Key Naxal operative arrested from Haryana: NIA

Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Jul 30 (PTI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a key Naxal operative from Haryana, who was 'actively working to promote anti-national activities", an official statement said on Wednesday. Priyanshu Kashyap, a native of the Naxal-infested Bastar district in Chhattisgarh and currently living in Rohtak district of Haryana, was nabbed on Tuesday on the basis of information provided by Haryana Police, the agency said. The NIA team seized a mobile phone with SIM card, one Tablet, two memory cards, and 'incriminating" documents related to the CPI(Maoist) from the accused, it said. Kashyap was found to be a member of the proscribed terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist), and was actively working to promote its anti-national activities as its area committee in-charge in Rohtak, the NIA statement alleged. Leaders of CPI (Maoist) have been conspiring to re-energise the decrepit influence of the outfit in the Northern Regional Bureau (NRB), comprising Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, it said. The conspiracy involves several underground and overground workers (OGWs) of the terror organisation, engaged in recruiting cadres and strengthening the outfit in the northern states, the NIA said. Many front organisations and student wings are supporting the outfit's efforts to wage a war against the government of India, it claimed. While the underground workers are in direct contact with senior leaders of CPI (Maoist), the OGWs operate in the guise of activists to further the nefarious agenda, the NIA said. The workers were being provided funds from the Eastern Regional Bureau of the CPI (Maoist), especially from Jharkhand, NIA investigations have revealed. The anti-terror agency had earlier arrested two other persons, Ajay Singhal alias Aman, in-charge of State Organising Committee (SOC) Haryana and Punjab, and Vishal Singh, member of CPI (Maoist), in the case. Brother-in-law carries out Rs 19.7 loot in farmer's house

Rajkot: The Porbandar Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested eight people, including two key conspirators, for the robbery of cash and jewellery worth Rs 19.7 lakh in a house in Kandorna village of Ranavav taluka on July 28. The robbery was plotted, allegedly by the brother-in-law of complainant Karsan Ahir (60) and the accused ecamped with 27 tolas of gold and Rs 80,000 in cash. Porbandar SP Bhagirathsingh Jadeja said six masked men armed with knives barged into Ahir's house, gagged him, his wife Pami, and daughter-in-law Jashu with plastic tape and assaulted them before carrying out the loot. Four teams comprising the LCB, Special Operations Group (SOG), parole and furlough Squad, and Ranavav police used CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and human intelligence, and tracked down the gang's vehicle travelling from Ranavav towards Jamnagar. It was intercepted, and stolen valuables were recovered. LCB in-charge inspector RK Kambariya said the first arrests included Ravirajsingh Jadeja, Jatin Pal, Siddheshwar alias Sidhu Parmar, Sahil alias Kalu Yadav, Neeraj alias Bathiyo Chauhan, and Vishal Chaudhary. During interrogation, Ravirajsingh confessed that the robbery was masterminded by Ahir's brother-in-law, Dilip Sanjva, and his associate Praful Charadva. They provided information about the valuables, the house layout, and family members' movements, and agreed to take 50% of the loot after the crime. Based on these revelations, LCB then arrested Sanjva and Charadva. Preliminary investigations revealed that Sanjva is a habitual offender previously booked in a kidnapping-and-murder case in Gandhinagar district.
