Even Fox News Is Fact-Checking Trump's Deranged D.C. Claims
Fox News contributor Ted Williams, a criminal and civil trial attorney and former member of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, issued an acute fact check for Donald Trump Sunday. Williams informed the network that he found Trump's plan 'troubling' because 'crime is not out of control in the District of Columbia.'
'Yes there is crime, and there will always be crime,' Williams said, identifying minors as some of the major perpetrators of robberies over the last several years. 'In any major metropolitan city you're going to have, unfortunately, juveniles committing crimes.'
Trump has turned his attention towards Washington's crime since 19-year-old DOGE staffer Edward Coristine, better known as 'Big Balls,' was attacked a week ago by a couple of 15-year-olds who stole his iPhone. On Sunday, Trump said he would force the homeless out of the city 'IMMEDIATELY' and that his administration would imprison criminals 'very fast.'
'I would like to ask Mr. Trump,' Williams said. 'Where were you last month when a three-year-old child, Honesty Cheadle, was shot and killed as the result of crime in the District of Columbia?'
'Don't use this as a pretext to actually eradicate home rule,' he continued. 'And that seemed to be what Mr. Trump is interested in.'
Trump also posted an ominous warning to Washington's denizens early Monday, claiming that the city would be 'liberated' the same day.
'Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR,' Trump wrote on Truth Social. 'I will, MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN! The days of ruthlessly killing, or hurting, innocent people, are OVER! I quickly fixed the Border (ZERO ILLEGALS in last 3 months!), D.C. is next!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT.'

Authorities found that a Ford Mustang driven by White was traveling south on 133 in the left lane, while a Kia Sportage operated by Anderson had stopped at the intersection of Hopewell Church Road and GA-133. 'The Mustang…was traveling at an excessively high rate of speed, estimated to be 100+ visually by a Colquitt County Sheriff's Deputy who was traveling north on Ga. 133,' the Georgia State Patrol said. 'The Deputy turned around to attempt to initiate a traffic stop on the Mustang for speeding but was unable to pull out immediately because of traffic southbound.' 'As the Mustang approached Hopewell Church Road, the Kia Sportage … entered into Ga. 133 and was struck in the left side by the front of the Ford Mustang,' the agency's statement continued. Both White and Anderson died as a result of their injuries at the scene, authorities said. Anderson's vehicle was split in half following the collision, according to those close with Anderson, NBC affiliate WALB reported. Authorities said in their email to PEOPLE that they did not find that a high-speed chase was involved. According to a published obituary, Anderson, of Norman Pass, was a mother of three boys and one girl. 'Mrs. Anderson lived a life full of grace, love, and creativity,' according to the tribute. 'She was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from taking care of her children and creating a warm, welcoming home filled with love and laughter. She had a true gift for decorating, turning every room she touched into a reflection of beauty and comfort.' 'An artist at heart, she found joy in arts and crafts, always working with her hands and inspiring those around her with her imagination and talent,' the obituary read. 'She especially loved butterflies, which to her symbolized transformation, beauty, and the gentle presence of God's hand in all things.' A GoFundMe launched to pay for her funeral and help her kids stated that Anderson was her three sons' sole caregiver and provider. Explosion at steel plant leaves one dead and dozens hurt
An explosion at a US Steel plant near Pittsburgh left one dead and dozens injured or trapped under the rubble on Monday, with emergency workers on site trying to rescue victims, officials said. The explosion sent black smoke spiralling into the midday sky in the Monongahela Valley, a region of the state synonymous with steel for more than a century. An Allegheny County emergency services spokesperson, Kasey Reigner, said one person died in the explosion and two were currently believed to be unaccounted for. Multiple other people were treated for injuries, Ms Reigner said. Allegheny County Emergency Services said a fire at the plant started around 10.51am. The explosion sent a shock through the community and led to officials asking residents to stay away from the scene so emergency workers could respond. 'It felt like thunder,' Zachary Buday, a construction worker near the scene, told WTAE-TV. 'Shook the scaffold, shook my chest, and shook the building, and then when we saw the dark smoke coming up from the steel mill and put two and two together, and it's like something bad happened.' Dozens were injured and the county was sending 15 ambulances, on top of the ambulances supplied by local emergency response agencies, Ms Reigner said.
