At just 19 years and 93 days old, Lhuan-dre Pretorius became the 10th youngest player ever to score a Test century and the fifth youngest to do so on debut. Pretorius had already turned heads with a standout performance in the 2025 SA20 season, where he topped the run charts and earned his place in the Proteas setup. He was also signed by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL as a replacement player, a nod to his growing reputation in the T20 circuit. Pretorius looking to impress against Australia

With a fearless approach, clean ball-striking, and a temperament suited to international cricket, he's seen as a major prospect for South Africa as they build toward future campaigns in all formats.
In the 2023–24 CSA T20 Knockout Challenge, Pretorius impressed again, finishing as the sixth-highest run-getter. His T20 franchise debut came the following summer with the Paarl Royals in January 2025, where he made an immediate impact by scoring a career-best 97 in his very first game.

Rohit Sharma hits the gym to train with Abhishek Nayar amid reports of ODI retirement

Rohit Sharma teamed up with former India coach Abhishek Nayar for a new fitness regime amid ODI retirement rumours. The former India Test and T20I captain is looking to stay fit for the 2027 Cricket World Cup despite speculation over his future. Former India Test and T20I captain Rohit Sharma is not letting retirement rumours slow him down. Even though there are reports that the Indian skipper could soon be forced to call time on his ODI career, Rohit has made it clear he wants to keep playing until the 2027 Cricket World Cup. After stepping away from Tests and T20Is in the past 12 months, the 38-year-old is now fully focused on staying fit for the 50-over format. Some reports emerged suggesting that the BCCI might ask both Rohit and Virat Kohli to retire from ODIs in the upcoming series against Australia because they want to give more chances to young players. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Rohit Sharma trains with former India coach However, it appears that these reports are not impacting Rohit he has teamed up with his old Mumbai teammate Abhishek Nayar for a fresh fitness regime. Rohit has always spoken highly of Nayar's training methods and has also worked with him in the past. Nayar was also India's assistant coach before being sacked by the BCCI. Since the end of IPL 2025 in June, Rohit has enjoyed some time off with his family. He was recently seen watching India's fifth Test against England at The Oval. If Rohit is selected for the upcoming ODIs, which is very likely since he is still the captain, he will need to keep himself in top physical shape. Playing 50-over cricket demands good stamina. The selectors will expect him to be match-ready, both mentally and physically. However, without regular cricket in his schedule right now, it can be challenging for Rohit to maintain the same level of fitness that comes easily during a busy season. Training in the nets is one thing, but the intensity of actual matches is hard to replicate.

Dewald Brevis rewrites record books with a knock for ages, pips Faf du Plessis; achieves feat even AB de Villiers missed

Dewald Brevis lit up the Marrara Oval in Darwin on Tuesday night as he tore down a host of records for South Africa during their 53-run victory over Australia. The 22-year-old scored 125* off just 56 deliveries, in an innings that helped propel the Proteas to 218/7 in the first innings before a clinical bowling performance ensured that the hosts were bowled out for 165 to claim an easy win. Dewald Brevis hit eight sixes enroute to his 125*(56) against Australia.(AFP) Brevis' innings saw him take down record after record. This included the highest-ever score in a T20I match by a South African player, surpassing Faf du Plessis' 119, and establishing himself at the top of his list. Highest scores by South African players in T20Is: Dewald Brevis – 125* vs AUS Faf du Plessis – 119 vs WI Richard Levi – 117* vs NZ Reeza Hendricks – 117 vs PAK Brevis also overtook Richard Levi as the youngest centurion for South Africa in T20I cricket, bringing it up at the age of 22 years and 105 days. Needing just 41 deliveries to reach his century, Brevis stands behind only David Miller in terms of fastest T20I centuries for the country. Miller had taken 35 deliveries during his innings against Bangladesh in 2017. Brevis became only the sixth player to register a T20I century against Australia, joining the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Brendon McCullum, and Martin Guptill. He also now holds the record for the highest individual T20I score against Australia, surpassing Gaikwad's score of 123* in 2023. Remarkably, this was also the highest score by any player in any men's T20I in Australia, with nobody having scored more than his 125*. The previous record was held by Shane Watson, who scored 124* at the SCG. This was also South Africa's highest total against Australia, and included the second-highest partnership for any wicket across all matches through Brevis and Stubbs putting on 126 runs with each other. With the ball, Kwena Maphaka kept his strong series going, picking up another three scalps to go with his 4-fer from the first T20I. Although he was expensive, he had an impact, but the same could not be said for Josh Hazlewood, who conceded his worst career T20I figures, of 1-56 in his four overs.

In the viral picture, Rohit can be seen in the gym, which is an indication that he has kicked off his preparations for the upcoming India's white-ball tour of Australia. The Indian men's cricket team will travel to Australia in the third week of October to take part in a three-match ODI series, which will be followed by five T20Is between the two teams in Australia. Rohit last played an ODI match for India on March 9, 2025, against New Zealand in Dubai.
