I love any excuse to get dressed up, and the races certainly ticks the occasionwear box.
If you think you have to spend a fortune on a posh outfit, then think again.
The high street has really upped its game this year - supermarkets included.
Can you believe this polka dot co-ord is from F&F at Tesco?
I love the skirt and top combination, as it's a slightly different take on a classic dress option.
I've added a pop of colour with this red headband from Karen Millen and kept the rest of my accessories neutral, with a pearl bag, black heels and gold jewellery.
Plus, once I've worn this to the races, I can mix and match the pieces to create even more outfits.

Tracey proves that a suit can be just as glam as a dress

I go into a panic whenever I get asked to attend a formal occasion!
I don't look great in dresses or hats, so I have to be really specific about what I wear.
But I do love a suit, so opting for a two-piece always takes the pressure off a bit.
This soft pink, elegant suit from Mint Velvet feels dressy and special, but I know I will be really comfortable - and I'll still feel like me!
As for the hat, I hired one this year and am hoping it suits me when it arrives.
I do know I need a hat with height, so fingers crossed this Camilla Rose one will look the part in the royal enclosure.

This year, I'm swapping my frock for a jacket and skirt look inspired by Christian Dior.
I've been lucky enough to go to Royal Ascot a handful of times, but I feel overwhelmed by all the dresses on the high street and can't find one that's right for me.
So this year, I've built a look that doubles for Dior's iconic 'New Look' outfit that changed fashion history in 1950.
I've gone for this beautiful jacket from Aligne that's actually part of the bridal range, and paired it with a statement full skirt from Reserved.
Phase Eight has lots of fantastic headgear for races and weddings, so if you're looking for something that will make you stand out, definitely take a look.
I've gone for classic black court shoes and a Dior bag dupe from Fiorelli, and I'm all set.

Choosing an outfit for the races is always a challenge, especially with the unpredictable weather and strict dress codes.
For Ascot, it can be hard to find something stylish that's also appropriate, but I recently spotted this Zara co-ord that ticks all the boxes.
The boucle cardigan looks luxe, covers everything it needs to, and comes with a bandeau top underneath, so I can wear the buttons undone if the temperature rises.
I'm really into combo skirts right now - they're all over the high street and work especially well if you're petite, like me, giving the illusion of longer legs.
For shoes, these River Island heels are so comfortable, especially for long days, come in loads of colours, and the closed toe means no emergency pedicures!
I'm not usually a fan of hats, but this raffia number from John Lewis & Partners feels like a polished take on a sun hat, so it's perfect.

