HARRIET Cowan has hit back at sexist stereotypes after joining the cast of Clarkson's Far. The blonde beauty is the newest addition to the selection of farm hands that help out Jeremy Clarkson on his 1,000 acre Oxfordshire site. 9 9 9 In series four of the show, the former Grand Tour star needed help to run Diddly Squat. His trusted right-hand man Kaleb Cooper was touring the country with his one-man show, The World According to Kaleb. As the farm hand travelled around the UK meeting his adoring fans, life became difficult for Jezza on Clarkson's Farm. Jeremy became overwhelmed as he tried to operate machinery, drive his new tractors, and deal with the animals with little success. So he brought in Derbyshire native Harriet, who got stuck right into farm life. When Kaleb eventually returned, although he was wary at first, they soon became acquainted as they developed a friendship. They even helped each other deal with a particularly difficult pig as Jeremy stood back. Harriet has received plenty of attention since her appearance on the show, and she says she wants to challenge farming stereotypes. She told The BBC: "I think when you talk to somebody and ask what they stereotypically think of when someone says farmer they say '60-year-old man with a checked shirt and a beer belly', "A lot of the time that is it, but us women are out here and farmers too. "He just wanted to achieve something with his farm and look after his animals and get the best out of it." Unconscious cat saved by firefighters with oxygen mask after house fire
A cat that was found unconscious in a burning building has made a full recovery after being rescued then revived by firefighters using an oxygen un-named ginger feline was discovered in the fire at a terraced house in Broadway Place, Barrowford by Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service on 22 used water and a specially-fitted equipment to get the cat breathing again before it was taken to the vet."We're happy to report the cat made a full recovery," Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said on Facebook. Firefighters used breathing equipment as they put out the fire at the property in the home in arrived at about 13:48 BST and were at the scene for about two hours. Animal ban for couple who kept 29 pets in flat in Exeter
A couple who kept 29 pets in a flat have been banned from keeping animals for eight Magistrates' Court heard Mark West and Rebecca Sowden had kept 14 snakes, 12 cats, a tortoise, a bearded dragon and a leopard gecko in a one-bedroom flat in Taunton Close, court was told the couple had been given advice 19 times by the RSPCA, social services, police and council officials about the state of the home and pair admitted two charges of failing to ensure welfare for the animals in their care. The court heard Sowden had studied animal care at college and West was a fast food delivery driver. 'Conditions were squalid' The animals were not fed, watered or exercised enough and had to live in the faeces-covered flat with not enough living space or heating, the court Judge Stuart Smith said: "The flat was not fit for humans or animals alike but they were forced to endure those conditions."The prosecution told the court the animals had all been signed inspector Miranda Albinson, who investigated the case, said: "The conditions within the property were squalid."She added: "These animals were badly neglected and were confined within a space that severely compromised their health and welfare."Judge Smith sentenced both Sowden and West to 12-month community orders with unpaid work, ordered them to pay costs of £514 each and banned them from keeping any animals for eight years.
