Former media exec turns filmmaker with Naresh Agastya's romantic drama

What makes someone leave a steady, well-established career to start over in films? For Vipin Surya, who held senior roles in media and branding, including at a sports channel and an IPL franchise, it was a long-standing interest in storytelling that led him to filmmaking.
'For starters, I'm single! Had I been saddled with responsibilities, it might not have been so easy for me. But more importantly, this abiding love for cinema is due to my late father Sivananda Raja who had a profound impact on me. He was a director who made a couple of films and television serials. He was highly fond of literature and the arts, and I inherited this trait from him. Whatever I am in life today is entirely because of him,' shares Vipin, who is making his debut as a director with Meghalu Cheppina Prema Katha.
Naresh Agastya
and Rabiya Khatoon star as Varun and Meghana in the romantic drama, with music composed by
Justin Prabhakaran
, best known for his work in Radhe Shyam. Describing the story, Vipin says, 'I guess every person at some point in their lives dreams of going away to a beautiful, exotic location and meeting their soulmate. What possibly can come in the way of their union? What past baggage might prevent them from expressing their love for each other? This forms the premise of the movie.'

Watch: Rohit Sharma's dance moves with wife go viral amid ODI ranking surge

Rohit Sharma's viral dance moves with wife. (Video grab) NEW DELHI: India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma is making headlines off the pitch, with a viral video showing the star batter dancing with wife Ritika Sajdeh at her brother's wedding. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The video is reportedly from 2023, and the girl accompanying the star couple in the dance moves was the bride of the big day. The clip, which has lit up social media, also features the couple practising their moves at home before the big performance. WATCH: The 38-year-old is currently on a break from cricket following the 2025 IPL season. In the latest ICC ODI rankings for batters released on Wednesday, Rohit climbed to No. 2, overtaking Pakistan's Babar Azam , who slipped to third after a lean series against the West Indies. With 756 points, Rohit now sits just behind India's Test captain Shubman Gill (784). Poll What do you think of Rohit Sharma's dance moves at the wedding? Impressive and fun! A nice break from cricket! Former captain Virat Kohli holds fourth spot with 736 points, while Shreyas Iyer (8th) and KL Rahul (15th) ensure India has five batters in the top 15. Rohit and Kohli, both retired from Test cricket earlier this year, are expected to feature in the three-match ODI series against Australia in October. The veteran opener recently began training with former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Mumbai, signalling he's not ready to walk away from the 50-over game just yet. An ODI legend with 32 centuries — behind only Virat Kohli (51) and Sachin Tendulkar (49) — Rohit was Player of the Match in India's Champions Trophy final win against New Zealand earlier this year. Amid his ranking surge, it's his wedding dance steps — not his trademark pull shots — that are stealing the spotlight. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

‘This is just the start,' says Dewald Brevis after record-breaking 125* off 56 balls vs Australia

Dewald Brevis's utterly incredible 125 not out off 56 balls in the second T20I against Australia was described by his captain Aiden Markram as a 'freakish display' of his talent, which has been spoken of since his days in Under-19 cricket. He broke the record for highest score by a South African in a T20I match, held by Faf du Plessis since 2015. Brevis said after the match that he sees the innings as only the beginning for him. 'This is just the start, if I could say it like that,' he told reporters. 'I just want to keep working hard, do the same things and the next match is the next match. So this 100, I can enjoy it now, think a bit about it, watch it maybe, but then when the next match comes, it's completely a new match and anything can happen.' Brevis may have drawn comparisons to South Africa great AB de Villiers as a teenager, which led to him being known as 'Baby AB'. However, a majority of his shots during his epic knock on Tuesday were clean strikes in the V, whereas De Villiers got the nickname of 'Mr.360' due to his ability to hit to all parts of the ground. De Villiers and fellow South Africa legend Dale Steyn were among those who expressed their amazement on their social media handles, with the former also saying that a number of Indian Premier League (IPL) teams missed out on a chance to sign Brevis in the 2024 IPL auction. Brevis had gone unsold and ended up starring for Chennai Super Kings when the franchise signed him on as an injury substitute. Brevis said that the way he played in Darwin was his 'natural' style of batting. 'I've hit thousands of balls and I just want to go out there, enjoy it and have fun and just watch it and then if it's there, it happens. I don't try to do it, I'm just trying to be myself and have fun and watch the ball and then it happens,' he said. Brevis, however, said that he decided to be himself and stick to his way of batting only about eight months ag0. 'I believe God blessed me with a talent to play like that, to play aggressively. Last year, on 28 December, I made that commitment. I got a few people, they know who they are, who I trust and the main thing was just to be the original Dewald and to be on that side of it and every ball, wherever it is, to watch it and to hit it,' he said.