‘Can't wait to wear it!' rave fan of Phase Eight jumpsuit that's perfect for Ascot Race Day 2025
LADIES DAY at Royal Ascot 2025, and shoppers have found the perfect race day outfit. As part of Phase Eight's The Goodwood Edit, this stylish piece is the perfect blend of equestrian-chic and comfortable for a day spent outdoors. Maxine Spot Chiffon Jumpsuit, £149 Royal Ascot officially kicks off on June 17, ending on June 21. Those still hunting for the perfect outfit should look no further than the Maxine Spot Chiffon Jumpsuit from Phase Eight. Although you'll see high fashion throughout all of Ascot, Ladies' Day (June 19) is its own thing entirely. This elegant Phase Eight jumpsuit is perfect for race day glamour with a contemporary twist. The floaty one-piece is quickly becoming a must-have for race day wardrobes, with one shopper raving that they 'can't wait to wear it.' The jumpsuit retails for £149 and is available in petite and regular lengths in sizes from 6 to 20. Boasting latte-toned spots, the print is timeless and easily dressed up with accessories. The chiffon fabric adds movement and a sense of occasion, while the wrap-style bodice and tie belt help to cinch the waist in, and the wide-leg silhouette flatters in all the right places. Maxine Spot Chiffon Jumpsuit, £149 One fan gave the chiffon jumpsuit a glowing 5-star review, writing: "I love Phase Eight jumpsuits; they fit my proportions perfectly, and this one is no exception. "Lovely for a summer wedding paired with the Olivia jacket, which will take me from the service to the reception and evening with ease. I can't wait to wear it." A second happy shopper noted: "I bought the outfit for a wedding, and I also brought the matching hat. It feels and looks more expensive than it actually was." While a third buyer shared: "A beautiful jumpsuit, everything I expected from Phase Eight, great fit, and it's very comfortable to wear, I bought it for a family wedding, worth every penny." Sun Shopping fashion writer Sophies Bates has also recommended the Phase Eight wedding guest dresses on her summer wishlist. Can you wear a jumpsuit to Ascot? Yes, Ascot's official dress code allows for jumpsuits, provided they fall within the guidelines (having straps, skirts falling below the knee, etc). For the Royal Enclosure, jumpsuits should be full-length and have straps of one inch or greater. In the Queen Anne and Village Enclosures, jumpsuits are also welcome as long as they're smart and appropriate for a formal day event. Chiffon is also permitted, making the Maxine Spot Chiffon Jumpsuit an option that ticks all the right boxes. How strict is the dress code at Ascot? Ascot is famous for its formal dress codes, especially in the Royal Enclosure. This means dresses above the knee are a no-go, as are strapless numbers or anything sheer. Modest looks that are tailored and elegant are encouraged. Although rules have relaxed in recent years, smart daywear is still essential. No formal dress code applies during the Jumps season. Do you have to wear a hat to Ladies Day at Ascot? While each enclosure will have its own dress code, it is generally a rule of thumb for ladies to wear a hat, headpiece or fascinator at all times. For men, it varies, but in the Royal Enclosure, men must wear a black, grey, or navy top hat with morning dress. Shoppers looking for a gorgeous new bag this summer should look at New Look's dupe of the Chloé straw bag - and it's £650 cheaper.

