MELAKA, June 14 — A post-mortem has confirmed that a mother and her eldest son were fatally stabbed in the chest and back, in an incident where the suspect is believed to be the woman's second son, aged 17.
Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the 51-year-old teacher had suffered stab wounds to her chest and back, while her 21-year-old son died from a stab wound to the chest.
'A third victim, the youngest son aged 13, remains in intensive care at Melaka Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition,' he said in a statement yesterday.
Police said the suspect was arrested outside the family home, appearing dazed at the time. A 20cm bloodstained folding knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was found in a school bag outside the house.
The incident is believed to have occurred around 5 am on Thursday, with the victims were found unresponsive and covered in blood in the living room.
The teenager has been remanded for seven days until June 19 by Magistrate N. Sivashangari at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate's Court, to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. — Bernama

Pamela Ling's lawyer wants CCTV footage of alleged abduction released

Pamela Ling was reported missing on April 9 while on her way to the MACC's headquarters in Putrajaya. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : The lawyer of Pamela Ling, who was allegedly abducted in April, is demanding that police release the CCTV footage of the incident. N Sivananthan urged the authorities to release the recording because the investigation into Ling's disappearance 'seems to have reached a dead end', Malaysiakini reported. He also wants the images of her alleged assailants released. 'It's very frustrating, they have told me they have no leads whatsoever to locate her or find out what happened to her,' he was quoted as saying. Ling, 42, was reported missing on April 9 while on her way to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's headquarters in Putrajaya. On May 8, Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said they had CCTV footage of her alleged abduction. Rusdi also revealed that five vehicles were involved in the incident, and that three of the vehicles had used cloned number plates. 'About eight suspects' are believed to be involved in the alleged kidnapping, with CCTV footage showing that two of them were wearing police vests at the time. On May 15, Rusdi said Ling's husband, Sarawakian businessman Hah Tiing Siu, was arrested to assist in an investigation, but did not disclose the nature of the investigation. MACC chief Azam Baki had previously said Ling was a witness in a money laundering investigation.

Lawyer urges police to release CCTV of Pamela Ling's abduction as probe hits wall

KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 — The lawyer representing Datin Pamela Ling, who was abducted more than two months ago, has urged police to make public the CCTV footage and images of her kidnappers in a bid to revive the stalled investigation. Lawyer N. Sivananthan expressed deep frustration over the lack of progress in the case, revealing that police had informed him last week they still had no leads. 'It's very frustrating, they have told me they have no leads whatsoever towards locating her or finding out what happened to her,' Sivananthan told Malaysiakini today. He said it was difficult to understand why police were still withholding footage and visuals of the abduction, which took place on April 9 near the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya. 'At this stage, I don't understand why the police can't release the images to ask the public whether anyone can recognise them. 'What have they got to lose at this stage?' he added. Ling was in a Grab vehicle heading to meet anti-graft investigators when the car was intercepted by five other vehicles just as it neared the MACC premises. At a press conference on May 8, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed investigators had retrieved CCTV recordings of the incident. He said the footage suggested that at least eight individuals were involved in the abduction, including two men seen wearing police vests. Police believe the suspects were impersonating law enforcement personnel. A photofit of one of the suspects was also produced, but according to Rusdi, its low resolution rendered it of little use. Police had arrested Ling's husband Datuk Seri Thomas Hah Tiing Siu in connection with the case, but he was released the next day after the Putrajaya Magistrates' Court denied their request for a remand order. The Kuala Lumpur police have yet to respond to queries on whether they intend to release images of the suspects to the public.

Shooting in Bali villa leaves Australian man dead, another fighting for life

DENPASAR, June 14 — An Australian man was shot dead and another one was wounded in a shooting at their villa on the popular Indonesian resort island of Bali early Saturday, according to police who were hunting for two suspects. Local police chief Arif Batubara said in a statement that two men came to the victims' villa in the popular tourist hub of Badung district just after midnight, stormed inside, and shot the victims. 'We still don't know the motive of the attack,' Arif said. The dead victim was Zivan Radmanovic, 32, while the other man, Sanar Ghanim, 34, was seriously wounded and had been taken to hospital, Arif said. 'We are currently investigating the scene to find out the motive of this attack,' he said. Arif said, according to witnesses including Radmanovic's wife, the perpetrators who fled the scene after the attack were speaking in English with a thick Australian accent. 'We are currently investigating the case, scouring the scene and looking for more witnesses,' Arif said. — AFP
