Leaders Of Designated Terror Organization Samidoun Call Murder Of Young Couple By Pro-Palestinian At Jewish Event In Washington, D.C. 'Only Logical' – Adding 'Yes – To Globalize The Intifada'
Samidoun is affiliated with the designated terrorist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and in October 2024 was designated terrorist by the U.S., Canada, and other countries. It raises funds for the PFLP.
Khaled Barakat, founder of both Samidoun and Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, and a member of the latter's executive committee, has been identified by the U.S. government as a senior member of the PFLP. He is also designated terrorist by the U.S. and Canada. A Canadian citizen, Barakat has been residing in Beirut for several months after being designated in Canada in October 2024.
Charlotte Kates, Barakat's wife, is Samidoun's international coordinator. Kates was arrested in May 2024 following her speech at a rally in Vancouver, British Columbia in which she expressed support for Hamas, the PFLP, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and Lebanese Hizbullah and demanded that they be removed from Canada's terror list. In August 2024, Kates traveled to Iran to accept Iran's "Eighth Annual Islamic Human Rights And Human Dignity Award," presented in Tehran on August 4 by the secretary general of the High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The following day in Tehran, she gave a detailed interview to Iran's Ofogh TV, discussing her arrest. Kates traveled to Lebanon to attend the funeral of Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah in February 2025 and so far appears to still be there.

Below are statements by Barakat and Kates about last night's murder:
Samidoun Founder Khaled Barakat: "Israel's Crimes In Gaza Are Responsible For The Killing Of Its Representatives In Washington"; "We Affirm That The Occupation Is The Original Crime, And That Those Who Seek To Criminalize The Reactions While Remaining Silent On The Massacre Are Complicit In The Ongoing Crime"
In a report published on the website of Masar Badil, aka the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, following the murder, Barakat was quoted as saying: "[T]he shooting incident that occurred in the U.S. capital, Washington, targeting employees of the 'Israeli' embassy, is a natural consequence of the Zionist entity's crimes in the Gaza Strip."
He added: "This explosion of anger in the heart of the U.S. capital is neither isolated nor random, but one of the manifestations of pain and deep rage stemming from the international community's disregard for the suffering of Palestinians, and its complicity in shielding the killers and granting them impunity. We affirm that the occupation is the original crime, and that those who seek to criminalize the reactions while remaining silent on the massacre are complicit in the ongoing crime."
Samidoun International Coordinator Charlotte Kates: "People Will Act When There Is No Accountability Whatsoever Imposed Upon That Genocidal Regime [Israel]"; "It's Only Logical That People Will Find Alternative Means Of Imposing Consequences" – "And Yes, To Globalize The Intifada"
On her X account, Samidoun International Coordinator Charlotte Kates wrote: "Urging everyone to avoid speculation about 'false flags' whenever an incident occurs that people find inconvenient for media." She added in the past that "basic actions of 'legal' protest are being criminalized."
In subsequent messages, she went on to write: "It should surprise literally no one that people will act when there is no accountability whatsoever imposed upon that genocidal regime," i.e. Israel, and that "it's only logical that people will find alternative means of imposing consequences." She concluded: "And yes, to globalize the intifada."

Houthis claim hypersonic missile strike on Israel
Shafaq News – Middle East The Yemeni Houthis Movement launched on Thursday a ballistic missile toward Israel. Houthi military spokesperson Yehya Saree stated that the armed forces carried out a 'qualitative military operation' in which the Palestine-2 missile unit targeted Lod Airport (Ben Gurion) near Tel Aviv with a hypersonic ballistic missile. He claimed the strike 'successfully achieved its goal,' causing 'millions of Zionist settlers to flee to shelters' and suspending airport operations. The Israeli army, however, announced that its air defense systems intercepted the missile before it reached Israeli territory.

Ankara warns YPG against regional destabilization
Shafaq News – Ankara On Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan pressed the People's Protection Units (YPG) to end what he described as hostile activities against Turkiye and the wider region. Ankara considers the YPG, the Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a terrorist organization. 'My call to the YPG is that they should immediately remove themselves as a threat to Turkiye and the region, along with the terrorists they have gathered from around the world,' he declared during a joint press conference in Ankara with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani. Responding to questions on the PKK/YPG's refusal to disarm and the stalled implementation of the March 10 agreement —which calls for integrating the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a coalition dominated by the YPG, into state institutions—the minister described the process in Syria as one rooted in goodwill and the protection of all rights, beliefs, and identities. He credited US Ambassador to Ankara and Syria Special Envoy Tom Barrack for his role, yet accused the YPG of 'stalling for time,' insisting that the instability they anticipate 'will not happen—and even if it does, the outcome they desire will never come to pass.' Turkiye, Fidan stressed, is monitoring developments closely, warning that the PKK/YPG should not expect their envisioned outcome in Syria to materialize. Regarding recent violence in Syria's southern Suwayda province, Fidan accused Israel of being 'one of the main actors behind this dark picture,' linking the unrest to what he described as Israel's expansionist policies in the region. 'Your [Israeli] security does not depend on the weakness or chaos of your neighbors, but on their prosperity and stability,' he added. 'Every step taken to keep these countries weak, unstable, or under occupation risks triggering further crises in the region.' Since the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024, Israel has carried out multiple strikes on Syrian military facilities, vehicles, and ammunition depots. In Suwayda, it intervened under the pretext of protecting the minority Druze amid clashes with Bedouin tribes and government forces, and also targeted Damascus, before a ceasefire took hold on July 19.

Jordan denounces Netanyahu's ‘Greater Israel' vision
Shafaq News – Amman Jordan condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday for recent remarks interpreted as a call for a 'Greater Israel,' warning they pose a direct threat to regional sovereignty and violate international law. During a cabinet meeting yesterday, Netanyahu reportedly outlined a vision for Gaza and the occupied West Bank in terms widely seen as endorsing permanent Israeli control over Palestinian territories. Though no direct quote was released, the remarks drew immediate backlash from Amman. 'This is delusional incitement,' said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sufian Qudah, calling Netanyahu's rhetoric a 'serious provocation' and a violation of the UN Charter. He stressed that such statements 'will not diminish Jordan or the Arab world, nor erase the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.' He described the Israeli premier's position as an escalation that reflects the 'beleaguered state' of the Israeli government amid growing global condemnation of its military actions. 'These reckless fantasies only inflame the conflict and endanger regional peace and stability,' the spokesperson noted, urging the international community to take a firm stand to address the situation.