Five eye-catching Royal Ascot jockey bookings including 17-year-old with ‘glowing reputation' and ‘greatest of all time'
IN the absolute punting minefield that is Royal Ascot, sometimes the best way to go is picking a jockey and sticking with them. Recent history shows following that principle with Ryan Moore won't serve you too badly. 3 But with runners from Japan, America and almost every corner of the globe, there will be some new names - and old - to get your head around at the Berkshire track. A load of jockey bookings are being added to the racecards now, so it looks like the perfect time to strike. Here, I take a look at five of the most eye-catching rides ahead of the five-day festival. 1 James McDonald Look, we all know that in this hemisphere, at least, Ryan Moore is the best jockey. 3 But Down Under they are of the firm opinion that McDonald, with 119 Group 1s to his name, is the king. Trainer Chris Waller even said Macca will be remembered as 'the greatest of all time'. Well, to do that he is going to need some Royal Ascot winners! And he just might after the big-spending Wathnan Racing operation snapped him up for some rides. James Doyle is Wathnan's No1 but McDonald, along with Will Buick, will deputise. And McDonald looks like he will ride the likes of Underwriter in the Coventry and Aesterius in the King Charles III. Away from that squad, McDonald will ride Carl Spackler, who is a 20-1 chance in the blockbuster Queen Anne, the first race on day one. 2 Warren Fentiman This 5lb claimer - son of journeyman jockey Duran - is riding out of his skin and worth following wherever he goes. Still only 17 and with a 'glowing reputation', Fentiman is an interesting booking on Richard Fahey's Ramazan in the Buckingham Palace Stakes. 3 If all goes well and he gets in the field, Fentiman's allowance will come in handy for this intriguing handicap-dropper. Fentiman beat his old man in a race during the Chester May Festival and won the three-year-old Dash at Epsom on Derby weekend. His red-hot form could land him an Ascot winner too after he was booked for Gavin Cromwell's brilliant My Mate Mozzie in the Copper Horse Handicap on Tuesday. 3 Colin Keane Juddmonte's new No1 has one of the best jobs in racing. Keane is a six-time champion in Ireland but may not be massively familiar to British punters. This week could change all that. Among his big book of rides if St James's Palace good thing Field Of Gold, Lockinge winner Lead Artist in the Queen Anne and Babouche in the Commonwealth Cup. 4 Faleh Bughenaim Hailed as 'the best jockey in Qatar', Faleh will have a big ride for Wathnan in the Royal Hunt Cup aboard Jeff Koons. Faleh has just one win from 16 rides in Britain in his career but you can be sure the Emir of Qatar, who owns Wathnan, will have lined up a good one for his country's top star. 5 Christophe Soumillon 'Super Sou' has ridden winners all over the world - but it could be the Royal Hunt Cup where he gets his Ascot one this year. The legendary rider has been jocked up on Greek Order, a fascinating and lightly-raced five-year-old contender trained by Michael Bell. Greek Order was owned by Juddmonte until last month when he changed hands for around £80,000. He's currently 25-1 for the 30-runner cavalry charge but could go off much shorter on the day. Lidl just dropped ‘spectacular' new bakery item — and it only costs 79p
Lidl's in-store bakery boasts more than 40 items, with everything from brownies to boules and Belgian buns. But eagle-eyed shoppers have noticed a brand new item was just added to the line-up and it stands out from the rest thanks to its colourful toppings. The budget retailer has launched a Birthday Cake Bun in the bakery, priced at 79p and it features a pale pink icing and rainbow sprinkles. From the outside, it looks like a rather standard iced bun, but inside it's hiding a fabulous fruity pink swirl. Online reactions to the new supermarket product have been mixed so far, after @newfoodsuk shared a snap of the bun on Facebook and Instagram. Some thought it looked 'yum' and 'nice' while others claimed they'd tried it and it was 'too dry for them'. So Metro decided to put the Birthday Cake Bun to the test and find out if it's worth buying, and it certainly went down a treat. James Besanvalle, Metro's assistant opinion editor, rated it a 4.5 out of 5, hailing it as 'fantastic'. He said: 'Lidl's new Birthday Cake Bun combines all the best elements of a doughnut (pink icing and sprinkles) with a scroll-like bun (jam-filled and soft in the middle). Sure, it's sweet – but who really wants a birthday cake that's not? Supremely satisfying.' And Metro's specialist food writer, Courtney Pochin, also gave one a try. While James ate his on the day of purchase, Courtney took hers home to see how it would fare the next day and she was pretty impressed by how it held up. 'As someone who eats cake and pastries for a living, I've never been the biggest fan of supermarket baked goods. They just can't compete with homemade treats from independent bakeries,' she said. 'However, the Birthday Cake Bun was a pleasant surprise.' She continued: 'After a day sat on my desk and a night in the cupboard, I didn't have high hopes for the bun, which looked rather sad and dry when I plated it up. But I'm pleased to report that somehow it had managed to stay soft instead of going stale (not going to think too much about why this might be right now). 'It's a fun twist on a classic and I have to admit I probably enjoyed it more than most people will as I realised I haven't actually had an iced bun in years. 'There's something so spectacularly nostalgic about the taste of one and it went down very nicely with a cup of tea. 'My only real gripe is that Lidl has scrimped on the hundreds and thousands on top and they're not spread out evenly. In my book, there's no such thing as too many sprinkles. 'It loses a point for poor sprinkle form, so it's a 4 out of 5 from me' Lidl isn't the only supermarket with new baked goods on its shelves, as Tesco recently wowed shoppers with its brand new chocolate cake. The retailer has teamed up with Studio Bakery, a family-run bakery business from Lancashire, to start selling the brand's giant slices of cake inspired by a nostalgic favourite – you know, that one you always wanted to reach through the screen and smash your face into in Matilda. The aptly named Matilda Cake, is a beast of a chocolate cake slice that claims to serve 10 and sees 12 layers of chocolate sponge and 12 layers of ganache stacked one on top of the other. More Trending Priced at £16 for the slice, (which is meant to serve 10 people) the product can be found in Tesco's bigger stores, but not the Express ones. On social media, shoppers have hailed it the 'best chocolate cake they've ever had', with Frankie French posting in the Food Finds UK Official group to say: 'Best chocolate cake I've ever tried, this Studio Bakery Big Matilda Cake. Can't wait to be able to buy it in Tesco.' But Metro's Courtney Pochin thinks there's a better chocolate cake out there and that's Bertha. View More » She claimed the Matilda Cake came a 'close second' to the one sold by Leeds-based bakery, Get Baked, but the overall quality just wasn't on par. Do you have a story to share?
