Iran Retaliates but Markets Maintain Calm
Iran, reportedly, attacked a U.S. airbase in Qatar on Monday after America hit Iranian nuclear sites in Fordow and Natanz on Saturday. However, the Iranian missiles were intercepted by Qatar and no casualties were reported.
Investors had initially panicked that crude prices would soar after U.S. joined the conflict. However, Iran's response was more restrained than expected, leading to a sell-off in oil on Monday as investors believe that the ongoing conflict will not disrupt crude supply to the extent they had initially believed.
West Texas Intermediate futures fell over 7% to close at $68.51 per barrel after hitting six-month high of $78 per barrel a day earlier. Energy stocks declined on Monday. shares of Exxon Mobil Corporation (

Rate Cut Hopes Rise
Concerns over the ongoing Middle East crisis were offset by prospects of the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates as early as July. President Donald Trump has repeatedly slammed Federal Reserve Chaiman Jerome Powell for not cutting interest rates which is costing the U.S. economy 'hundreds of billions of dollars.'
However, Powell has maintained a hawkish stance saying that the Fed is in no hurry to cut interest rates and would like to see how Trump's tariffs impact the economy.
On Monday, Fed Vice Chair Michelle Bowman said "it is time to consider adjusting the policy rate" as threats to the labor market are becoming more significant than inflation worries linked to tariffs.
Also, Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee said that, so far, the economic effects of the tariffs have been milder than expected.
Market participants are expecting at least two 25 basis point rate cuts by the end of this year, with the first rate cut widely anticipated to be implemented in September. However, cooling inflation and threats to the labor market has raised hopes of an early rate cut.
Economic Data
In economic data released on Monday, National Association of Realtors said that existing home sales rose 0.8% in May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.03 million units, beating analysts' expectations of a rise of 3.95 million units. Year over year sales fell 0.7% in May.
Zacks Names #1 Semiconductor Stock
It's only 1/9,000th the size of NVIDIA which skyrocketed more than +800% since we recommended it. NVIDIA is still strong, but our new top chip stock has much more room to boom.
With strong earnings growth and an expanding customer base, it's positioned to feed the rampant demand for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Internet of Things. Global semiconductor manufacturing is projected to explode from $452 billion in 2021 to $803 billion by 2028.

How major US stock indexes fared Tuesday, 6/24/2025
U.S. stocks climbed near their all-time high after oil prices eased further on hopes that Israel's war with Iran will not damage the global flow of crude. The S&P 500 rallied 1.1% Tuesday and got back within 0.8% of its record. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.2%, and the Nasdaq composite jumped 1.4%. Oil prices fell roughly 6% and are below where they were before the Israel-Iran conflict began. That could give the Federal Reserve leeway to cut interest rates to help the economy, and its chair said it's waiting for the right time to do so. On Tuesday: The S&P 500 rose 67.01 points, or 1.1%, to 6,092.18. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 507.24 points, or 1.2%, to 43,089.02. The Nasdaq composite rose 281.56 points, or 1.4%, to 19,912.53. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies rose 28.53 points, or 1.3%, to 2,161.21. For the week: The S&P 500 is up 124.34 points, or 2.1%. The Dow is up 882.20 points, or 2.1%. The Nasdaq is up 465.12 points, or 2.4%. The Russell 2000 is up 51.95 points, or 2.5%. For the year: The S&P 500 is up 210.55 points, or 3.6%. The Dow is up 544.80 points, or 1.3%. The Nasdaq is up 601.74 points, or 3.1%. The Russell 2000 is down 68.95 points, or 3.1%.

Why Shopify Stock Was Climbing Today
Shares of Shopify (NASDAQ: SHOP) were moving higher today in line with a number of growth stocks in a day with broad gains across the market. The e-commerce software company seemed to benefit from favorable comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell about lowering interest rates. Additionally, stocks rose on news of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, though that seemed to have less of a direct effect on Shopify. As of 3:21 p.m. ET, the stock was up 4.6%. At the same time, the Nasdaq Composite was up 1.6%. Shopify gets a boost There was no company-specific news out on Shopify, but as an e-commerce software company with a high valuation, Shopify is sensitive to the macroeconomic cycle, including interest rates. On Tuesday, Fed Chair Jerome Powell said in remarks before Congress that rate cuts could come "sooner rather than later," though he stressed that the central bank could wait to see how tariffs play out. In its "dot plot" forecast last week, the Fed maintained its prediction that it would cut the Fed funds rate by 50 basis points over the remainder of the year, the same forecast it made earlier this year, meaning investors should expect two 25 basis-point cuts in the remaining four meetings. That's good news for Shopify as rate cuts should lower the discount rate in the discounted cash-flow valuation investors use to value stocks like Shopify. Lowering the discount rate increases Shopify's valuation. What's next for Shopify With its legions of small-business sellers, Shopify is at risk from higher tariffs, but the company offered strong guidance in its first-quarter earnings report, calling for mid-20s revenue growth rate and a free-cash-flow margin in the mid-teens. If it can maintain those numbers, the stock should continue to rise over the long term. Should you invest $1,000 in Shopify right now?
