Kim Kardashian has a great reason to celebrate!
On Wednesday, May 21, the 44-year-old reality personality revealed in a series of Instagram Stories posts that she had graduated from her four-year
Law Office Study Program
.
Kim completed the program in six years, rather than four, due to COVID and work, according to PEOPLE.
Kim shared a video of what appeared to be a backyard graduation ceremony, when her closest friends and family gathered to commemorate a significant milestone in her legal path.
"I finally graduated law school after six years!!!" she captioned a video of herself wearing a graduation cap on stage while speakers praised her on her accomplishments.
"It's an absolute honour to stand here today, not just as mentors, but as witnesses to one of the most inspiring legal journeys we've ever seen," Jessica Jackson, one of the solicitors who sponsored Kim's education, said on stage. "Six years ago, Kim Kardashian entered this program with nothing but a strong desire to fight for justice." There are no law school lectures or ivory tower shortcuts; only determination and a mound of case log books to read.
"
"Over the course of this program, Kim has dedicated 18 hours a week, 48 weeks a year for six straight years," according to Jackson. "That's a total of 5,184 hours of legal study, that's time she carved out while raising four children, running businesses, filming television shows and showing up in courtrooms to advocate for others."
In a subsequent slide, Kim hugged her mentors as she stepped on stage, holding a certificate of completion.
When she held up the piece of paper, the audience roared, and her children could be seen on stage applauding alongside her.
Van Jones, a CNN political journalist and friend, also delivered a speech in Kim's honour, applauding her accomplishments over the past six years.
Kim's backyard ceremony was a celebration for the whole family. In addition to her children, her sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian Barker attended and expressed their pride in all of her achievements.
"I am very proud of Kim. Khloé revealed in a video broadcast to her Instagram Stories that she had just left her law school graduation celebration lunch. "I can't believe this has been years in the making. I'm really proud of her. This was such a wonderful accomplishment, and I'm very proud."
Kourtney also commemorated the occasion by posting a selfie of herself wearing Kim's graduation headgear on Instagram Stories.
"Supportive sister," she captioned the picture.
Kim, who never graduated from college, chose to prepare for the bar by apprenticing with a practicing lawyer or judge, a process only available in California and three other states. In 2018, Kim began an apprenticeship at a San Francisco legal firm.
Then, in 2021, she took the "baby bar," commonly known as the First-Year Law Student's Examination, and talked out about the challenging process after passing on her fourth attempt.
"OMFGGGG, I PASSED THE
BABY BAR EXAM
!!!! Looking in the mirror, I am really pleased of the lady I see in the reflection today," she wrote on X at the time. "For anyone who doesn't know my
law school journey
, know this wasn't easy or handed to me."
"I failed this exam three times in two years, but each time I got back up, studied harder, and tried again, till I passed!!! (I had COVID on the third try with a 104 fever, but I'm not making excuses)," she wrote in a lengthy post.
"Top lawyers told me that this was a close to impossible journey and harder than the traditional law school route but it was my only option and it feels so so so good to be here and on my way to achieving my goals.
"
Kim graduated after PEOPLE reported that she passed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) in Los Angeles on March 27. According to the National Conference of Bar Examiners, the assessment is normally done before to the bar exam, and a passing score is required to practise law in California.
In 2019, Kim disclosed that she was studying to become an attorney and following in the footsteps of her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr. Although she has yet to take the bar exam, she has spent the past few years working on
criminal justice reform
and assisting several people in commuting their jail sentences.
