Mercedes boss Toto Wolff reveals Lewis Hamilton still asks him for DATING advice - as he sheds light on his relationship with the seven-time world champion after his Ferrari exit
The seven-time world champion parted ways with Mercedes after twelve seasons but has endured a disappointing debut campaign with Ferrari.
The 40-year-old is currently sitting in sixth place in the Drivers Championship table, behind team-mate Charles Leclerc and 131 points behind runaway leader Oscar Piastri.
Wolff has been Mercedes' team principal since 2013 and despite Hamilton's departure, the duo remain close, with the German claiming they still 'trust each other'.
He told The Wall Street Journal: 'I tried to be very open and say, "Listen, on the racetrack, we want to beat you. No doubt about that." But it's been 12 years that we have been in this relationship. We trust each other.'
Wolff even revealed that Hamilton asks him for advice about who he should date.
'I'm living a different life through his eyes, you know, he shows me his flirts and who he dates, and [asks], "Should I go for this girl or not?"' he said.
'And I'm saying, "Yes, you should, and tell me how it was!"'
Hamilton remains so friendly with his former boss that he still visit his former side.
He 'pops up in the office on the weekend! He speaks with the engineers, gets some food,' Wolff said.
Hamilton has largely kept quiet about his love life, although he famously dated Nicole Scherzinger until 2014.
The F1 star had met Scherzinger at the MTV EMAs in 2007 and they were together for 20 months but split for the first time in January 2010, before later reconciling.
They then split again in late 2011, before giving their relationship another go in early 2012.
They called time on things once again in July 2013, which prompted Scherzinger to break down in tears during her time on the X Factor judging panel. By February 2014 things were back on, before their final separation the following year.
Hamilton famously had an on-off relationship with American pop star Nicole Scherzinger
The reason for the final split had been put down to the pressures of a long-distance relationship, with Hamilton frequently travelling as part of the sprawling F1 circuit.
'I'm devastated that it didn't work out. It was the hardest decision we had to make, but we made it together,' Scherzinger said in 2015.
'We wish nothing but happiness and the very best for one another.'
Hamilton admitted he had learned from the high-profile nature of the relationship, and claimed in 2022 that he was 'happy on my own.'
'I learned the hard way, I learned the hard way,' Hamilton said. 'I haven't talked about it much. I'm really just super focused on work.'
Prior to his relationship with Scherzinger, Hamilton was confirmed to have dated model Danielle Lloyd for six months in 2002, and Jodia Ma over a four-year period between 2003 and 2007.
He has been linked with a number of high-profile names after splitting from Scherzinger, including Sofia Vergara after the pair were spotted dining together in New York.
He played down reports of romances with supermodel Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, after being pictured with both multiple times in 2015.
The F1 star had distanced himself from reports that he had dated singer Rihanna back in 2015
Hamilton insisted he was good friends with both, an assertion he also made when he was rumoured to have been dating Rihanna.

Leverkusen manager Erik ten Hag hits back at Granit Xhaka's agent over Sunderland transfer claims
Bayer Leverkusen manager Erik ten Hag has insisted that midfielder Granit Xhaka will not be able to join Sunderland this summer, with the Switzerland midfielder heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. The Black Cats had appeared to be closing in on a deal for the former Arsenal captain as they continue a spending spree that has exceeded £100m this summer, with the club keen to add top-flight experience to their squad as they look to beat the drop next season. But former Manchester United boss Ten Hag, who has already seen Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah depart since succeeding Xabi Alonso at the end of last season, is resisting the proposed move. The Dutchman told reporters: "The agent can say anything, but this club has sold three important players - and we won't sell any more players. That's not possible. "Granit is a leader. He signed for five years here and has three more years left. He's too important for us to let go." Leverkusen stand to earn up to £145m from the sales of Wirtz and Frimpong to Liverpool, though Jonathan Tah left on a free to join direct rivals Bayern Munich. The German club recently signed Jarell Quansah from Liverpool for £35m as a replacement for Tah, while Malik Tillman arrives from PSV Eindhoven for a similar fee to replace Wirtz. Xhaka, 32, won the FA Cup twice during a seven-year spell at Arsenal and has previously played for Basel and Borussia Monchengladbach. He left Arsenal for Leverkusen in 2023 and helped the German club to Bundesliga success in his first season. He made 49 appearances in all competitions - 10 of them in the Champions League - during the last campaign, but is said to be keen on a move to Sunderland, who were promoted to the top flight via the play-offs last season. The Black Cats are expected to continue to pursue a move for Xhaka, with more signings expected after the recent collapse of a move for Sassuolo striker Armand Lauriente.

