Freeview successor makes huge TV guide change for MILLIONS of Brits with premium perk – days after adding 16 channels
FREEVIEW'S fresh successor has unveiled a number of big changes coming to screens just weeks after announcing a bunch of new channels.
Freely has not long added 16 bonus channels dedicated to Britain's favourite shows, including The Chase, 5 Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly and 4Homes.
The platform is made by the same company as Freeview, Everyone TV, which is a joint project by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5.
Freely beams channels into the living room via Wi-Fi instead of an aerial, opening up the possibility of more channels than Freeview could ever handle.
For the moment, it uses hybrid tech, meaning viewers get channels via Wi-Fi first and can still plug in an aerial for any other Freeview channels not currently available to stream.
The service is vying to be a free alternative to Sky Glass, the premium firm's own internet-streamed TV offering that's been around for a few years now.
In the latest update to Freely, viewers will discover a number of handy new features to help them find their favourite shows even faster.
The biggest of them all is the backwards TV guide.
This allows people to scroll back on the TV guide screen and instantly see what's been on recently, with a quick link directly to a catch up stream if one is available.
You can scroll back a full seven days.
Additionally, the Never Miss feature will highlight what's coming up, on now, and what's just missed, alongside the biggest and best shows available on demand.
And My List will let you save up to 50 of your favourite shows from the UK's biggest free-to-air broadcasters all in one place so you can keep track of them.
"We know viewers love watching live TV and catching up with their favourite programmes soon after broadcast, so we've made it even easier," said Sarah Milton, Co-Chief Product Officer at Freely.
'Our new features—Backwards TV Guide, Never Miss, and My List—make finding, saving, and jumping back into great content effortless, whether live or on demand.
"Freely keeps evolving, offering premium features for free that other streaming platforms don't have.
"And now with Freely becoming available on a wider range of new smart TVs, even more households will be able to enjoy this enhanced free streaming experience."
The announcement comes as Freely reveals that it's signed deals with more tech giants to make the service available on more TVs.
Freely is currently only available on selected new TVs you buy.
The platform will now made available on 2025 Philips TVs and JVC models that run the Titan OS.

EastEnders won't be in it's usual Monday - Friday slot next week due to schedule changes on the BBC, but it's not the only major change the soap will see If you're planning to sit down for your daily dose of EastEnders next Monday (June 9), you may have to think again. The soap will be undergoing a schedule shake up next week. The BBC soap usually airs from Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm. However, next week the show will be airing on Tuesday - Friday due to the 2026 World Cup qualifier between Belgium and Wales, live from Brussels. The first trip to Albert Square next week will be available to watch on iPlayer from 6am on Tuesday June 10. It's not the only huge change for the soap. Next Friday (June 13) will be executive producer Chris Clenshaw's last episode before Ben Wadey takes over. Last October, it was announced that Chris Clenshaw had made the decision to step down as Executive Producer in February 2025 once the soap has celebrated its 40th anniversary. It will be a memorable final episode for Chris, as Kat and Alfie prepare the knot once again. But will third time really be the charm for one of Walford's favourite couples? Chris returned to EastEnders taking on the role as Executive Producer in January 2022. During his time as producer, Chris created many bold and storylines that will go down in the show's history, including The Six flashforward whodunit, and the return of Cindy Beale. He also brought back favourites including Jacqueline Jossa, Shane Richie, Angela Wynter and Patsy Palmer. Speaking of his decision to leave, Chris Clenshaw said: 'As a proud EastEnders fan, it has been the honour of my life to be its custodian. It has meant everything to me, and I've given Walford my all. I made the tough decision that I would step down after the 40th anniversary many months ago – to keep EastEnders creatively refreshed as it's a show that needs to constantly evolve. After what will be three years at the helm and leading the team through its milestone celebrations, the time feels right that I hand over the keys to The Queen Vic. Boisson lights up French Open, Sinner advances to semis
PARIS, June 4 (Reuters) - Wildcard Lois Boisson lit up the French Open on Wednesday when the home hope toppled sixth-seeded Russian Mirra Andreeva in straight sets to reach the last four, overshadowing men's world number one Jannik Sinner who cruised past Alexander Bublik. While Sinner stretched his Grand Slam winning streak to 19 matches after earning back-to-back titles at the U.S. Open last year and the Australian Open in January, Boisson, ranked 361st at the start of the tournament, thrilled the home crowd with a dazzling performance. Sinner will face the winner between three-time French Open champion Novak Djokovic, hunting a record-breaking 25th singles Grand Slam, and Germany's third seed Alexander Zverev in the last four. Sinner, who beat Bublik in straight sets, is the first Italian man to reach six Grand Slam semi-finals. Nintendo Switch 2 launch – live: I've just got my console, here's how to get yours
It's finally happening. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches at midnight tonight, and I've just received my console. After reports that Nintendo wouldn't send out consoles to journalists to preview, I've since got my hands on a brand new Nintendo Switch 2. I've been ripping open the box as I type out this update. If you want your own, it's a little late to preorder, but shops across the country are getting ready to fling open their doors. Every Smyths Toys will be open from 12am, with a small amount of extra stock for anyone who fancies queuing. Over on Oxford Street, Currys is running its own launch event, but it's strictly for customers who've already pre-ordered from the branch. A few retailers are holding back stock for Thursday morning. Argos says it'll have consoles ready to collect from 6am, with same-day click and collect available nationwide. EE will have Switch 2 bundles too, though you'll need to be an existing pay monthly customer to get in on the action. I've been chasing down Switch 2 stock for weeks, and it's safe to say availability is thinning out by the hour. If you've left it late, there's still a decent chance, but you'll need to move fast. I'll be updating this blog with every restock and bundle I can find, and the team and I are on the night shift tonight to catch anything that drops after dark. Some believe it might be due to retailers overselling their allocated stock, or last-minute stock issues related to tariffs and shipping delays. Walmart has reportedly offered a few affected customers a $15 gift card by way of apology, and while GameStop posted saying it isn't cancelling orders, a few people have replied with screenshots saying otherwise. Right now, this only seems to be affecting US orders. Besides Game, I haven't seen any other orders getting cancelled.
