you arrive. "Celebrate the club's history through immersive media and treasured memorabilia. Socialise at the striking island bar with food and drink included featuring fan favourites and regional classics, from pizza and fish and chips to burgers and burritos." Seasonal Memberships for Village Street may now be sold out, but supporters can still register their interest for match-by-match opportunities.

I played 500 games but never experienced an atmosphere like Goodison Park under the lights

Kevin Kilbane labelled the club's 2005 win over Manchester United as an experience like no other as he reflected on his love for Goodison Park. The winger, who made just over 100 appearances during a three-year stint at the Blues, played the full 90 minutes in a win that was crucial to securing Champions League qualification that season. Advertisement It came under the lights and was secured by a second half Duncan Ferguson header from Mikel Arteta's free-kick, a goal that sparked wild celebrations. Speaking a fortnight after the emotional goodbye to Goodison , which will host Everton Women from next season, Kilbane said: 'It'll always be my favourite ground. I used to love the older grounds. Even before I signed for Everton, I loved White Hart Lane and I loved Goodison Park. Advertisement "They were my two, and I'm not just saying it because I played for Everton, they really were.' Kilbane was a key part of the squad that, during current manager David Moyes' first spell at the club, secured a top four league finish. Speaking to the ECHO, via Online Casino , he said: 'When you get the chance to play at Goodison, I think any Evertonian, every fan, would always have said, Everton under the lights was very, very special. "The night games, the big games at night at Goodison Park were incredible. 'The one that sticks out in my mind was when we played Man United, when we qualified for the Champions League, when Duncan Ferguson got the winner . That is one memory that I always have - that I've never probably experienced an atmosphere like it. "And I'm a bit gutted I wasn't able to get back this year but it's such a special ground in many different ways.'