Carlos Sainz perplexed by Red Bull F1 call: ‘I don't understand why'
Carlos Sainz admits he 'did not understand' why Red Bull opted not to sign him for the 2025 F1 season amid rumoured tension between the Spaniard and Max Verstappen. Spanish driver Sainz was initially without a seat for this year after Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari, and eventually moved to Williams to partner Alex Albon. Yet both Mercedes and Red Bull – who had second driver Sergio Perez underperforming throughout the 2024 season – opted not to pursue Sainz. The 30-year-old was teammates with a 17-year-old Verstappen at Red Bull's sister team, Toro Rosso, in 2015 and the pair clashed as they both started on their F1 journey. Yet Sainz insisted their relationship is now cordial. 'The only thing I can say is I genuinely get on well with Max,' Sainz told The High Performance podcast. 'This is what people don't see from the outside. Like, we had a rivalry in our first year in Formula 1 in Toro Rosso, but it was a relatively healthy rivalry in terms of him and me, the way we used to go about racing. And now we get on really well. 'So, if that's the reason [Red Bull didn't sign me], I don't understand why they wouldn't want me next to Max, because I think we would actually be a very strong pairing in Formula 1.' Perez was dropped after the 2024 season for Liam Lawson, who lasted only two races this season before being replaced by Yuki Tsunoda. Yet Tsunoda, in his fifth F1 season, has also struggled to perform as Verstappen's teammate – a continuing trend at Red Bull. 'I think everyone's having a really tough time being Max's teammate,' Sainz added. 'I can only say that when I was Max's teammate, I didn't have this tough time. 'I was obviously incredibly surprised with how quick he was, with how he's an insane driver. I mean, he's going to go out to be one of the best ever in history, if he's not already one. But that first year together, since then, has given me the confidence to know I can be up against anyone.' Sainz is currently 15th in the drivers' championship on 13 points, 33 points off teammate Alex Albon. The next race of the season is this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps with the Belgian Grand Prix.

Ozzy Osbourne's abandoned F1 grid walk interview and X-rated answer stunned Martin Brundle
F1 legend Martin Brundle got in trouble with TV bosses for what Ozzy Osbourne said to him during a brief but iconic grid walk interview at the Canadian Grand Prix Ozzy Osbourne provided Martin Brundle with one of his most memorable Formula 1 grid walk encounters. The iconic Black Sabbath frontman, who has died at the age of 76, wasn't particularly known for his passion for F1, but he did make an appearance at least once at a grand prix. The Birmingham-born rock legend was a VIP guest at the 2003 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. He turned up on the grid before the race began, with reporters eager to speak to him. Brundle, the voice of ITV's F1 coverage at the time, positioned himself perfectly for an interview, only to find himself battling to extract anything sensible from the star. In a moment that has become legendary, Brundle quipped: "I'll try and think of a question to that answer." He was then forced to end the chat abruptly after Osbourne let slip a swear word on live television, which got Brundle into trouble with his superiors. Reflecting on the incident, Brundle once said: "He wasn't fully with it, shall we say. I asked him a question and he gave me a very long, incomprehensible answer. "I said to him, 'I'll try and think of a question to that, but in the meantime how are the dogs?' And he said, 'They are at home s****** on the carpets.' It went out live to millions of people and I got in trouble because I was supposed to have known he would swear if I asked that question." Osbourne did at least engage with Brundle, who has branded his grid walks in general as "car crash television". While many stars are happy to converse with the ex-F1 driver on the grid, some have notoriously snubbed him. Over two decades since that encounter, Sky Sports ' Brundle can look back with a sense of humour, though he'd rather be remembered for his racing career. Earlier this year, he told the Daily Mail:"The grid walk actually really annoys me because that's what I'm known for now. "The whole thing is still a mystery. I won a lot of races as a driver and was on the F1 podium. I was World Sportscar Champion, winner at Le Mans, beat Ayrton Senna a lot of times in F3. "I was a reasonably handy racing driver and I'm a reasonably handy commentator but all I'm going to be remembered for is getting ignored on the grid by the Megan Thee Stallion and other people I'd never heard of until that moment. "It's quite a funny thing but I can't knock it, heading towards 66, I'm lucky to still be in live sport and that's why I was pleased with the OBE because it wasn't an OBE just for grid-walking." Osbourne passed away just weeks after a reunion gig in Birmingham. The Prince of Darkness, who had been battling Parkinson's disease since 2019, died "with his family and surrounded by love". A family statement, issued on Tuesday, said: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."
